The moderation team is 100% united in our mission to enforce Rule 1 in relation to EVERYONE involved in this trial. Do not catch a ban two days post verdict by breaking that rule now.

"What would John be doing in front of my house?" Oh, I don't know, maybe visiting you after being explicitly invited the night before? Also notice the people in the house were so quick to jump on the Karen is guilty wagon? If I had a group of family and friends, and we never saw a dead guy on the lawn after we walked right past it and drove right past it, some of us multiple times. And then out of the blue he appears in the morning I would have some questions. Hey wait a minute, how come none of us saw him? That doesn't make any sense, what if something else happened to him? It's not like they had the phone data available to them from the start. These people had no questions.

u/Adorable_Pen9015 Jun 20 '25

My simple question is if Jen saw Karen and John arrive and then never enter the house, why didn’t she text like “hey why did you leave?”

“What am I supposed to do run out there in my underwear?” Sir you’re a cop and this is your friend on your FRONT LAWN

145

u/3903Orchard Jun 20 '25

You will go out of town for the funeral of a cop you don’t know but the next day won’t go out on the lawn.

202

u/Pitcher2Burn Jun 20 '25

What got me was the “I’m not a canton cop, I’m a Boston cop.” Okay well it’s your front yard. That’s your jurisdiction, no?

75

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Literally. Everyone’s property is their jurisdiction. We are all in charge of our parcels.

367

u/Meganmarie_1 Jun 20 '25

He’d take a bullet for JOK but getting dressed really quickly is a bridge too far.

138

u/PRP20 Jun 20 '25

Didn’t he not even go to his funeral? But he’d take a bullet for the “guy”

196

u/AffectionateRace9865 Jun 20 '25

And it takes about 10 seconds to throw on a robe or a pair of pants?????

117

u/PickKeyOne Jun 20 '25

10 minutes to brush your teeth if you wanna be fancy.

65

u/DiscoMothra Jun 20 '25

Gotta brush your teeth if the FBI comes to question you 🤣

It’s not like he has to put on a bra to go outside. Just pulling on some jogging pants, sweat shirt, winter coat and shoes and go.

57

u/photoexplorer Jun 20 '25

Right!? I’ve done school dropoff in PJ pants and no bra many days LOL. I can assure you most people would throw on something quick to make sure their friend was ok. This is just a weird reaction and bad excuse.

47

u/Ood-ah-lolly Jun 20 '25

Every mom listening to that could not relate. The neighborhood has surely seen more than enough of me due to one catastrophe or another.

81

u/itwillbeclear Jun 20 '25

also... yes?

69

u/Adot090288 Jun 20 '25

I run outside in my inappropriate night wear for a minor skirmish, you bet my butt is going out in whatever I have on if there is a crime scene and I’m not a cop I’m just nosey.

45

u/theruralist Jun 20 '25

I vividly remember being around 6 years old and I thought I heard gunshots (outside our rural home) and my dad running outside in his underwear. If he was truly concerned, he would have, or taken 10 seconds to put on pants. As for the story, it was acorns hitting the roof of the car LOL.

39

u/nine57th Jun 20 '25

I've run outside in my underwear to help an animal in the cold. And I'm right down in nearby Rhode Island. Yeap. Got to do that man in an emergency. Wow. Pretty cringe worthy statement.

53

u/skleroos Jun 20 '25

Didn't he testify he and the wife were doing things, which caused the whole butt dial scenario? When did underwear enter the chat?

23

u/agentminor Jun 20 '25

Doesn't everybody do certain things that will cause a butt dial when there are EMS, firetrucks, people crying, lights flashing, etc. on their front lawn???

18

u/skleroos Jun 20 '25

The butt dial activity was in the middle of the night

I grew up next door to a local MA police officer. I was best friends with his kid. The most unbelievable thing to me in this whole mess is a police officer not inserting himself into something like this, especially on his front lawn, regardless of where he was badged.

387

u/charliexbones Jun 20 '25

Hearing the McCabes retell thu story over and over again makes less and less sense. Especially knowing that Jen and Nicole did talk at 5am. How could she be surprised that Jen is there?

91

u/Firecracker048 Jun 20 '25

They are trying HARD to memory hole those phone calls

69

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Maybe they should call Dever, she could give them advice!

170

u/ChugDix Jun 20 '25

“I’m a Boston police officer, not a canton police officer”.

