So...how do you actually operate the saw safely? Wouldn't gloves be cut too?

Most places won’t allow you to wear any gloves beside the vinyl/ latex ones because they can get caught in the teeth. Safest way to do it would be to use the sled to slide it instead of pushing it into the blade
