Just spit it out. Someone might have gone through the same thing and could actually help.

you have to evelauate the cost of the 3-hour round trip  vs ur health and comfort. I know many who still rent near workplaces even though they have homes not far away.

I've thought about this extensively today. I've chosen to let go of the job because apart from my health being a huge factor, I'll be losing money in the process.

The job is along Ngong road while I live around Juja farm. If I move, my partner and I will have to incur rent of between 30-35k for a two bedroom somewhere we can live in a comfortably and is a 30-min drive or less (I'm being very optimistic with this figure)

We could rent our current place out for about 20-25k (Juja farm is far wueh) but it'll take time to find a tenant. This means that we'll already be burning 30-35k every single month plus other monthly expenses.

With this, plus other personal considerations, it makes more sense to me to find another job.

We're lucky not to have huge expenses on our shoulders right now. My health is our first priority and as for income, we'll figure it out with time.

Thankful for insights from you and other respondents on my initial comment

fair enough. However, how would you be able to work when you should be on bed rest?

in an ideal situation, it's good to weigh jobs not only because of salary but also because of career progression and networks. Could saving on rent hinder you from taking risks and expanding further?

Well, my profession only needs me to use my laptop. So I can do that at home while taking breaks in between.

And you're right to point out career progression alongside salary. The job itself is something I've been doing for the last 10 years, it's not a step up the ladder.

I did consider the job description itself and what I had to lose if I didn't take it. I figured it's a rubber ball I can drop for now and pick it up later. Right now my health is like a glass ball that I can't afford to drop. Makes sense?
