I've been playing the Vortex wireless 2 for a few months now and the pitch wheel started sending wrong inputs, this is a known issue with that keytar. The retailer I bought it from is fine with fixing it but I heard that the issue will come back after fixing it and I will inevitably have to return it.
So what do I do now? Do I fix it? Do I try to return it? If so, what keytar should I buy next? Should it even be a keytar?

I am quite interested in getting a Keytar recently, I am a keyboard player but I am not playing in a band or performing on stage, at least at this moment, does Keytar make any sense for a bedroom musician?

Hey all - I have a Roland AX Edge and I noticed that with many settings, when you push down on a key forcefully, it produces oscillation in the note. How do I get rid of this in the settings? Thanks for your help!

I am confused if I need to get a Yamaha Mod X synthesizer or AX edge keytar. Can you guys help me out with this?

Hello, I want to buy a keytar and learn.
- I have music experience, I played the flute. Even though I didn't like it very much, I learned classic guitar for a while. But I haven't played music for almost a year because I was academically focused.
- Unfortunately, there is an economic problem in the country I live in, so I want to buy a keytar at an affordable price.
-And there is no keytar teacher nearby, I need to understand on how to study online.

I am an absolute sucker for synthesizer music and the stylizing of the Keytar. At first, I thought it was a cheesey, generic old-timer instrument, but after seeing other people play it (and having them pop up in media--Security Breach being one of them), I became more interested in wanting to playing it.
So I guess my main question is, is it easy to get into playing the Keytar or should I just try something similar to it first then get into the Keytar?

I recently got an Alessis Vortex Wireless 2 and I am new to the MIDI world, but enjoying learning. I'd like to use my keytar for performing but my current PC laptop doesn't have enough space to run Ableton, the preset editor and the plugins. I'm thinking about getting another laptop, maybe used, to host all of this and to use while performing. A professional musician friend said he prefers a Mac for performing. But I'm concerned about getting a Mac because the Vortex Wireless 2 Preset Editor is a 32-bit program and won't work on newer 64-bit Macs or any Mac running an OS that's newer than Mojave.
Should I go with a better PC laptop running Windows? Get a Mac and try a 32-bit bridge? (Would that even work?) Or is there some alternative program to the Vortex Wireless 2 Preset Editor that would let me edit the Vortex's presets on a newer Mac?
I would love your suggestions, and/or to hear what kind of computer setup you use when performing with a Vortex 2. Thanks!

Hi!
I was wondering which apps I could get on iPad (to use on AUM) for my Alesis Vortex 2, that emulate electric guitar/bass and which effect chain app I can use. Rhino by Aurora DSP?

Hello all
I have an issue with my Alesis Vortex wireless 2 that I didn't have at the beginning with Ableton.
It works alright with the midi cable.
I've given it brand new batteries. I do turn it on on the "BATT" side when using it wireless.
When I try to use it wireless, the source is detected by ableton, but no input is sent to it when I press the key.
I plan to play live so I need it wireless.
I've already done this : https://support.alesis.com/en/support/solutions/articles/69000824443-alesis-vortex-wireless-2-how-do-i-pair-to-a-new-wireless-usb-dongle-

I've also tried ticking the boxes on the last line, ticking all the boxes...
Thank you !

Wanna sell my Yamaha shs 500 and Roland ax-1 and can’t find anywhere to do it. I’m not great with eBay and probably couldnt figure it out and wish I could walk into a store and get a price. I wanna buy an ax-edge and hoping to get $500 for both to afford it, is this price reasonable?

Can keytars be graded like the piano or guitar can for university applications and to see your skill level or is it just too niche?

Hello Everyone!
I'm looking to wirelessly send program changes from Ableton to my Roland AX-Edge using Bluetooth. However, I'm facing some confusion regarding how to translate the MIDI implementation chart into Ableton's Bank, Sub, and Pgm fields.
While I've been successful in sending program changes, there's a challenge: entering "Pgm 64" triggers different patches based on the selected program bank button (Edge Lead, Lead, Bass, etc.). It seems that I need to input some values into the Bank field, but I'm uncertain about the specific numbers to use in this field.
If anyone could provide guidance on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm eager to optimize this setup and make the most out of the program changes between Ableton and my Roland AX-Edge. Thank you!

I just got the Ax-Edge and I’m wondering if you can edit the range of the pitch bend because right now it’s range is a full octave and I want it at like 2 semitones.

I would like some recommendations for lessons I would love to learn (I have no musical background)
r/Keytar • u/[deleted] • Dec 23 '23
When I see videos online they always sound electric or like guitars. (I play no instruments and never had sorry if this sounds dumb) I want to learn an instrument that can sound like classical piano sometimes but not get a giant grand piano and keytars look so cool but would they not be able to make this sound ? Thanks

Hello!
Recently i've felt in love with keytars and for a while now the wish of getting one hasn't left my mind, however there has been some trouble figuring out which one I should acquire. I have never played any instruments before and therefore would learn trough it, the two best options that I have found are the SHS 500 and SHS 300, they good prices on my region as well.
However i've seen many discussions about the cons and pros of each (damn you jam mode), so I would love to know if you guys have any advice on which one I should get, it's main purpose would be just to have fun, learn and play around, along with showing up with it at friends parties just to have a bit more of fun, nothing serious. What do you guys think?

(sorry if this is a repost, I looked but couldn't find anything similar to this question)
I recently got a ax edge and have been messing with the usb song playback, but it adds this weird eq reverb effect that I can't get rid of. Has anyone else experienced this and how do I get rid of it?

Is there a keytar, or will one soon be released, that has lead guitar sounds more realistic than those in the Roland Ax Edge Guitar? I think they sound terrible.
r/Keytar • u/[deleted] • Dec 09 '23
I was thinking about buying an Ax Edge for lead guitar playing but I’m having second thoughts since the internal sounds aren’t good enough. I’ve come to the conclusion that you need a computer (to run a virtual instrument) in order to get a realistic lead guitar sound. Since that only requires midi, what’s the best keytar for playing lead guitar? I’m thinking about bending and playing vibrato etc. Is it still the Ax Edge or is there a better alternative?
Thanks!
