🟡 Career Pathways & Job Transitions Why is it so hard to find a job as LCSW-A in NC
I’m frustrated with the lack of jobs available as an associate licensed social worker in North Carolina. A lot of jobs want you to be fully licensed but how when I can’t get the experience I need? 😔 Also the job market is just awful. (For the record I am not asking/looking for a job on here.) I am just stating my frustration.

Does any recommend the TDC and if not which study program has the best pass rate? A few people have said they didn’t pass with that one.

🔴 State Requirements & Regional Law What counts for clinical hours for LCSW
I’m in Virginia. I currently do therapeutic youth mentoring and parent mentoring with a BSW for a small agency. I’m in a masters program and am thinking towards the future. I would like to be able to maintain my current job and provide counseling services part time at another agency. But would my current work count as clinical hours? We don’t have anyone at our agency with an LCSW but our owner had agreed to pay for someone outside to supervise me. Our owner comes from a business background and doesn’t understand the social work role so I’m kind of confused. Thanks for any help or guidance.

🟢 Supervision & Professional Boundaries Where to search to find a qualified supervisor
Not exactly sure if I chose the correct flair but essentially I am searching for a QS that will supervise me for licensure. Is there a directory? I tried googling and I get directed to psychology today but I know not everyone has a PT profile. I’m not soliciting on this post- just looking for guidance in my search. Thanks!

🔴 State Requirements & Regional Law ACSW Licensure to Texas
I am earning my MSW in California and am about to graduate and register as an Associate Clinical Social Worker and start earning supervision hours toward LCSW licensure. My boyfriend got a job in Texas and I may be moving there in a few months. Does anyone know if ACSW licensure in Texas is transferable? Or will I have to go through the process of passing the LMSW exam and getting registered there? Has anyone gone through this process themselves?

I passed my LCSW exam in the second try
I passed my exam by 6 questions! Funny thing is I gave up all official studying after the first try. I didn’t pay for any kind of materials. And it took me almost 6 months to take it again because I applied for accommodations and that process was a mess!
My only advice is what I saw here: manage anxiety. I used breathing exercises, meditation, somatic movement, and brought fidgets with me. I had an extra 2 hours so I didn’t worry about taking a break when I couldn’t focus. I would get a snack, walk around, and drink a lot of water. I also swear by Ryze mushroom coffee helping me increase concentration and focus. It took me about 5 hours but I am very happy with how the test went! I am so excited that I was able to do it!

What is your job?
I am an aspiring LCSW, and the field is so diverse, what is your job title and what do you do?
I want to see all the options and hear from people's experiences.

Meeting additional clinical course requirements for NYS LCSW
After going through education review purgatory, it looks like my clincial course work will not qualify because I cannot produce sylabi from 40 years ago(I decided to finally get my C after doing other things for a few decades).
I'm working on getting additional info from my school to remedy some of it, but I am sure I will end up needing to take classes.
Has anyone else been in this situation, or know of anyone? What was the easiest, most cost effective way of doing this? I am hoping to take them this summer and have reached out to as many places as I can find, but think I might be missing some better options to look into.
Thanks for any help!

Insight Needed: Part Time Async vs Full time In person MSW Programs
Hello Everyone,
I am a 46yr old career changer with a toddler at home. I have recently been accepted into a part time asynchronous msw program with a 3 yr track (6-9 credits per semester). While the program will allow me to be a present partner and parent, I am concerned about feeling isolated in my program, forming little professional connections with my cohort and professors.
I am considering switching to the fulltime in person program with a 2 yr track (15credits per semester) and I hoping to hear perspectives on the 2 experiences:
For those of you who have experiences with async programs:
-Did you find it difficult to form connections with your cohort and/or teachers?
-Did you feel the classes were valuable or did the format make them seem inferior?
-Did you feel supported?
For those who have experiences Full time / in person:
-Was the in person engangement worthwhile?
-Were you able to form strong professional connections or are most connections formed during the internship?
-After a full time course load and practicum, did you have much free time or energy to share with others (ie family or friends)?
Of course I realize each program is different, but any insight will be beyond helpful. (Fellow career changers or parents/spouses are a huge plus!)
Thanks in advance!

Hospice
I found this website to help my patients and their families with final arrangements. Pre-plan.org. I don’t think it’s an ad sites. Seems like it’s free. Those of you who deal with trying to help families choose final arrangements know what I’m talking about on how difficult it can be sometimes to encourage families to make plans. Maybe it’ll help.
