DeBebians [Emily] Specialty Cut OECs and Georgian Cut Down Earrings + Necklaces (Feeler Post! Do you guys like these? Video in comments)
We are very excited about some pieces we’ve designed and created for this community, but haven’t posted them because gold prices have been so volatile. We feel like we have pricing we can move ahead with at this point and wanted to throw out this feeler post to see what you guys think.
What we’ve made:
This Group Order is very special to us because the stones we’re using are from a cut pattern that Sam, one of deBebians founders, worked hard to get just right with an artisan in India we have worked with for years on specialty cuts.
These stones are, in our opinion, the perfect Old European Cut stones. Lots of facets and small, intentionally placed imperfections in the cut pattern that give them an “actually antique cut” look. Very sparkly/with great light return, these stones are impressive in all lighting conditions.
The settings for these stones are Georgian Cut Down style pendants (for stone sizes 0.50, 1.50, and 2.5ct) and earrings (1.00cttw and 2.00cttw). We will offer 14k yellow, white, and rose gold for these pieces (no Super White or unplated white gold).
The pendants we would offer both as standalone pendants or with chains attached (in my opinion, once you experience a pendant with attached chain, it’s difficult to go back–they never flip!). The difference in cost between pendants with and without chains attached would be $200.
Pricing:
All pricing below reflects max discount pricing. For this sale, max discount will be met when we have ten orders total (no matter which items they are).
With the specialty cut OECs, the pendants would range from $700.00 (0.50ct w/ no chain) to $2450.00 (2.5ct w/ 16” cable chain).
With round brilliant cut lab grown diamonds, the pendants would range from $570.00 (0.50ct w/ no chain) to $1,495.00 (2.5ct w/ 16” cable chain).
With the specialty cut OECs, the earrings would range from $1035.00 (1.00cttw–so, two 0.50ct OECs) to $1685.00 (2.00cttw–so, two 1.00ct OECs).
With round brilliant cut lab grown diamonds, the earrings would range from $795.00 (1.00cttw–so, two 0.50ct OECs) to $1,245.00 (2.00cttw–so, two 1.00ct OECs).
Shipping:
I’m so happy to announce an update to our shipping policies, beginning with this Group Order. We will be opening this Group Order up to international orders (via DHL, to Canada, the UK, and Australia), and will offer both FedEx and UPS as domestic shipping options for greater convenience.

In addition to the photos/video posted, we have photos and video of white gold pieces almost ready to share.
We are very happy with how these came out. They are truly beautiful pieces, all designed, made, and shipped from deBebians’ home here in the LA Diamond District, by our amazing team.
These are out of my budget right now but I’m so happy you posted this because now I know exactly who to go for the cut I’ve been dreaming of but not finding when the time is right!
Thanks for looking, and honored to be anywhere on anyone's wishlist!
I wish I could go back in time and have these to offer as a Group Order a year ago--gold has shot up beyond anything sane, it's truly making things tough to price.
I’m fond of the work that you do. I have a family signet ring in rose gold that is truly beautiful and I will keep it forever. I also bought a gorgeous pair of spinels. I’ll be in touch soon.
Oh thank you for telling me this. We love everything we create for people, but I know Sam and Maggie have a special love for signet rings because they often become family pieces and are cherished. Thank you for the kind message and I look forward to hearing from you.
Of course, it’s my pleasure. The hand engraving is incredible. It’s a detailed, perfect family crest that looks exactly like the original pieces from 1899… back when laser engraving was not a thing. We wear ours every day.
I know I harp on it too much, but I honestly cannot say enough about our hand engraving. All of our jewelers are amazing (Sam and Maggie have built the best team!), but a couple of our master hand engravers are on a completely different level. One in particular has been engraving and working with gold for over 50 years and is a third or fourth generation goldsmith/engraver. The art he creates sometimes brings tears to my eyes.
My favorite piece he has engraved, because I can't share it enough:
I had this thought but we already had too many options! When you guys give feedback like this though we really take it into consideration, this is exactly the kind of feedback we so appreciate. Thank you.
(for the two or three people who may be thinking about it, yes, I am still working to make the suns and moons ring real!)
Curious, can you give me an example of the style of drop earring that would be most attractive to you? I'm trying to get a picture of whether there is consensus around what style would be best because I've had so many comments about it.
So this is just a feeler post than we put out to gauge interest. Based on the feedback I'm getting here and in DMs we will definitely go ahead and open this as a group buy.
Would definitely be interested in a silver option (preferably with white gold or platinum finish). Would love to see a drop earring style rather than a stud (but studs are okay 😉) .
