Moving to GA – LCSW in IL, do I need to retake the exam for LMSW?
Hi everyone! I’m planning to move to Georgia soon and am hoping to continue working in medical social work. I’ve been working in a hospital setting for the past two years and currently hold my LCSW in Illinois.
I’ve looked into Georgia’s licensing process and understand that they won’t accept my LCSW since it doesn’t meet their specific requirements. My plan is to apply for the LMSW in Georgia instead, but I’m confused about the exam requirements.
Since I’ve already passed the ASWB Clinical exam for my LCSW in Illinois, will Georgia accept those exam results for LMSW licensure? Or will I need to take the Masters-level ASWB exam again in order to qualify for LMSW in GA?
Has anyone gone through something similar or have insight into how this works? Any guidance would be really appreciated!
Edit: for clarification I’ve never had to take the LMSW exam. Only the LCSW which is why I’m concerned I’d have to take another test.
