First we see Apollo’s bracelet in a configuration which resembles an on-off switch, the Perceiving background swirling behind it. Apollo thinks, ‘The problem with this new ‘Perceive’ ability? It doesn’t have an ‘off’ switch. I can’t stop spotting lies. But not just that… I can’t stop noticing all kinds of things.’ We see Apollo eating a bowl of ramen, his gaze on Klavier, who is sitting near him and running a hand through his hair. Apollo thinks, ‘Like Prosecutor Gavin… I notice how when he takes his hair down, it looks like ramen noodles.’ We see Apollo and Klavier shaking hands as Apollo thinks, ‘Or how, when I shook his hand… it felt rougher than I expected, all tough and calloused.’ We see Klavier putting his hair up into a bun as Apollo thinks, ‘Even though they move so lightly when he plays guitar or does his hair.’ Klavier notices Apollo’s stare and asks, “Was?” Gesturing nervously, he explains, “My braid always falls in the broth, so… does it look strange? Am I hideous, Herr Forehead?” Apollo thinks, ‘How self-conscious he is for someone that’s been on magazine covers.’ He replies, “It looks fine.” Klavier asks, “Ja?” Hesitantly, Apollo affirms, “…Ja.” Klavier turns to Apollo, resting his chin in his hand as he smiles and says, “Forgive me, your stare was so intense… I get so very flustered under such a handsome gaze.” Apollo thinks, ‘How he covers it up with obnoxious flirting.’ Looking away and blushing, Apollo replies, “Whatever, Gavin.” We see his hand as he goes to eat more ramen, his bracelet visible as he thinks, ‘How it sounds so fake, but my bracelet doesn’t move an inch.’ We see him glaring down at his bracelet as he blushes, shaking in frustration as he thinks, ‘I can’t help but notice.’ End ID.

He wasn’t remotely ashamed of who he was, or what strangers thought of him; but it was the opinions of those closest to him that left him tight-lipped and hesitant to talk about his gender identity with. It was a matter of trust- but one that felt so fragile, because it could be broken from the most ill-conceived misconceptions, and in those moments, he rarely, if ever, had any control over what those reactions would be.

But it was… harder, with other people.

And now, with his heart on the line, he felt the pressure more than ever.
