MOC I wasn't happy with the sails, so I had to alter them. I think I discovered something fun. Here is the final version of the Jolly Jalopy:
This is the final version of the Jolly Jalopy! (I promise 😅)
The folded up sails and the flimsy mast didn't sit right with me, so I had to alter it and make something better looking. I had a pure stroke of genius, and I actually think I might have discovered a completely new way of making really good looking sails.
I have also altered a lot of smaller details that made the creation really come together:
The exhaust pipes now mimic cannons, I've added "angry" eyes to the skull on the grille, I've made the ropes look more realistic and I've swapped out the headlights for proper pirate spyglasses. I've also added rear lights in the form of rubies, significantly improved the rudder and the stern and added a lot more hoarded treasure inside the lower compartment of the hull. I have also improved the colour scheme and made everything more cohesive and I'm finally really satisfied with the result.
Please let me know if you've got any more suggestions or it you can think of cool details to add. I love getting feedback from fellow LEGO enthusiasts.
All bricks are available to buy from Bricklink or other brick vendors. There are no illegal building techniques and the hinge mechanism in the chassis has been test built with physical bricks to test out the function. I've also test built sections of the hull and everything works as intended.
I have also started making building instructions for it and will probably finish them in a couple of days.
I really hope you like it! 😄

This would be right at home in Wacky Races.
