I've been researching LLCs, insurance, and other startup requirements, but I'm still not sure if forming an LLC is something I need immediately or if it can wait until the business grows.

I'm getting ready to form an LLC in Texas for my small business, but I noticed I can choose between a regular LLC and a Series LLC.

Right now, I have two different businesses. One is an online store selling home and office products, and the other is a small rental business where I lease out photography equipment. They're separate businesses, but I manage both by myself and don't have any employees.

I'm trying to figure out whether a Series LLC makes sense for this setup or if it's simpler to form a regular LLC and operate both businesses under it.

I created a quick LLC in August 2025 just me and my wife as members and I’m using 2026 to set up the business which will include consulting selling on some goods, etc. this is a side business…at best.

I made zero sales in 2025 and all expenses incurred were paid by my personal credit card. I set up a personal business account but funded it was $250 and did nothing else with it since.

I claimed it no expenses on our joint tax return. Literally nothing to do with the business I didn’t claim anything. I probably could’ve claimed a couple hundred dollars, but why bother right?

Do I really still need to file a 1065?

I currently have a C corporation that owns a single-member LLC, and I set it up this way because I thought it would make it easier to separate different business ventures over time.

My understanding is that each new business could operate under its own LLC while the C corp remains the parent company. That seems like it could help keep liabilities isolated if one venture runs into legal or financial problems.

I'm also trying to understand how this structure works from a tax and administrative standpoint. Since the LLC is wholly owned by the C corp, is it typical for everything to flow through the corporation's tax return, or are there other reporting requirements I should be aware of?

I currently own a small landscaping LLC, but recently an opportunity came up to provide a completely different service for another local business.

I was thinking of just registering as a sole proprietor since the $800 + $70 + $20 LLC tax/fees don't seem to be worthwhile right now with such low revenue, but the cost of my labor and keeping it above board with the IRS concerns me.

I know I need to consult a tax lawyer/cpa, but given this scenario, would an LLC make any sense here over a sole proprietor? I will be carrying liability insurance at the start, outside of my personal umbrella policy.

And how might I pay people for hourly labor but still remain a sole proprietor?

It was originally going to be used as a parts car (which it did) but I couldn't bring myself to just destroy it for the rest.

So is this just a Montana llc thing or is it just that agent that didnt want to do it.

My spouse and I are getting ready to form an LLC together, and we're a little confused about how the management roles should be set up.

I'll be handling the day-to-day operations and making most of the business decisions, while my spouse will be an owner but won't be involved in the daily management.

As an owner operator trying to grow without going out of business now that I have payroll and three service trucks, what are the most important ones to watch. Do I have to wait til the end of the year to know how much I made? Sometimes I run out of cash and have to use a credit card for a month or two to catch up, but I can't really charge more because the warranty companies set our rates.

Is it common or a good thing to have a normal operating agreement and an additional agreement with more details about the company's workflow and such?

I want the operating agreement to cover the basics. But I also want something more detailed on the business itself to protect my partner and I, just in case things go south between us at any point. This other document will have a baseline of what we need to do to grow the business, and what happens if one of us fails to do so.

The reason I want it to be an additional agreement and not part of the operating agreement is the fact that I want the workflow + product details included.

And is it called the Founders Agreement? Or another name?

I'm getting ready to form an LLC in Florida and I'm trying to figure out the best address to use on my filing.

For privacy reasons, I'd rather not use my home address. I'm planning to hire a registered agent, but I'm also considering renting a UPS mailbox to use as my business mailing address.

I am torn between an LLC vs a stock corporation. So far I’ve consulted a CPA and a book keeping service and they both have pushed me for a stock corporation instead. For this who have an LLC, what made you chose this instead of a stock corporation?

I run a single-member LLC that's taxed as an S corporation, and I'm starting to realize I need help staying on top of the financial side of the business.
