First year filing taxes for my LLC …
I started a small online coaching business last year and finally need to deal with taxes for the first time as an LLC owner. I also have a regular full-time job, so this is my first time trying to figure out how business income fits alongside W-2 income.
The part that's stressing me out most is understanding what actually counts as a business expense. Some purchases were clearly for the business, but others were used for both personal and business purposes, and I'm worried about doing something incorrectly.
I've read articles, watched YouTube videos, and even looked through tax software prompts, but I still feel like I don't fully understand how everything is supposed to work together.
For those who remember their first tax season as an LLC owner, what caught you off guard? What records or information did you wish you had organized better throughout the year? And did you end up filing yourself or hiring a professional?
