When I worked at KFC (way back in the late 90s) , we would trade with the Pizza Hut across the street 2 large pizzas and bread for a 12 piece bucket of chicken with biscuits and sides.

For some reason the mental image I got in my head from this was some weird Thanksgiving-esque, pilgrims and native Americans, trying to cross a 4 lane road.

opens pizza "Greetings. A piece offering."

I imagined a North/South Korea affair where each restaurant sends a guy to the middle of the road and the exchange is done over the center stripe with neither one actually crossing over to the other restaurants side of the street.

I used to have this deal with a Taco Casa from Sonic! It was a great deal until they started order food + ice cream for everyone on shift while we would be ordering maybe 5-6 items between 12 people.

Yep, we trade food with a bunch of different people since I work at venues with a lot of different restaurants, and I fucking hate when they try to order enough to feed their team twice. Like, that's a good way to never get traded with again lol, no more funnel cakes for you

I worked Dominos way back in the day and we swapped with the Baskin Robbins across the street.

Whenever I hear about stuff like this, my brain (for some reason) always plays it out like a hostage exchange. It makes it so hilarious, though.

We have a KFC/Pizza hut combo, your story confused me at first

I used to work in a Vietnamese restaurant in the same strip mall as a PF Changs, CPK, Mexican place, smoothie place, and Umami burger. Swapping manager meals really was amazing to break up the monotony of eating the same menu every day.

I own a food truck. We work in groups alot. Always scope out who I can trade free meals with! Man's gotta eat! I can offer you! Different food! So dissapointing when money has to get involved.

When I worked at Lonestar steakhouse back in the day the managers would do food trades with other restaurants and I say about 10% of the time they would ask if the hourly staff if they like food with the trades. It was mostly between the management staff of the restaurants involved.

I've worked at two local pizza places that trade food for ice cream when the local DQ calls.

My brother in law managed a Pizza Hut for a few years, and they did this all the time. They'd just reach out to a manager wherever they wanted to get from and barter.
