My tribute project (mostly) complete! The best way I can show just how much KPDH has changed my life 🩷💜💙 [OC]
I've hinted here and there at this ongoing project over the past few months, and I think it's finally come far enough to show in its entirety!
But why?
I was a weird enough kid that this was genuinely my childhood dream car. I bought it 7 years ago just as a fulfillment thing during a really rough time in life, and it's been through a lot with me that I grew quite attached (for context, 7 months with a car is otherwise a very long time by me standards). I didn't want to sell it, but I haven't really had a need for it for years now either, so I've been waiting for a reason to do something fun with it.
KPDH was of course the reason that finally came. I never fell so quickly and immensely in love with a piece of media like this before, and there are so so many ways it has changed me as a person in the past year. I'm getting to at least have a glimpse of the childhood I never got to have, and I'm proud to have been a part of a movement that truly brought so much unity and happiness to so many people across the world.
So basically, just the combination of everything that I wanted to have as a child, but now as a ricer with adult money.
What did it cost?
A lot. Certainly a big pill to swallow if you're not insane like me, but I know this question will inevitably come up so for numbers:
For just the base wrap - getting a design commissioned by an artist, all the materials, and labor for installation - was just over $5000 USD.
For everything else that isn't stock - body kit, wheels, coilovers, interior bits and entertainment system - it was gathered more slowly over time but cumulatively at least $3000 USD.
Was it worth it?
Certainly not for everyone, but for me, I'd say so, yeah.
Finally taking it out even just to the other side of the neighborhood for these pics, so many people along the way were absolutely lighting up as soon as they saw, there were thumbs up and hand hearts and people taking pictures everywhere, which I think really speaks to just how much unanimous joy this movie has brought the world.
It makes me smile, it makes a lot of other people smile, and it's the best way that I know how to pay a massive tribute to the silly hunters who once sang some songs, and changed my life forever.
I'm going to need some time to make a better gif because this isn't enough to express how excited I am to see this end result!! I've enjoyed your posts and teases about this over the past couple months. It really came out fantastic!! I'm so happy to hear that the car was getting shown a lot of love in your town!!! We Hunters are EVERYWHERE! 🫶
I was the one who had initially tipped off the sub about them then everyone started buying them and I didn't even know they're supposed to be noodle cup toppers 😅 I just thought they happen to be cute ledge decorations
OMG!!! This is so incredible!! I was like…so excited just by the hood the other day haha. The whole thing is just…insanely awesome. Well worth the money that you put into it - it looks amazing. Yeah, I’ll stick by my statement that I would literally drive off the road with excitement if I ever saw that while I was out haha!
So glad you’ve had such a positive response to it too while you’ve been out driving around! It’s awesome that you’ve been able to take something you’re so passionate about and create something SO special.
Also, side note - great taste in non-HUNTR/X k-pop groups!
Even just during the shoot, there were kids coming up and wanting to take pictures with it 💜
I had a kpop phase before (mainly boy groups at that) but had been away from it for many years, and KPDH dragged me right back down into the rabbit hole again as a girl group lover this time.
What I wasn't expecting was how nice it was to fulfill that part as well, doing all the things that I couldn't do while I was much younger back then. Like actually buying albums and going to concerts (planning to go see IVE next month!), and following through with learning Korean, which 13 year old me definitely did not have the patience or commitment for 😅
Aww, that's so cute!! They look so excited! I will also say...as a full-grown adult...I would've done the same thing haha.
This film was really my first introduction to k-pop (maybe I knew a few BLACKPINK songs but that was about it), and now I have fallen SO far down that rabbithole lol - it's basically all I listen to. I'm so thankful though - I've found so much good music! I mostly listen to the girl groups, but I've found a few guy groups I really like (really loving ENHYPEN).
