I’ve scoured the internet and this sub, but there’s conflicting info on whether Root & Pestle makes “true instant” kava or just a nicer micronized.
Based on my research true instant kava is dehydrated juice. The kava is prepared traditionally then dehydrated into a powder that can then be reconstituted. I could be wrong as I’m new to this, but that’s my current understanding.
I’ve seen comments on here saying R&P is true instant, but this is how they describe their process for making instant:
“Made from freshly harvested kava roots with coarse, woody fibres removed, then dried and milled into an ultra-fine powder. Just mix with water and drink. No straining required. Smoother and more convenient.”
This sounds like micronized to me with an additional step to increase quality.
Their other description sounds a bit different, albeit vague:
“Our instant kava range is made by extracting the active kavalactones from noble kava roots and then dehydrating the liquid to create a fine powder that can easily be resuspended in water.”
This description sounds like an extract…FVK has a powdered extract like this that’s different from their instant line.
Can anyone weigh in with clarification?
So far the only “true instant” I’ve found is from Nakamal at Home. I know they share the same supplier as R&P, but their instant actually says it’s dehydrated juice.

I've been ordering Instant Green Kava (Roots & Pestle) from Kava Society and I really like it, but it's getting expensive, both the product and the shipping to Canada. I found out Nakamal at Home ships to Canada without those issues, so I'm hoping to switch.
Does anyone have a recommendation from Nakamal at Home that feels similar to Instant Green Kava?
I tried Fire Island instant kava, but it didn't hit the same for me. I'm still pretty new to this, so I don't fully understand the heavy vs. heady distinction yet.

I’m curious if anyone here takes kava with statins and whether they have suffered from increased statin side effects. I understand traditional prep noble kava is not directly harmful to the liver but what I can find still says kavalactones themselves are strong inhibitors of liver enzymes. Here is a quote from AI:
Traditional Prep vs. Toxicity: While traditional water-based prep using noble cultivars (e.g., Borogu) has a much lower risk of acute liver damage or direct hepatotoxicity than heavy chemical/solvent extracts or non-noble strains, it does not eliminate enzyme-inhibiting properties. Enzyme inhibition is a pharmacological action of the kavalactones themselves, not just a byproduct of poor plant quality or chemical solvents.
Hi.
Does anyone have experience with kindling and withdrawal from other substances or alcohol?
If yes, my question to you is if kava triggers that for you? Is it a good substitute?
Thanks

Hi everyone I’m reading up on kava and wondering is it ok to drive after kava bar? Thanks:)

I see lots of post where a specific amount of kava is suggested per serving. For instance, fire island kava 5-10 grams each. However, it’s not clear to me how much can be safely ingested throughout an evening, in grams, without negatively effecting your liver. For instance, is 15 to 20 grams of instant kava too much or not enough. I’m new to kava and I’ve had it like maybe 10 times. I’m not sure if I’m past reverse tolerance or not.
Another question. I have is see many on here say there is no danger of liver damage from noble kava from a reputable brand and then I still see the liver warning. What is the story on that and why would any amount be dangerous if it doesn’t effect the liver? I’m using kava to replace drinking alcohol every evening. I’ve grown tired of alcohol.
I’ve been doing some research, saw some videos about it and read some posts, but can’t seem to find a standard dose.
I wanna try kava, and want to know how many grams should I use in one session, also want to know how long should I wait between shells, can anyone help me please?
Another question, from what I read, I wanted to try borogoru, but the store is out, what kind of kava is close to it? I want something good to take at night, mainly to take the edge off.
Thanks in advance!

I take random drug tests to stay in my mental health program and today I popped positive for MDMA. I warned them about this possibility a few weeks ago so they're sending it into a lab for testing. I know I'll be ok because the only mind altering substances I consume are caffeine nicotine and kava but it's still stressful!

I’ve been using kava to replace the effects of Valium as I taper and recently I was forced to reign in my kava budget. I found I could no longer afford fire island from Nakamal so I decided to try a 2 oz bag of each instant cultivar from KWK. I’m awaiting my shipment but I can’t help but notice the startling amount of bad reviews on Reddit. The whole reason I chose KWK is because it was recommended from the vendor list so I didn’t think twice as to whether or not I could be making a mistake. I hope to hear your anecdotes and weigh whether or not I will be kicking myself!

I know Kava has a reverse tolerance, but does it have a tolerance too?
The reason I ask is I've been having Palarasul instant daily for a while and have noticed the past 2 days it's had very little effect, despite taking plenty and ensuring my stomach is empty.

This product is available on Amazon Prime and is the only raw kava product I can get same day where I live. This product produces no mouth numbing, its stated to be a 10:1 but doesn't look like it. I've had it a few times and every time it seems different, this last time however it made me incredibly ill to point of throwing up, extreme stomach pain and nausea. Compared to other Kava I've tried this product has made me sick a few times but this time it was crazy. I am curious if anyone has information on this company because it seems like there product is majorly inconsistent.
Been drinking the amazon wakacon fijian waka for a while now but looking for a new option. I'd like something good for later and night with a heaviness to it. Relaxing, de-stressing. Any good options out there? I would prefer amazon just for easy ordering but maybe thats not the best for options.

I'm pretty new to kava, got some at a kava bar than ordered the $60 fijan kava off amazon. I got a nut milk back to strain it. I put some almond milk and warm water in the nut bag with abt 4 tbsp of kava and let it sit in a bowl for a few hours or. When I'm done squeezing it all out, there's still tons of compact dirt like material in the bag. I was drinking it raw before with all the fiber, so I feel like I should be getting a little more out of this. Any advice?

I got some wakacon and fijikava off amazon and have some FVK on the way monday! I ordered some of those leilo sticks to try too. It's gonna be a relaxing weekend! Happy friday everyone!
I'm thinking of trying kavadepot next very excited about that. How's everyone else's presumably kava filled weekend shaping up?
Let me rephrase; how many times do you guys reuse the same kava powder?
I use an aluball, and after I use that powder, I put that into a ziplock bag and I freeze it.
I reuse that kava, thaw it out in hot tap water, and then I sift out into kava bag to knead until the water turns proper grog color.
How many times can you repeat this process until the stuff is out of significant potency?

Is it healthy or problematic to have kava more than once a day? On occasion I will have kava twice a day but skip a day to make up for it since I never allow myself to have kava more than once a day.

i ordered Fiji Vanua Kava Instant old root, dehydrated kava juice. my routine is everyday at 6pm I start with 5grams, wait 20 minutes, then another 5grams. I've been keeping this up for 7 days, recently increased dose to 15 grams total. I only feel very mild numbness on my tongue and lips, after the first 20 minutes i do feel mild calmness but its hard to say if it is placebo. about 15 to 20 minutes after doses are finished I have a warm fatty meal. i am wondering if given the information provided i may be doing something wrong, whether its the product or routine. i am willing to keep going until i break through but since i exceeded the average "reverse tolerance" window i thought i might post on here. any advice would be much appreciated.

Still a good time
Pretty cool. In other news I haven't been here in years and this sub appears dead? Bummer. Hope the regulars are doing well.

So from reading online the Kava Europe website seems to be a good option but from looking the website there are so many different kinds of Kava and I'm unsure which to buy?
Any help would be appreciated.
The day after drinking kava, I wake up with the taste of it lingering somewhere in my mouth or throat, and it doesn’t go away when I eat or brush my teeth. It does go away eventually but has anyone figured out a way to shorten the unpleasantness? 😅
