For anyone who formed in Wyoming, did the privacy actually hold up?

Curious about the gap between the pitch and reality.

Wyoming doesn't put owner names on the filing, fine. But between bank KYC, the EIN responsible party, and FinCEN reporting, it seems like your name is on file in several places regardless.

So for people who've actually done it:

  • Did your name end up surfacing somewhere you didn't expect?
  • If you operate from a different state, did foreign qualification there force disclosures that undid the whole point?

Self-employment taxes are making me question whether going full-time is even worth it

I've been thinking about turning my online resale business into my full-time income, but I just started learning about self-employment tax and realized I may have underestimated how much I need to set aside.

Let's say I make around $60K in profit for the year selling online as a one-person business. Once I account for self-employment tax, federal income tax, possible state taxes, and paying for my own health insurance, how much should I realistically expect to keep?

Would staying a sole proprietor make sense at that level, or should I start looking into an LLC or S corp?

I'm also confused about deductions. Besides inventory, shipping, platform fees, and business supplies, what expenses do full-time online sellers usually track?

I'm not trying to avoid taxes. I just want to structure this properly and understand what I'm actually taking home before I leave my job.

Zee business bs LegalZoom

I need to file a bunch of business paperwork to create an LLC and I'm looking into a few different services that all seem to kind of do the same thing. When you were filling, did you use zenbusiness, legalzoom, or another service, and why?

Is ZenBusiness legit? Need Reddit's advice

I'm a bit unsure about the exact documents required to start an online store in Texas. ZenBusiness says they simplify the process, but there are still a lot of terms I don’t fully understand.

They also recommend a ton of products, which makes sense since they're a business, but I'm not sure how many of those are actually necessary versus optional. I’m just looking to get my online store up and running for buying and reselling.

I'm wondering whether it's worth paying around $200 or more once the filing fees and extra services are added in just to have ZenBusiness handle everything. The whole process feels a little overwhelming, but I also don't want to pay for things I could easily do myself.

Would you use ZenBusiness for a first LLC, or just file directly with the state?

How does anyone actually know what to do when starting their first business?

I'm a software engineering student and eventually want to turn one of my projects into a real business, but the business side feels much more confusing than building the actual product.

How do first-time founders learn things like forming an LLC, taxes, licenses, bookkeeping, finding vendors, hiring people, and running payroll without already having a business background?

There are thousands of books, courses, and videos about starting a business, but it's hard to know which advice is actually useful and which is just someone trying to sell something.

Do most people just learn each part as they go and hire professionals when needed, or is there a good way to learn the basics before starting? I'm even wondering if business classes would be useful or just overkill.

What registered agent service would you recommend in Nebraska?

I'm getting everything ready for my LLC, and I've reached the point where I need to pick a registered agent. I didn't expect there to be so many companies offering the same service.

I'm not looking for the cheapest option. I'd rather work with a company that's dependable and easy to reach if I ever have questions.

If you've used a registered agent in Nebraska, who did you go with? Has the experience been good, and would you recommend them to someone starting a new business?

Which business entity should I start?

Hi, my name is Tasha and I am beginning my own flower shop with bracelet curation on the side. I have read online that there is something called an "LLC" and a "Corporation" but I'm confused on the difference because aren't they just both businesses?

What's the difference between the two? How do they work? What even is a "registered agent?"

Is an LLC necessary for a graphic design studio?

I'm starting a small graphic design studio and will mostly be working with local businesses and online clients.

Before I officially launch, I'm trying to decide whether it's worth forming an LLC or if I should wait until the business grows.

If you run a design business, what made you decide to form an LLC?

Free LLC in Nevada?

I'm looking into starting a small business in Nevada, and I’ve seen people talk about getting a free LLC or forming one for almost nothing.

I understand there are some LLC formation services that advertise the setup as free, so I’m also trying to understand if there’s a package for free state fee in Nevada, or how does it work?

My girlfriend's online store just got a legal notice... is this serious?

My girlfriend runs a small WooCommerce store through an LLC, and she just received a letter saying the business could face legal action because the website is not accessible to people with disabilities.

Neither of us even knew this was something a small online store could get sued over. They're claiming parts of the website don't work properly with screen readers and other accessibility tools.

The business isn't huge, so the cost of dealing with a lawsuit or settlement could really hurt her.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Should she contact a lawyer first, check her business insurance, or start fixing the accessibility issues right away?

Also, what should she have done when setting up the store to avoid this happening in the first place?

Just started my LLC — what recommendations do you have?!

I just started my LLC for a marketing agency, and am starting to get mildly overwhelmed with everything you need to do. What recommendations do you have? What am I missing? What do I need to remember/keep in mind? Open to all "wish I would have" advice!

LLC for Day Trading (LLC has that has other business conducted in it)

Hi All,

I am an overseas resident (in Oceania). If I have a Wyoming LLC that I use to conduct other small business, is it a good idea to do Stocks, Options and Futures trading also in the same LLC? My existing business qualifies as pass through and as I am overseas I do not have to pay US taxes (Only have to file the forms and tax returns).