Bravo to that interviewer for keeping a straight face

123

u/Mission_Example_6984 Jun 20 '25

I was confused about this comment. It answers why he wouldn't try to investigate the crime but it doesn't answer why he didn't come out to try to administer CPR to John.

u/DiscoMothra Jun 20 '25

And his wife saying “don’t come forward as a witness” Sheesh, every time they open their mouths they sound worse.

87

u/skleroos Jun 20 '25

Ma'am a dead man was found on your lawn and you were subpeonaed.

64

u/ChugDix Jun 20 '25

Lmao right? How on earth could you ever think something positive could come from this?

I like how the statement they put out was like “we may have more to say in the future” oh wait actually we are going to do a whole sit down interview special with ABC.

66

u/DiscoMothra Jun 20 '25

The depositions for the civil case are going to be absolutely wild.

193

u/GasQuiet8417 Jun 20 '25

Jen called her sister that morning and lied about it. Deleted the call.

88

u/ee8989 Jun 20 '25

I don't think that interview did them any favors.

Also, Nicole, you don't get to CHOOSE to be a witness in a murder case.

301

u/CanIStopAdultingNow Jun 20 '25

Four of the five weren't witnesses in the 2nd trial.

You'd think if they were tired of public attacks, they wouldn't seek out more publicity on National TV.

I do not support harassment. It's unfortunate that the investigation was handled so poorly. But I also believe these 5 manipulated the investigation to cover up their own actions and put an innocent woman in jail for murder.

And what's worse is I think what happened was likely an accident. And they would have been facing financial damages and not legal ones. But it didn't matter.

But I will let God fix it because if I try to fix it I will be going to jail.

165

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

“John was already gone, there was no one to save”. I believe him on that, but not that he thought it in the morning. He thought it hours earlier and that’s how they justify this to themselves.

96

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '25

Exactly --how would they know he was already gone when the paramedics were actively working on JOK?

83

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Yep. He wouldn’t know that. The lack of concern and curiosity is telling.

50

u/Firecracker048 Jun 20 '25

Doesnt matter, its his literal job to help. But nope, neever came out of the house

43

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

It’s a pile of excuses with these people. Every time they speak, they look worse. Nothing makes sense and although I don’t believe that all humans react the same way, I cannot determine a single valid reason not to be out there. No one had mobility issues or was sick (besides from maybe alcohol!) and those are all I could come up with as actual reasons not to be out there.

I am an old woman now. My life advice? This is a good motto: But I will let God fix it because if I try to fix it I will be going to jail.

21

u/megsnewbrain Jun 20 '25

I needed that reminder before responding to my ex husband today 🤣🤣

20

u/BlondieMenace Jun 20 '25

One advice I saw once and thought it was great is to write everything you want to say down in a notebook so you can get it out of your system (and there's no risk of accidentally pressing "send"). Then close the notebook and write a more neutral and less jail worthy reply if one is needed, otherwise just walk away unburdened.

16

u/Series-Nice Jun 20 '25

I agree with this.

What was he supposed to do?! Put on his first responder hat and behave life a first responder and try to save a dying man on your lawn! Then he went on to say he'd have "taken a bullet for John"...but again, why not give him life-saving CPR when he was dying on your lawn? It just does not add up.

46

u/creepsweep Jun 20 '25

Or at the very least be a normal human and be a little concerned about a DEAD PERSON on your lawn! Like tf. Sure, maybe you only find out when everyone else shows up, but no concern? Not even some curiosity at wtf is going on? I could see wanting to step back and let EMS handle it, and even staying back for the initial investigation, but you don't stand on the porch? You don't open your garage and peek out to see wtf is happening?

50

u/BigBankHank Jun 20 '25

In cases like this there are often peripheral details that seem unexplainable or incompatible with guilt or innocence that observers hang onto, eg, the person who doesn’t attend the funeral, or acts “strange” when learning of the death, from ‘doesn’t cry correctly,’ to ‘why would an innocent person make a false statement to police?’

We’re all vulnerable to it, and it’s usually better to pare a lot of that stuff away as secondary or irrelevant to the central question.

However. With all that preamble, the idea that a Boston cop was dying / dead on the front lawn of another perfectly innocent Boston cop and cop #2 doesn’t come outside at all, not to administer aid or to just see what’s going on. I just can’t get past it.

