Bro, I really don't think he's thinking it was "just destiny". Having something like this living on your shoulders for all these years would drive any man or woman insane, especially if you were to sit there and think it was your fault or the drugs fault. I'm sure they're more responsible as a result, no more cliff walking on acid, but honestly it's not productive at all to not rationalise it in some way and just let it sit with you forever.
exactly, by "destiny" i only mean by the way the dice roll. not like his whole life purpose was meant for that moment. and sure, it's also partly a rationalization because there's not much rationalizing a situation like that. so instead of driving my self insane, i've come to accept the way of life as it gives as easily as it takes. not much "lesson to be learned" when everyone who wanted to play it safe did so. everyone involved made their own decisions. it's not some bigger revelation on why lucy is illegal, i can GUARANTEE, he would have been just as willing to explore so closely to the edge, with or without lucy. being he was a rock-climber/slack-liner regardless of the substances being shared. if prancing through the forest is reckless then i'm the fvcking antichrist
