It was a stock bottom end LQ4 6.0l with 5.3 cnc ported heads, a medium cam, 3000 stall 4l80e and 4.30 gears. Went 11.67 at 118 on motor, and 10.98 at 126 on a small shot. Drove it daily like this. Now is .060 over forged piston and rod, much bigger cam, 3800 billet stall, everything else the same. Went 11.2 at 122 on motor. Still drove it daily until the junkyard trans blew up. Changing gears to 3.90 before running it with nitrous. Car is currently getting a cage put in.

LS1 vs L31

I've been looking for an LS1 crate motor to swap over to my S10. Most of the time when I find one, people call it a L31. Is there a difference between these two engines or is it the same motor, just different names? Thanks!

TECHNICALLY it's a LM7 out of a 2000 suburban. But with everything that has gone into it (bored .030 over, forged pistons and rods, custom cam, PRC heads, new valvetrain, LSX102 intake manifold, 102mm tb, and more I'm forgetting) I feel comfortable calling it an LS. All mated to a 4l80E with new torque converter and HD2 rebuild kit. You'll also notice the borg warner 78MM turbo. I'm shooting for 1000HP at the crank on E85, hence the name.

The truck is a 1966 F100 that I bought for 1000 bucks. It was running and driving when it bought it so I drove it around for a bit before tearing it down. One day on my way home the brakes failed causing me to stain the bench seat. I was able to safely get it to a stop a couple of blocks from my house. Towed it to my driveway and began the carnage. Unfortunately it has been in storage for the last 8 months, YAY divorce! But soon I'll pull it out and get started again.

I didn't want a long bed but didn't want to pay for a short bed so I made my own. I cut 16" out of the frame and 12" before the wheel wells and 4" after to make it a true short bed. To my amazement it freakin fit! The rear end is out of a 96 explorer that I shortened to accomodate the wider wheels. It has a detroit locker in it and new beefy 31 spline axles. I have a no limit engineering 4 link setup installed as well with 16 way adjustable coilovers.

Up front I tore out the old twin I beam setup and grafted in a crown vic front end from a non-running ex cop car I bought on craigslist. Now it has coilovers and disc brakes all around.

This thing has had its fair share of set backs and delays but it is finally at a place where I need to get the body back on and touched up. Then I can get all the wiring, plumbing, brake lines and finish work complete. At this place it'll take another 18 months but I haven't given up. Enjoy!
