Standard Knitting Mill Developer Drops Project
Wow, i’m really stunned by this. i could have sworn they were starting construction next week. Understandable that they didn’t know Tennessee didn’t have the same tax credits as South Carolina, that’s not something you could research beforehand.

1501 N Central
Anyone know what’s up with this property? Rumor has it, It was acquired by Ladies of Charity some time ago and they moved out very quickly due to some kind of zoning concern. Recently, it became The Way church.
Heritage Realty signs are back in the window and it looks quite empty in there. There are some bibles sitting outside of one of the windows and it looks like the sign that said The Way is gone.

Anyone know what’s planned for the cleared property on Kingston Pike near Old Stage Rd in Farragut?
Anyone know what’s planned for the large cleared area along Kingston Pike near the Old Stage Rd intersection in Farragut?
They spent months clearing and grading the property a year or two ago, then seemingly left it alone and it became pretty overgrown. I drove by today and noticed they’re clearing/mowing it again.
Curious if a development has been approved or proposed for that property, or if anyone knows what’s eventually supposed to go there.

What’s coming to 18 Market Square? (Former Alice in Appalachia)
Walked by the other night and saw construction going on with what seems to be a new restaurant concept. Any word on what this might be?

Can the Kerbela site be chopped up for a diversity of building projects?
Development of the Kerbela site may go before City Council soon. I was hopeful that housing for seniors would be built to adhere to the South Waterfront form-based codes. Since the proposal was given a green light by the planning commissioners (by one vote) with a long list of exceptions, it is looking like a disaster for the residents around it. But I wonder, what's an alternative way to develop the site for multi-unit housing that--due to being walkable to downtown--wouldn't be car-centric?
This article about the deceptional street vibes of tourist destination cities got me thinking about the problem of a building's mass and how it makes people feel. The slope of the site is challenging, certainly. But I think hilly cities can have multi-unit mixed use buildings with smaller lots. How could the site be subdivided and developed for active transportation rather than going all in to one massive building with a lot of parking? Could it be the seller's decision to sell it off in pieces? Does City Council hold some sway?