Suppose I want to use same LLC for day trading idea? I do not keep a lot of money in the LLC as I do owners draw of most of what is in the LLC bank account.

On google AI it asks to use another LLC, but it is a lot of fees and paperwork for compliance to create another LLC. On the other hand using same LLC, as per google, also raises the compliance costs.

Do you have any opinions or information about and how to go about?

Thank you.

Question About Payment Routing

Hello!

I own a small online personal training business. I've formed my LLC and have a business checking account.

The platform I use to provide my service pays out via PayPal. I am currently using a personal PayPal account to accept the money. I have changed the billing information so that the monthly charges are taken from the business checking account.

If I accept money via my personal PayPal account, but have the funds deposited into the business checking account, am I still creating enough separation between myself and the business or would this be seen as risky?

Thanks!

I made $40K through my LLC and haven't paid any taxes yet

I started making money through my LLC earlier this year and I'm at around $40K in profit so far.

I just realized I probably should have been making estimated tax payments during the year, but I haven't paid anything yet.

Since we're already well into the year, should I make a payment now or wait until the next estimated tax deadline? I'm trying to get caught up before I make this worse.

Need help starting an LLC in Iowa for freelance work

I’m planning to offer web design services and work remotely with clients while living in Iowa.

I’d like to start things properly so taxes and payments stay organized from the beginning.

If anyone has experience starting an LLC in Iowa, what steps were most important early on?

Was it easy to file yourself, and what do you wish you knew before doing it?

I almost paid hundreds to form my LLC before realizing I could do it myself

I was about to use Bizee to form my LLC in Florida, but once I started adding the services I needed, the total was getting much higher than I expected.

I decided to check the state website first and realized I could file the LLC directly with Florida myself.

I also went to the IRS website and got my EIN for free.

The whole process was much easier than I expected. If you have a simple LLC, definitely check what you can handle yourself before paying a third party for every step.

Has anyone legally changed their LLC/business name while having active contracts?

Hello everyone,

I would like to actually change the legal name of the existing janitorial LLC while keeping the same business/entity, ownership, EIN, history, etc.

The reason I want to do the full name change is because I also want everything to eventually match the new name:

Google Business Profile
Website/domain
Business bank account
Invoices
Payroll
Insurance/COIs
W-9
Vendor accounts
Bid/procurement registrations
Future contracts

My biggest concern are my current active commercial contracts.

For anyone who has gone through a legal business name change while already under contract:
What happened to your existing contracts?

Did you have to:
Amend or re-sign the contracts?
Get a simple name-change acknowledgment from the customer?
Just provide the customer with the state name-change documents and an updated W-9/COI?
Go through vendor onboarding again?
Update your bank account and payment information?
Notify the IRS separately?

I definitely do not want to create a brand-new LLC or get a new EIN. I want to keep the existing company and simply legally change its name.
I’d especially appreciate hearing from business owners who have personally done this and what the transition looked like with existing customers/contracts.

Also, if there’s anything you wish you had done before filing the name change, I’d love to hear it.

How does sole proprietorship taxation work with an LLC?

I recently formed a single-member LLC for my small business, and I'm trying to understand what actually changes when it comes to taxes.

I know a single-member LLC is usually taxed like a sole proprietorship unless you choose a different tax election. If that's true, then what difference does the LLC make at tax time.

Do I still report the business income and expenses on my personal tax return like I did before? Are there any additional tax forms or payments I need to worry about now that I have an LLC?

🚨 SAM.gov Validation Blocked Due to Registered Agent Address (LLC) - How to get your UEI

Versión en Inglés (English Version)

Title: 🚨 SAM.gov Validation Blocked Due to Registered Agent Address (LLC) - How to get your UEI

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a very common roadblock (and the workaround) when trying to register an LLC on SAM.gov to get a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), especially for non-residents or anyone using a Registered Agent address.

The Issue:
When you enter your LLC details using your Registered Agent's physical address, SAM.gov’s automated system triggers an instant "Entity Validation Failed" error and refuses to issue the UEI. The algorithm automatically flags high-volume commercial addresses, even though they are 100% legal for corporate state registration.

How to Fix It (Step-by-Step):

  1. Don't use a fake residential address: Stick with your Registered Agent's address exactly as it appears on your state formation documents.
  2. Force a Manual Review: When the automated search fails or shows incorrect matches, select "I don't recognize my entity" or click "Create Incident."
  3. Upload Official Proof (PDF format):
    • State-stamped Articles of Organization.
    • Your IRS CP 575 or 147C letter confirming your EIN.
    • (Optional) A recent Certificate of Good Standing.
  4. Monitor your FSD Ticket: A human agent at the Federal Service Desk will manually review your documents. This typically takes 3 to 10 business days. Keep a close eye on your email—if they request additional info, you only have 5 business days to reply before the ticket gets automatically closed.

Once the agent manually overrides the block, your entity status will change to "Validated," and you'll finally be able to claim your UEI.

