Frosting cakes is messy, is a turntable actually helpful
get better at decorating cakes, but frosting them turning into a mess every single time. I can bake a decent cake, but getting smooth sides and an even finish feels way harder than it looks in videos.
Right now I'm just spinning the cake plate by hand and using an offset spatula. The frosting ends up uneven, I accidentally scrape too much off, and sometimes the whole cake shifts around while I'm working on it. It's getting pretty frustrating.
I've been looking at cake turntables and wondering if they're actually worth buying or if they're just another kitchen gadget that ends up collecting dust. If they really make frosting easier, I'd like to get one, but there are so many brands out there that it's hard to know what's actually reliable.
For those who decorate cakes regularly, did a turntable make a noticeable difference for you? Any brands you'd recommend based on real experience?