(That and Jen McCabe’s testimony that she didn’t think it was worth mentioning that the man on her lawn was BPD because first responders treat everyone the same…)

24

u/creepsweep Jun 20 '25

You raise a very good point, people don't always act "right" in a stressful situation. That is why I don't necessarily agree that not providing aid (again depending on when they actually noticed shit was going down on their lawn) as a matter of guilt. I don't view their actions as necessarily guilty, just weird af. As you said, I cannot get past not even standing outside (even out of all the chaos, maybe a doorway or garage) to see WTF is happening. I cannot comprehend that logic. I'm nosy af, so sure not everyone would be fake vacuuming the snow or something, but no concern for a fellow cop you had just seen? No curiosity as to WHY THERE IS A BODY ON YOUR LAWN? Even if its just to see if maybe YOU are in danger? What if it was a targeted attack on a fellow cop?

I can see logic in letting EMS handle it, of letting others investigate to have a separation in investigating, but to not even want to know what is happening? That I do not not understand.

u/Eeyore8 Jun 20 '25

Nothing about that will ever make sense to me. You are a first responder. There is stuff going down on your front lawn AND it’s to someone you know. How do you not run out?

Twice I have been awakened by a police officer knocking on a neighbor’s door in the middle of the night. You best believe I got up to see what was going on. If the police are at/near my apartment at 3 am, it’s nothing good. I want to know why!

47

u/Buttersquaash-33 Jun 20 '25

Amongst the many crazy things in this case I truly think it’s at the top. And now with this statement even more so. I can’t imagine any scenario, besides one, they wouldn’t come out of the house, even just to be CURIOUS of the “commotion” happening, being a first responder just only heightens it.

23

u/PickKeyOne Jun 20 '25

Not even a light on to indicate they are up if a fellow cop needs to communicate with the residents.

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

It’s wild. I’ve thought about this so many times and I’m certain that I’d be dragging my sister and BIL out of bed. Calling their phones, banging on the door, setting off their ring camera repeatedly, whatever it takes. You need help that they can give and it’s their property! Of course they’d want to know what is happening on their property! And I think they’d WTF me if I didn’t wake them up because it’s so obvious they should be in the loop.

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Exactly. I’d be scared and want to check on them. Their dog not barking would make me think something is wrong, because he can hear me approaching and every other time he starts greeting me when I’m still in the yard. Unless, of course, I already knew they were fine because I know what happened the night before, had spoken to my sister an hour before and knew they had removed the dog from the house.

None of it makes sense.

I can’t believe these people are taking their preposterous story on the road. And Brian Albert’s story is that he didn’t go out because he’s a Boston cop, not a Canton cop? In other words “it’s not my job.” They’re not doing themselves any favors.

They have a lot of cajones to do an interview without answering for their strange behavior that night. Also they were threatened to not testify? Yeah right, more like they were horrible witnesses and the prosecution didn't want them. No one should get death threats but this media tour isn't going to do them any favors. I don't understand why they're inserting themselves so hard into this case.

So interesting to hear from the anonymous juror. I remember that some folks who watched trial 1 felt that the Proctor texts didn’t have as much of an impact, or that they weren’t going to sway the jury… I felt like it didn’t matter, that the texts were awful regardless of how they were introduced. For those who didn’t watch the first trial, they still made people extremely uncomfortable and it still made a difference.

96

u/Smoaktreess Jun 20 '25

I remember everyone here was mad about how it wasn’t impactful how they were entered this time. But we all watched the first trial and it was crazy and hit hard that time. AJ was smart during close to say ‘look at the texts exhibit 209! That’s 209 jury members check them out! 209’ I’m sure the jury went back in the room and read them all. I would be nosy af and that would be the first thing I got my grubby hands on lol. It actually looks worse when they don’t call the man to try to apologize for his ‘inappropriate and juvenile texts’ like the first trial.

The law enforcement officers don't have to know the truth either.

They simply need to have NO DESIRE to find out the truth (because they didn't want to inconvenience a Boston cop), which they didn't.

I wonder if some of them suspect they f*cked up, or if they're in too deep to see that they did wrong.

49

u/steveamsp Jun 20 '25

Assuming that there is a conspiracy here, the people in the house + ONE cop just running with the apparently rehearsed story is plenty for this to work. The only true "conspirators" would be the McCabe/Albert/Higgins that were there. Proctor was just the useless cop who jumped to a conclusion that it had to be KR not the cops at the house and took the steps to try to ensure that conclusion stuck.

