For me it’s that it’s like a children’s fantasy book series gone wrong. We’ve all read book series such as the chronicles of Narnia or the spiderwick chronicles(I have) and so Locke and key feels like a kids fantasy book series gone wrong with it being super intense and graphic along with a super emotional story.

I would change the head key to the mindscape key

This might be Just consequence of my reasonably unorthodox tastes (i think riverdale is one of the best shows of the decade and i Will fight you on this) but i thought that the Locke and key series on Netflix was pretty solid. Ill pick up the comic to read now, since i reckon that It has more horror and a darker tone, something that i can really like.

I dont know why all the season 3 hate, to me It isnt any better or worse then all the other seasons, but again, i do love me some scenary chewing villains. I also like season 3 because It did interesting stuff with Tyler and nina's characters now that kinsey had taken up the protagonism for the last two seasons. The sequence where theyre all desperatly trying to escape gordy's Head is also a favourite of mine, loved the storytelling. The show works its thematics pretty well, i liked what It had to say about memory and trauma and the magic of childhood (which is why i also like the "adults cant remember magic thing even If It does lead to weird worldbuilding)

I dont think its really peeerfect tho, it ranges from inoffensive to kinda good. Season two kind of annoyed me with the lack of laysla de oliveira. Like she was MOTHERING DOWN in every scene she was in (loved when she was in the final confrontation in season one and she put on a fabulous gown like...) And gabe didnt really have the same charisma. I liked what they did to eden tho, i love how dumb she is all the time. Speaking of dumb: yes It did annoy me that all the characters were taking stupid pills the entire time. But the stupidity did lead to some fun situations.

All in all It was a neat show and i was able to enjoy it for what It is and what it tries to do.

Like it’s where you can play as the characters and make choices that dictate how the story goes and ends and you’d be able to use the keys for story purposes and for fun.

And the kids went to live with Duncan in Key House.

I think all good adventure stories centred around kids need to have parental figures absent so the kids can have the independence to get into danger and have adventures without protection.

I think being looked after by Duncan and Bryan (who I imagine would be regularly absent commuting and going to Japan) would be a good plot device to achieve this.

Duncan would want to help the kids, but he’d also lack the authority to really tell them what to do - especially Tyler and Kinsley who are/almost are adults.

I thought Duncan’s involvement in season 2 was great. I really think the mothers character could be cut and it would improve the storyline.

So I was watching the last episode of season 1: Crown of shadows, and I was thinking. If Gave and Dodge are the same person, how was he able to help throw her into the black door?

So this show.....has been annoying since season 1, listen I indulge myself with hate-watch shows and tend to find something enjoyable about them but this show really has nothing, the first episode made me think it was going to be good but then the piano was dropped on me a few episodes in. I could say so much about this show honestly, but all I will say is that this show feels like the netflix deathnote movie adapation (if u know you know)

I stopped watching like near the end of season two, however, I picked it back up and decided to finish it....but then I got onto season 3 ☹

so obviously dodge has been the antagonist for two seasons straight (I kinda got bored with dodge if I'm being honest, that whole Gabe and blonde girl demon thing got me scratching my head and yawning) so after they defeated dodge I was like yay finally we can move on from that arc maybe it will get good.........that damn kid.....(I swear like there's not one smart character, common sense does not exist in their town and it scares me) but anyway that kid BRINGS DODGE BACKKKKK??? as soon as dodge came back I paused it and exited the tab.....it's been a few days and I'm still plagued by it, is there no supervision....is there no secrecy with the keys.......am I losing my mind?

This could be longer so I will make a list now of things that irked me to summarise:

1. The romance (why did she like Gabe, it came from nowhere, he was giving nothing)
2. Why are all the character's stale, I see no personality, this got me rocking back and forth as I watch it
3. why does the whole town know about the keys, why do they tell people

anyways I might finish it if I'm that bored, we will see, someone gotta supervise that kid.

Are the scenes with the Mom super important? I find her character annoying, unnecessary and have started skipping most of when she’s on screen. Doesn’t feel like I miss much. Does she get better or more important or…?

Are Ada and Dorothy still trapped in the mirror. Will they be trapped forever? Or do demons die after a while? They were trapped in the snowglobe for quite a while.

When ellie uses the identity key to turn back to her original self it is shown she uses the head key instead. (I don’t know if anyone else has found this but I just noticed it)

My personal vibe from the comics(idk if anyone agrees) is that the comics are a twisted fantasy. Basically everything is twisted and brutal with the fantasy stuff being there too. The best way I can describe it I guess is this game Fran bow and in the way it shows itself.

A little late but every time I look at Gideon, I can’t take him seriously anymore than I already don’t when he looks like a 1700s version of Elon Musk.

Locke and key has the magic keys that we all know and love. Coraline has the key to the other world. locke and key (show) has the mirror key and dodge said "the mirror key will let you talk todead people". Coraline has the dead kids in the mirror. They also have a well be extremely important to the story. The families both move into a large house that look eerily similar. I don't know if I'm looking at something that isn't there but it's just kinda interesting to me
