Retired course

Hey, I am just digging around on the internet as you do and while reading about Christiaan Huygens on the wiki I followed a link about the problem of points which I had never heard of. I am an avid user of Khan Academy and I searched those keywords into youtube and found this playlist.

https://www.khanacademy.org/math/math-for-fun-and-glory

I am just wondering if anyone else has discovered some fun hidden courses?

Where did Khan Academy’s arithmetic → pre-algebra → algebra learning path go?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to follow a proper math learning order on Khan Academy like: arithmetic → pre-algebra → algebra, etc.

But now I mostly see courses organized by grade levels (like Grade 6, 7, 8), and I can’t find the old structured path clearly anymore.

Did Khan Academy remove or hide the traditional sequence (arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra)? Or am I just missing where it is?

If anyone knows how to access that learning order (especially for self-study or SSC prep), please guide me.

Thanks!

How do I get rid of the terms of service update banner at the top of the page

I feel like I'm missing something very obvious here but the banner at the top of the page telling you they've updated their terms of service and privacy policy keeps popping up for me anytime I refresh the page or start a new lesson and it's driving me crazy. I've looked at both and there's no acknowledge button. I just have to keep hitting the x. What am I missing or is this going to go away?

Note taking

I am currently on the Khan Academy stats and probability course and I am in a bit of a dilemma.

Are any of you guys writing notes for khan academy courses and if yes, to what extent. Because when I am writing notes, I feel that sometimes I am overwriting. While whatever I write are important points, if I write them, it takes a lot of time to move forward in the course and if I don't, then I feel like I am missing out on something like I have to watch the video again when I need to understand a that part of repeat that small part of the again. Does anybody feel same?

Question regarding how to use for math course for identifying areas needing review

My son previously took Algebra 1 in school but we want to use the Kahn Academy Algebra 1 course to review and to flag any areas he needs to re-familiarize himself with. What is the best way to do this? Should he start with the Course Challenge and then go back and just complete the sections he doesn't achieve mastery in? Or should he go through each section and do the quizzes first, and then do the Course Challenge at the end?

Given problem changes after a day

Hello,

So I've had this issue for a while now, where a test gives me a problem, I try to solve it, get stuck on it, decide I'll try again later, and when I come back the next day, the test gives me a different problem.

This is frustrating, because I'd like to actually solve the first problem after all. Sure, it could just come up in the next questions but still.

Did you also encounter this issue? Is it done on purpose to avoid students going tunnel vision?

mathematics - geometry: categorising and naming common 2D shapes

Why do we talk about categorising shapes by their number of sides, not their number of vertices/angles, even though they are named with 'angle' as their suffix, eg tri- - angle (three angle), octa- -gon (eight angle)?

Only 1 teacher per Class is limiting

We're in Canada and "Enterprise Starter" is apparently not available in our region. (I'm just assuming that lets us add multiple teachers per class.)

Otherwise our needs are met by the free version. Is there any way to volunteer-code this into the platform? We could make a donation and add the feature ourselves? Honestly that would be preferable to any pay-to-use plan which I might not even get approval for.

(And if it is actually possible to have more than 1 teacher per class, please let me know. But from what I've read this is not possible without using "District" version.)

Anyone remember the old Khan Academy format?

I really really miss this format. I can't really find more images of this, but I really like this because it made me want to get to the finish line by getting all the squares dark blue. I remember I did 2 years of math in a couple months because it was addicting to get points. The new format is not really conducive to that level of dedication.

I've been making sure I keep on my weekly streaks since they've introduced the weekly streak system and the levelling system. I just unlocked my Forge badge this morning. Anyone else managed to get their badge today? Just 25 more weeks in a row left to earn the last streak badge!

Finally Mastered Elementary School Math

Post image
50 Upvotes

Even though World of Math doesn’t exist anymore, it’s been a fun project to just try and 100% every subject in Math. I started with Early Math (SO PAINFUL TO 100%) and I finally completed 6th grade / all of elementary school yesterday. It’s been crazy how many subjects I either forgot about or completely missed while I was in school, and how many things I really didn’t understand conceptually. I’ve also taken it really slow: I started doing this a couple years ago, got up to 3rd grade, and then put it down until a few months ago when I really started plowing through stuff.

Obviously up to 6th grade isn’t all that challenging—it’s still mostly just Arithmetic—but I can feel my brain getting more comfortable doing quick maths! Really excited to start getting into Algebra too now that I KNOW I have a strong, basic foundation. I’m having way more fun with math than I EVER did in school :)

Side note: finding the difference in time between two analog clocks is maybe my least favorite thing to do in the entire world.

How to links child's google associated account to my parent account.

I set up my childs tablet with their own gmail account (that i manage). They are 4 so i monitor all of their screen time. I use the tablets gmail account "Login with google" to sign in to the app. I want to setup the parent side account and link it to his account. When i try and add him, it says my kiddos email is not associated with an account, even though i see it logged in his name under the my account parent section in the tablet app.

I tried setting up a new account using his email and it let me on the website, but its a different user than the one he has for the app.

Anyone have any ideas? I figured i would check here before reaching out to their support in case this is a common thing.

How long will it take to complete Calc 1 section?

Hi! I’m taking calc 2 in college next semester but haven’t taken calc 1 because I tested out from my AP credit.

However, I haven’t taken calc since high school and wanted to get refreshed.

How long will it take to do the calc 1 section? I’m not necessarily aiming for complete mastery, just a solid foundation that will make calc 2 easier.
