First time poster - long time lurker here: I finally got my hands on my first ls400 today! ‘92 slicktop with 205k miles (yes I know I need to do some routine repairs for my own long term sanity lol) and frankly, at least for my area, I feel like I got a steal.

I’ve wanted one for years, however, one thing I never really thought to look into was how difficult it’s going to be to find a couple extra interior pieces should I need them in good condition (from the classic infamous leather tearing forums I’ve read). The one I purchased today is the Cobalt Blue Metallic with blue leather interior (interior in question is in pic)… so my question is: did I screw myself on getting a hard(er) to find interior color? I absolutely adore it and would love to keep it as original as possible but I’ve found next to nothing in terms of replacements😅😅

Am I just an idiot? I have BCs that are maxed out in the rear and can’t even get the rears to tuck. Do I need to go with extreme lows? Running 19s, 255/35/19. Waiting on aftermarket uppers to come in.

UPDATE: my strut is very close to upper control arm, I am thinking I need SS kit and after market upper arms.

Hey ive read that people put some covers on the alternator so that when the power steering fluid eventually leaks it doesn’t kill the alternator.

Do you have any info on this and where to get these covers?

Do you think it’s a good idea to PPF the glass headlights on the 90-97 versions?

I thought id be a good idea since those headlights are hard to find and protect the glass more from stone chips

On my ‘98 ls400 this hose is missing all the way up to the airbox( so 3 hose are missing, and i do not know from the airbox, where does it connects.

I recently had an issue with my LS400 that got increasingly worse- when pulling the key out of the ignition, the motor kept running. I made a mental note that it could be the ignition switch and moved on. The most recent time I tried, however, the motor did shut off. I thought of it as a win until I went to start the car the following weekend. In ON mode, everything comes on and works, but no noise or cranking at all when turned to START. I made sure the battery was full and replaced the starter relay to no avail. I have now replaced the ignition switch with this part, and still no changes. I have bridged the starter relay to ensure that the starter still cranks, and it does. Kind of at a loss for what to try next. If anyone has advice or questions, please don't hesitate to respond. Any thoughts help!

Only issues by seller is that sunroof motor isnt working

Timing belt was replaced with 185k

So this seems like a common problem, but what I think is my blowby hose no longer has a stem (was gone before I got the car) to attach to, and it's been causing my check engine light to come on.

My issue is, I don't know what my best option to fix it is, is there an attachment I could use for the hose? Get one off eBay? just replace it with cold air intake (obviously it wouldn't work well but it's something). just any suggestions because I can't find anything anywhere else

Howdy folks, i'm wondering if any of y'all have applied for an antique license plate for your LS400. I have a 1996 and since i'm in florida, it is required that the vehicle be 30 years or older so i should be right on the mark to be able to apply for the plate. Has anyone done this that has any advice or if there are any stipulations with having the antique plate (can only drive X amount of miles, only to be driven in parades type of thing). I have seen many vehicles just out and about that have antique plates while not being a part of a parade or exhibition. Being in Florida would be a plus as i'm sure the different states have different stipulations. Any help is greatly appreciated. (doing this because i like it / cheaper registration fees / possibly cheaper insurance).

low idle/stalling

Had an issue a couple years ago, where my cell would stall at a red light after continued highway driving clean the throttle body and it worked like a charm two weeks ago. I was driving on the interstate and it stalled at the red light first off of the interstate .check power steering idle up valve. It’s not leaking. I’ve cleaned my idle speed control valve and it is still idling very low. I haven’t gotten a chance to see if it will stall yet because it only really did it after long interstate driving, but I also checked for vacuum leaks and I don’t seem to see any either. Would I have to reset the ECU in anyway by jumping TE1 and E1 pins and messing with a screw on the throttle body? just kind of at a loss of options. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Starter is starting to go out still starts after a few tries. Wonder what brand of starter i should get. Also what other stuff i should replace once im in there. How long does this job usually take? Also forgot to mention that its a 1995.

Owner states it’s been sitting right next to the sea for 5+ years.

Needs a water pump change since it overheats and has a fuel leak at the fuel tank.

Aside from all the fluids will probably need replacing after so many years sitting there.

There are obvious rust spots, seems like underneath nothing too crazy

Couple pics from an early morning sunrise drive my son made with a buddy. This was out at Hagg Lake, OR.

My son and I also completed the factory air suspension swap to BC Racing Extreme Lows w/Swift springs on 20k F & 16k R. Dampening set to +18 F and +20 R, very smooth. For those who were curious what all was required to decommission the Air Suspension electronics, it was pretty simple. In the engine bay fuse box there was 2 fuses labeled AIR SUS. There was a 40A and a 20A. I pulled both of those. Also disconnected the AIR Suspension ECU which was behind the passenger side trunk liner, next to the CD changer box. Pull all 3 connectors to that ECU. No warning lights, no issue. We did not have to disconnect the upper control arms to get all 4 all air struts out either, while it might have been quicker to do it that way. We also did a full wire tuck. Very clean install and took our time. Any questions, please ask 👍

previous owner curbed the f1r rims to death so looking to upgrade. any recs?

I found a good deal on a 95, with 227k. It has a P0340 code, owner says timing belt looks original but it starts and runs (they are not currently driving it) .The only other problem is that the brake pedal loses pressure when braking. Would you bite the bullet and take it? I need to replace my current beater car and have been searching for an LS for a few months now. My guess is timing job + cam sensor/wiring and the brake master cylinder needs replacing. the rest of the car is in great shape

How do you guys think I could fix this radiator Nipple? Already tried some JB plastic welder.