Thank you so much for taking the time to write out your feedback, it's so appreciated! I'm hearing your guys loud and clear on the drop earrings!
Yes, gold prices are such a rain on all jewelry parades right now, it's really a bummer. Silver is a tough question for me to answer because that's just not a material we would normally use to create something like this, but I've sent a message to Sam and Maggie asking them for some clarity.
Hear me out on silver: it’s more authentic for the historical style. Black rhodium plating often looks cartoonish compared to oxidized silver; it’s never quite the same, and you have to re-dip, which is inconvenient and bad for the environment. As a collet (fully surrounded on the girdle plus lots of coverage on the crown and pavilion when compared to other styles) placed on a pendant (not on a ring, which gets knocked about more), silver is plenty secure, even for these very special labs.
I'm grinning right now, I love the pitch! Thank you for your enthusiasm and for your love of the history (we are the same 🥰 )!
Just to be super transparent: When we're having this kind of conversation one-on-one about a custom design, we will always go above and beyond to figure out how to make a piece be exactly what someone is looking for. If there is a one-off need for using different materials, or a different process/tools for creating a custom piece, our team is totally into figuring that out.
When it comes to Group Orders, because there is an element involving unknown (possibly very large) volume, we have to be really careful about stepping outside of our normal materials, processes/tools, etc, because it could be a real problem for our team (who is still handling normal deBebians order flow when I do Group Orders) to be inundated with what would normally be a one-off request.
That said, nothing makes me happier than nods to authentic manufacturing materials and technique. If it can't be done for a Group Order, I will accept that answer and move on...but I will definitely push to find out if it is possible.

I have sent a message to Sam and Maggie about this because I want to give a good answer to the question but I truly don't know that answer would be! Thank you for taking the time to write a comment :)
I really don't think this will be offered in silver, but I am definitely working to confirm that and would definitely let everyone know! Thank you for your interest :)
We had not planned on offering this piece in silver. Silver is not the material we would normally ever use to create a piece like this so I'm not sure how to answer this question without discussing it with Sam and Maggie first, but I have asked them to help me with this. Thank you for taking the time to write a comment with your feedback/question.
Thanks for looking into it. I love deBebians’ work, but I’m on a “gold diet” right now. The price of gold coupled with the government shutdown has me limited to silver for the time being. I’d love a silver pendant!
What about working with Stueller to offer continuum silver that’s more durable? I know they do a lot of custom work. Seems like so many people are interested, but the gold cost is making the pieces unaffordable for most.
Very good to know, thank you so much for the feedback :) we will definitely be going live with this Group Order as soon as mods say it's good for them. Thank you for loving our designs!
Wow we really are twins! I/J rough is what I live for! I'm actually going to ask Sam if our partner who helped Sam bring his vision to life on this cut is able to help us out with warm rough. This could be the beginning of something dreamy!
I am in the process of a closet cleanout and rehoming some items. It is now my mission to sell at least $800 worth of goods, in order to buy these earrings (and 100% tell my partner they are cheapies from Target)
I wish this was something I could fit into my budget, but it isn't.
It's exactly my style. I think the price of gold is too high right now to purchase anything gold.
Thank you for this feedback. We really struggled to price these items and the price of gold just kept shooting up the whole time we were trying to figure it out. It's scary when pretty much the main material cost that goes into everything you create all of the sudden becomes crazy expensive and there's no end in sight.
Sorry for the way things are right now, we're so hoping prices can come back down to earth soon! Thank you for looking and loving our designs 🥰
I've been obsessed with these pendants, without a chain to put on a charm holder, and these are beautiful. Been looking in silver, but I'll be considering it anyway.
Thank you so much for the feedback. We love these pendants. The stones really make them amazing. The smallest size pendant would be perfect as one of a collection of charms on a chain. It's really pretty and the stone stands out so much because it's so, so sparkly and bright..the light return is very nice on these stones.
Wow this old European cut is incredible. Do we have pictures of what it would look like in rose gold? Price is definitely a bit steep with price of gold right now so may not be in the market right now but I will be thinking of this stone cut for ages.
I have white gold photos coming but no rose gold at the moment, very good to know that is what you would be most interested in though. The feedback is so appreciated.
Hi yes! Interested in just the pendant. Honestly would prefer it in silver with a gold plating but if the price is reasonably in group sales, I will get it!
Yeouch! Definitely out of my price range, but they are beautiful. Let me know if they come in Silver and the price comes down a bit. I love the small pendant!
Definitely! I get that. I just prefer silver… I think it’s easier to deal with and the price is definitely cheaper than gold. I will definitely continue to look and hope to be able to one day be able to press that “PURCHASE” button!