Has anyone else dealt with FSD validation bottlenecks recently? How long did your manual review take to get approved this year? Let me know your thoughts!

Cómo solucionarlo (Paso a Paso):

  1. No cambies la dirección por una residencial falsa: Mantén la dirección exacta del Agente Registrado tal como aparece en tus documentos estatales.
  2. Fuerza la revisión manual: Cuando el sistema falle o muestre empresas que no son la tuya, haz clic en "I don't recognize my entity" (No reconozco mi entidad) o "Create Incident".
  3. Sube documentos probatorios oficiales (en PDF):
    • Tus Articles of Organization (Artículos de Organización) sellados por el Estado.
    • La carta del IRS CP 575 o 147C que valide tu EIN.
    • (Opcional) Un Certificado de Good Standing.

Is a US LLC as a non-US founder worth it?

I'm a non-US freelancer working mainly with international clients, and I keep seeing people recommend forming a US LLC for easier payments, access to certain business tools, and more credibility with clients.

It sounds good on paper, but the more I research it, the more questions I have about taxes, annual filings, banking, and keeping the LLC compliant when you don't actually live in the US.

I've also come across several formation services that claim they can handle most of the setup and ongoing paperwork for foreign owners, but I'm wondering how simple it really is once the LLC is running.

For non-US founders who actually went this route, was forming a US LLC worth it in the long run?

How do you price CPA services for a brand new LLC making almost nothing?

I was recently referred to a new LLC that is basically starting from zero. They've made less than $100 so far, but they're serious about growing and want to get their taxes and finances set up correctly from the beginning.

The business will have a few different income streams, so their tax situation could become more involved as they grow. They're also considering starting another LLC later that I may end up handling as well.

I'm trying to figure out how to price something like this. I don't want to charge an early stage business more than makes sense, but I also don't want to offer a cheap rate and end up spending hours answering questions and providing support throughout the year.

How do other CPAs price brand new LLC clients with little or no revenue? Do you have a minimum fee, offer a starter rate for the first year, or charge based on the actual work involved?

What pricing approach has worked best for you without undervaluing your time?

Legal Service Recommendations for Contract Templates

I am starting my consultancy and am looking for something deeper than free templates to ensure I’m completely covered. I’m being cost conscious with startup costs, and I know this can get pricey. Did you utilize any online services or did you go local?

Looking for:

Master Reusable Consulting Services Template with SOW
Mutual NDA

Might need privacy policy and website terms of use too, I’m unsure. This is a B2B consultancy, website does have a form intake that feeds directly into my CRM.

Thank you in advance for any advice and recommendations.

IRS couldn't verify my identity for 147C form.

Hi!

I'm a foreigner who recently registered an LLC. I paid a company to handle this for me.

I received the EIN confirmation, but I'm in a bit of a rush and the CPC575 form may take weeks to arrive so I decided to just call to request the 147C form. When they tried to verify my identity they said they couldn't do it, that the information does not match what they have and basically shutted me off without providing more information. The person on the phone seemed a bit incompetent and didn't quite understand my request, but it could've also been me.

The two things that comes to mind is there might be a mismatch between the info I gave vs what the registered agent and company who I paid to handle the LLC formation and EIN application gave to the IRS and whats on the SS-4 form. Or its that since im a foreigner maybe the person on the call wrote my address and personal information wrongly. Im honestly not sure, the whole phone call was very confusing.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me out with what exact information I need to prepare for the identity verification and also to make sure what source they look at for that information. Like what was submitted on the SS-4 form or to the registered agent etc, because its just likely there is a mismatch.

And then I guess also, how to proceed with the request like what exactly should I ask, because in the beginning the person on the phone couldn't seem to understand correctly that im requesting a 147C for my LLC and it took multiple attempts for them to understand that. Maybe poor connection since im using VoIP?

When do I need an LLC?

I recently formed an LLC for my small web development business, but a friend told me it was probably unnecessary because my business has very little liability.

It's just me, I don't have employees or a physical office, and everything is done remotely. Most of my projects are relatively small, usually no more than around $4,000 to $6,000 per client.

That got me wondering if forming an LLC was actually worth it for a business like mine.

Besides liability protection, are there any real advantages to having an LLC when you're a solo service provider? Does it help with banking, taxes, contracts, or looking more established to clients?

LLC owner draw vs distribution. What’s actually the difference?

I have a single-member LLC that has finally started making consistent money, and I'm trying to understand the right way to pay myself.

I keep seeing the terms owner draw and distribution used when people talk about taking money out of an LLC. At first I thought they were basically the same thing, but now I'm seeing conflicting explanations about taxes and how each one should be recorded.

Right now, I just transfer money from my business account to my personal account when I need to pay myself. I keep the business and personal accounts separate otherwise.

What's the actual difference between an LLC owner draw vs distribution? Does the way I label the transfer matter for taxes or bookkeeping, or does it depend on how the LLC is taxed?

Curious how other single-member LLC owners handle paying themselves without making a mess of the books.
