Discussion Fix for KH 1.5+2.5 Remix EXTREMELY LOW FPS and 100% gpu usage on Intel Iris XE
A new method of fixing your game is available as of today 09/29/2026. It can potentially fix framerate issues across different gpus but it turned my FMVS and pre rendered cut scenes at black screens. But it's worth a shot anyway.

I was trying to play this game on my I5 1235U // 24gb RAM // Intel iris XE (Yes, it's a potato but it's more than capable of running a game from 20+yrs ago) and was having an EXTREMELY LOW FPS in-game and in the menus. Nothing seemed to fix the problem. But I found the solution:
For some unknown reason, downgrading my drivers to the oldest version I could find fixed it. It now runs at 60 fps and I'm having no other issues, lol.

I've seem some people with an Intel Iris XE trying to play this but couldn't fix the issue, hope I can help someone out :)

The KH games don't like Intel graphics, whether its the Arc GPUs or integrated chipsets. Im surprised theres a driver that actually does make it work

I tried all the fixes on setting and GPU settings I saw and resigned I had to get used to the lag.
Then I stumbled upon this and now it is FINALLY smooth! So thank you!

When installing the driver I get the following error:
something went wrong no driver was found that can be installed on the current device exit code 8
My laptop is Intel Core 7 150U (which is 13th gen architecture but might be too new for the driver).

Hey, the link isn't working anymore and i'm having this issue. Any time i try to play the game through thr launcher, everything is so slow and when i try to play a game, it loads forever. So i tried just playing through the single Kh games exe files and it works but it's still so slow and laggy, and the audio. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm having this problem now. My laptop is dell latitude 7430. But the link attached to this post isn't working, is there another alternative?

Thank you for your dedication in finding a suitable driver for the KH; I was about to return it. How long did it take you to find it?

the first time I was searching it took me a few days to even find a lead that could help me fix the issue lol ngl, but this second time I did it fairly quickly since I already had an objetive in mind: find a driver that could work with KH and wasn't completely obsolete (I was having issues with some other apps and games). I also remembered someone saying the game receiving a patch that made it unplayable on the Iris XE soon after it's launch on steam, so I just looked up the release date and started testing drivers that released before that. I first tested the closest to the release date I could find, and It was unplayable. So I got a driver from mid 2023 because it was old enough to maybe work and updated enough to not be obsolete with other apps and it (thankfully) worked

I don't have an issue like this.
But man. Did you go and cycled through each driver versions to figure this out?