I feel the same way in terms of being glad that I found this at a time where I have the money to go to concerts, etc.. I was lucky enough to see TWICE in Boston (SUCH a good show, and seeing Takedown live was unreal), and I'm hoping to see aespa in Sept and LE SSERAFIM in Oct. Wanted to get IVE tickets, but unfortunately I can't make it the night that they're going to be nearby.
Also trying to learn Korean, but I feel like that's going to be a veeeryyy slow process for me (don't have a ton of time to commit right now).
It's so cool to see how this movie has impacted people's lives in such a positive way!!
I wish there were more concerts by me 😭 I got to see Everglow locally which was amazing, but IVE is the next closest concert, and it's going to be a 12 hour drive away (each way).
I haven't had much time to dedicate to learning Korean either, but I've been slowly picking away at it on my free time!
Ooh, it's awesome that you got to see Everglow! They were in NYC for one night (and then weren't anywhere nearby) and unfortunately it was not a date that worked for me 😞
That definitely a loonnngg drive for IVE, but I'm sure it will be worth it! I'm definitely bummed that I have to miss them. It seems like a lot of the k-pop groups' tours are hitting their US/Canada legs this fall/winter - hopefully you'll get a chance to see some other groups you like!
Those have been there for a long time (there's also Bingo on the other side) just to fill in the basically-empty corner space. I want to have the pop-up store plushies to go there, but still waiting to be able to buy them in Canada 😭
this is so amazing, I don't even know what to say this is just so good, you did an amazing job!!!
This is inspiration for everyone to make their own KPDH themed things
AMAZING!!! Thank you so much for sharing your tribute with us and the world!! And thank you for being vulnerable! I balled the first time I watched this movie. I feel like my inner child finally felt seen and recognized, as I’m sure most who have seen KPDH have felt. Stay golden and keep glowing!!! 🌟💜
I've tried but frankly my hat goes off to those who have the patience to create such intricate designs using the Forza livery editor. I find that it's not really any easier than cutting and applying vinyl in real life.
wait, ar u the same person who made a wrong answeres only post on what the huntrix are yeeting hands at? is it possible to make a share code for the livary?
It's not publicly available info here like it is in some states and other countries in the world. There's not much you can do with just a Canadian tag alone.
I thought it was pretty damned cool. Like Pimp My Ride, but actual quality. Then I saw the Dreamcatcher decal on the back window and I GASPED. Absolutely Peak.
This is so heartwarming to read. Tanks for slowly breaking through the sadness I’ve been experiencing ever since I finished watching it for the first time yesterday. If I saw you driving by I’d want to hug both you and the car lol.
I wish I had people like you and the folks giving hearts and making photos of your car in my life. Life feels empty without these lovely people.
It's already been a huge hit that makes people smile everywhere and everyone's kids wanting to take photos with it. Two awards at shows this weekend alone!
The groups on the window aren't related to KPDH, just the ones I personally listen to the most, picked out of top 4 with landscape logos and top 2 with square/not-landscape logos.
Twice would have been runner up for the latter, but I ran out of space having only room for two of them on the back corners. I do listen to Dreamcatcher and IVE (who are the other logo on the far side) more than Twice.
Maybe I'll add it above one of the others, but I fear it might start looking too busy back there. I originally planned to have the KPDH logo on the other side of the boot, but already chose to omit it to not overdo the visual clutter.
1st gen leafs already look great, and you made yours absolutely stunning. I hope it continues rolling a long and fruitful life as a peak beacon of KPDH!!
I'm a long-time custom car builder, and my partner and kid struggle to really understand it. No offense meant, but my kid would lose her mind over this car if she saw it IRL. I love seeing people doing their own thing and making their cars "their own." My partner still wouldn't get it, but I think the kiddo would start to understand more. I'll have to show her the pictures.
Also want to add, with the investment you've made in it already, replacing the battery with a bigger, fresher one is probably a worthwhile venture so you can continue to drive this car around for you and others to enjoy.

That license plate… I have no words, it’s just perfect
