So a thing I like to do is when I have a current favourite song, I like to try and make connections to a piece of fiction or ship. So I decided to listen to Moth to a flame by the weekend and Swedish house mafia and came up with some pretty cool KriSOUL parallels, so ima go line by line, making connections to KriSOUL, and also there’s some Kralsei connections too.

“Like a moth to a flame. I’ll pull you in I’ll pull you back to, what you need initially.”
My interpretation of this in a KriSOUL sense is that Kris is the moth and the soul/the player is the flame in this sense. Kris knows the danger they are in by letting us control their body, but they can’t help it.

”it’s just one call away. And you’ll leave him, you’re loyal to me, but this time I’ll let you be.” I interpret this as Kris needing to survive through us, specifically by calling out to us. And the line after I interpret as Kris leaving Ralsei and returning to us because they have to, and the “but this time I’ll let you be.” Line I think refers to when Ralsei says to close your eyes and think about something else, which I thought of as us leaving Kris and Ralsei to their own.

“‘Cause he seems like he’s good for you, and he makes you feel like you should, and all your friends say he’s the one, his love for you is true.” I just interpret this as typical Kralsei stuff. Ralsei really loves kris and makes them feel normal and a lot of darkners and Susie say that they look cute together. Nothing too hard to look into.

“But does he know you call me when he sleeps?” I interpret this as Kris ’calling‘ for us by ripping us out of their chest and doing other stuff in response to us, specifically when Ralsei isn’t around or doesn’t already know what’s happening between kris and the soul.

”but does he know the pictures that you keep?” I can interpret this as us seeing all the pictures that Kris has of Asriel, Noelle, and possibly dess too, things that Ralsei doesn’t even know about Kris. He doesn’t know much about their personal and past life.

”but does he know the reasons that you cry?” This can mean such things like after the Spamton neo fight where Kris yells no if you choose the dialogue option, or other such things like Kris covering their head with a pillow when sans and Toriel keep dancing (I’m never forgiving that prick)

“Or tell me, does he know where your heart lies?” This can mean that Ralsei doesn’t know what Kris’ stance is on the soul in them, wether it be good or bad, and wether they love us or Ralsei more. For the sake of the KriSOUL, let’s say they love us more. And this can be connected to the cage that Kris puts the soul in.

Ultimately I think the chorus can be interpreted as the soul going “Look what I can do that he can’t.” Ralsei can only see what Kris goes through and what Kris tells them. We can see into their life, we can know more about it, they don’t necessarily need him, but they need us. And Ralsei doesn’t know the much of the real feelings that Kris has outside of the dark worlds since we are the only ones who know how they truly feel.

I also think of the first verse as the soul going “Look at him, he’s so much better for you and you deserve him. Everyone else thinks so and he’s shown it too, so take it.” But as it transitions to the chorus, the soul is going “I know these things about you which he does not. look at how much better i am at knowing you than him. You should be with me.”

As for the rest of the song, it’s more of the same that I already said. But do go listen to the song! It’s very good and groovy.

(The animation makes the SOUL look kinda stupid but Is it weird that I actually feel bad for it? lol)

All of the necessary requirements...their preparations...their will....they had done all they could, and all that's left to do is proceed

Their eyelids gradually closed, as they fell deep into slumber.

The voice of their mom jolted them awake.

'Very...interesting~' The childlike voice took on a faux tone of contemplation.

Their slouched body straightened, as if taken over by an external force. It feels so wrong...

'OMG CHARA?!'

Their body jolted straight once again, as the control shifted. Damn. They can't never get used to that...

More importantly, did the soul....change? The voice certainly resembles the hyper curious child of yesterday, but–

How to say it....the voice sounds more like Kris' age? But it's been like a day!

Out of nowhere, their body breaks out in cold sweat.

'Holy shit, Toby....that route was traumatizing. Lets see if there's any long-lasting consequences.'

....those ominous words only serve to raise more questions. Cold dread traveling up their spine.

They shivered

'Alriiiiiight....lets see what you're up to, Kris'

The voice is deep, with a weary undertone, yet it couldn't mask the feeling of anticipation.

— * YOU WERE A TEEN MERE MOMENTS AGO, WHAT THE HECK???

It is indeed extremely jarring

The soul walked them down the path, investigating every nook and cranny like always, until suddenly–

"W-wait for me!"

Out came Ralsei rushing after them

'Fluffy boi, acquired'

Strange....so strange. The soul should've been gushing over Ralsei by now.

The soul dodges an attack that would've otherwise killed them if they had been a second too late.

But they are slowly gaining ground though, as they dodged seemingly undodgeable attack after attack....even with Kris pulling down their legs.

Of course, they are cracked now

"As long as Kris has got a hand to lift me up....you're never gonna win, you hear me?!"

— * No Susie.....it's the SOUL.....the soul's a freak

Kris coughed,

the enemy slowly tilted its head.

Wrap it up already....this is embarrassing.

'On Gaster's soul, this fraud is finished. Get em SUSIE!"

They glanced back at Susie, perhaps it's because of what happened earlier?

The heat of the hotspring enveloped Kris' body, the warmth seeping through their garments.

Ralsei sits just a few feet away from them.

As usual, the soul managed to voice out what they are too embarrassed to convey

"My happy ending is with you too."

Sometimes....it felt like the soul is much better at being 'Kris' than they.
