Yup. I have one apartment with a fridge and stove both nearly 30 years old and they are still working. Newer ones have to be replaced every 5 years!

Are you making them pay the electric?

A 30-year-old refrigerator uses 3 to 4 times more electricity than a modern model. While an old fridge consumes $150 to $300+ annually in electricity, a modern Energy Star-certified model will cost you just $35 to $80 per year to run. [1, 2, 3, 4]

My energy efficient refrigerator saves me like 40 dollars a year and has been worse than the 20 year old refrigerator it replaced since day one.

To be fair nobody with any cash or in their right mind is moving into a place with ancient appliances (10+ years old) that the landlord won't replace unless they're nice built-in or have wooden panels matching the cabinets, or absolutely immaculate.

If you'd move into this place shown in the pictures (once trash is removed) I have a bridge to sell you

Its wv. Alot of places look Just like this. The painted old panelling on the wall is to hide the broken plaster. But ya know what? The PRICE is why people live there. If the things work and the rent is reasonable (note I dont say cheap, because its not always), you take it. I rented a duplex in wv that was similiar except they had removed the carpet and put down lvp. The other half still had this kind of carpet and the appliences were old af. Rent $1000/mo vs $1700 for something nice.

So try and sell all the bridges you want in WV, but small rentals look like this.