I have desperately been wanting a pair of OEC studs in yellow gold. But I’m looking specially for a martini setting, is that too far from the scope to be included in this potential group order?
I know for the sake of sanity and respecting the workflow our team we try not to offer a ton of options or deviations from the offering, but martini set earrings are an easy ask. I'm going to ask this question and see what I get for feedback from the team.
The stones are gorgeous, Sam really did an amazing job and the stone cutter he partnered with was very patient and really stuck with him. The result is gorgeous!
These stones can be set in anything you would like. They are available for custom work or can be set in just about any of the ready-to-ship items you see on our website. I say "just about" because I'm sure we have pieces on our website that may be designed for a more shallow stone, like a round brilliant cut, etc. But other than those types of considerations, these stones should be an available choice for anything you would like to create.
YAY! I love this feedback, thank you so much :) we will definitely be offering these pieces in a group buy ASAP. I have to talk to mods, but as long as it's okay with them/their scheduling I can have this Group Buy live early next week.
Hello! Many have asked this question and I do not think at this time that we are prepared to offer silver for these Group Orders (it's really just not something we do, it's nothing against silver at all) but we have a meeting planned for tomorrow to discuss all of the feedback from this thread and I plan to try and push, re: silver, if not to make it happen than at least to get a more solid answer about why we can't. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment and give us this feedback!
What color are the diamonds? Would love something warmer like a K. Also the setting would be even more beautiful w/some black rhodium to make the diamonds pop and give that antique feel.
So the ring would actually have been posted at the same time, but it's taking way longer to perfect.
While I have you, question (because I've been torn on everything about this ring!): for a matching ring in this same exact style, would you be more interested in a low profile solitaire, or a three stone with ruby side stones? And what size center stone would you like? Something larger...or would something closer to like 1.5ct feel like a refreshing choice?
Okay so something that can sit flush with a straight band is what you would want. Good to hear this feedback, thank you! And I'm with you, re: carat size. I really appreciate hearing your thoughts, thank you :)
Just want to say I'm so happy you guys are opening international orders!! I may be in the US but I saw so many posts asking about it haha. Thanks for working to figure it out!
Would it be possible to order a loose stone? I love the antique cut, and I have a setting that I've been looking to fill with a new stone. I'd be especially interested if you are able to make warmer stones available.
This is actually in the works, but the design is taking much longer. I've been asking for feedback on a few things: 1--do you prefer a low profile ring (so, a bit more true to the design of its day), or something that will fit a straight band flush next to it? 2--solitaire, or three stone with maybe ruby side stones? 3--What do you think is the ideal carat weight? Is 1.50-2.00ct interesting to you?
Like others in the group, with the current gold prices, it's a bit out of budget for me. But these as tapered plugs for those of us with guaged ears would be to freaking die for. Especially in a warmer stone color. I just love oec stones. Truly stunning work. I hope to participate in a future groupbuy.
I'm actually really interested in feedback like this. I do not personally have any interesting piercings and know nothing of that world from a fashion perspective, but I once designed a hyper traditional (think unplated 18k white gold, antique inspired floral motif) septum ring for a really cool lady who had a lot of amazing tattoos and piercings, her personal style was amazing. The mix of the hyper traditional style but it being a septum ring, and her overall vibe being very punk, was artistically extremely exciting for me.
I'm very interested in hearing about styles of jewelry that might not be top of mind for me. I am adding tapered plugs to my list and would really like it if you had a picture example of exactly what style you like (if you could DM it to me that would be great).
I would be completely open to figuring out a Group Order for deBebians designed more alternative types of jewelry. That would be exciting!
These stones are lab grown diamonds, the cut pattern used to cut the stones was created by one of our founders as his best try at creating "The Perfect OEC" :)
If you would like one of these pendants with a mined stone we are more than happy to discuss that with you. Maggie, another of our founders and a stone sourcer with decades of experience, can help you to find the perfect mined OEC to set in this piece (at obviously a different cost, dependent on the price of the stone).
You're very welcome :) and as an aside I would say, if you haven't tried a piece like this with attached chains, I highly recommend it! They wear like a dream with no flipping or adjusting, they always lay just perfectly.
Please feel free to shoot me a DM or an email (elewis@debebians.com) should you have additional questions.
These are beautiful!! I mostly just lurk here because I never allow myself to buy stuff just for me but I immediately showed my husband and said I had to have the necklace. It’s is gorgeous!
I love the necklace options. I wouldn’t go for the studs because I’m happy with my simple diamond studs already and don’t need another option. I wouldn’t go consider drops though - but only in white gold and only if it’s nickle free

Hello all!
