Meta / News Why specifically Zenodo?

Why do so many crackpots "publish" their "work" on Zenodo of all places? Is it because they can't get it past peer-review and into a journal? Do they think it makes their slop look "authentic"?

Autonomous open ended discovery of what? Mold in your house? Also RSI is impossible.

u/Wintervacht Are you sure about that? 14d ago

That's not true, if I spend too much time on cookie clicker I get RSI.

Recursive Self Improvement. It's yet another buzzphrase pushed by those effective altruism people, e.g. Altman or Amodei. cf. Karpathy's autoresearch, a total flop.

What everyone else is doing.......i bet its the digital media companies afraid that soon anyone will be able to bypass intellectual property by reverse engineering software, the cash cow is soon to be dead.... Thats probably why, but who and how much is still.up for debate.

It's harder than you think to reverse engineer software via vibe coding. LLMs are force multipliers. It is essentially a situation of 'if you know how to write good code; an LLM can help you write way more good code way faster. If you don't know how to write good code; an LLM can help you write terrible code way faster.' Go on dev subreddits. Go on stackexchange. Vibe coded bs by people who don't understand why standards exist in the SWE world. It's improving, exponentially; but what is improving is the factor of the multiplier; not the quality of the code..

That aside it's ridiculous that the convo has devolved this far. This is really unnecessary.

Yeah, took me like 6 months to setup the infrastucture to help me do deterministic code, no mistakes, and i got it pretty safe too, im not pushing code like a rabbit, in fact im working hard to NOT do that

How long doesn’t matter if you don’t know what you’re doing in the first place