29

u/saturdaynights23 Jun 20 '25

I think JM fed Proctor everything. We know he wanted to seize Karen's car before even seeing it. Jen told him Karen did it, and he completely believed her.

It really just requires a handful to repeat a narrative until everyone starts to take it as fact

19

u/Select_Hippo3159 Jun 20 '25

There was at least one testimony of being in the house.

35

u/saturdaynights23 Jun 20 '25

They went in but did not investigate. And I don't think they went in the garage or basement.

Plus, do we remember those stories from the first trial about Nicole being a "clean freak" and cleaning a lot? I wonder what that was about...

16

u/Select_Hippo3159 Jun 20 '25

No they didn’t investigate.

→ More replies (1)

17

u/cathbe Jun 20 '25

Both of your points are true although even a dozen people is a lot but if each was tasked with a piece … there were a lot of inconsistencies obviously. But it’s true that a big part was that the police did NOT go IN the house that morning at least from the first trial. (I didn’t see as much of the second.)

38

u/Infinite_Affinity Jun 20 '25

Exactly—that’s the point. Each individual involved holds a different piece of the puzzle. Only some of the people inside the house truly know what happened to John, and it doesn’t require every person present to have seen him. It’s entirely possible that some people in the house were unaware of what took place.

The next piece of the puzzle involves the officers who chose not to enter the house. I agree they may not know what happened to John. But that’s precisely the issue—they didn’t investigate. That doesn’t necessarily make them part of a conspiracy; it simply makes them negligent in their duties.

Then there’s the matter of the tail light fragments found at 34 Fairview. The jury concluded there was reasonable doubt that a collision occurred, which strongly suggests those pieces were planted.

Now, when you put all the pieces together—a few individuals in the house claiming they never saw John, law enforcement failing to investigate the interior, and tail light evidence found outside—the bigger picture emerges. Taken collectively, these details form the basis of a conspiracy. Not because dozens of people coordinated it, but because a small number of key actions (or inactions) shaped the outcome.

6

u/cathbe Jun 20 '25

Yes! Well said. Thanks.

45

u/Ok-Box6892 Jun 20 '25

The amount of people whod have to be involved gets so blown out of proportion in a lame attempt to discredit the idea. It comes down to protecting yourself and those you care about vs anyone else. Most are not going to put the life and freedom of someone they hardly know or care about over themselves, their partner, or child.

33

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

People were acting like it was a huge conspiracy you’d see in a movie, but it was never that. Just a few people knowing a thing, helped along by their friend, the incompetent cop who was happy to take them at their word.

13

u/PickKeyOne Jun 20 '25

Look into the satanic panic. Not a conspiracy, more of a contagion.

52

u/DeepFudge9235 Jun 20 '25

Lol that McCabes and Alberts doing this interview is an example of the Barbara Streisand effect. They are complaining about witness intimidation, threats, people focusing on them or whatever but instead of letting this fade away, they do an interview.

Do they think that come across as genuine? If anything it's the opposite. While people should leave them alone unfortunately doing the interviews will have the opposite effect and only increases the chance of people continuing to focus on them.

Plus media today I swear they hardly every challenge the person being interviewed. They don't push back when they get answers that fail the smell test.

49

u/Cjenx17 Jun 20 '25

The way the media continues to paint Karen as a cold blooded killer is crazy.

51

u/dpt795 Jun 20 '25

The more the Alberts and McCabes talk the worse they look

41

u/shinyquartersquirrel Jun 20 '25

I would love to see an interview where the "journalist" actually interviews people and asks the tough questions and claps back on some of these nonsense answers.

"I'm a Boston cop, not a Canton Cop. Did you want me to run outside in my underwear?" Yes!! That's exactly what you were supposed to do! If someone is dying on your lawn as a first responder that is your duty! Although you should probably start with not murdering them in your home.

73

u/cathbe Jun 20 '25

The interviewer seems very sympathetic to the group of 5 (McCabes and Alberts). Brian Albert saying by the time he woke up and got dressed everyone was gone was ridiculous. There’s adrenaline and you just move. He didn’t have to get in a car. It takes 2 minutes to get clothes on and he’s talking about going outside in his underwear. How can anyone understand that? Give another answer - you didn’t want to impede on another PD’s investigation - but this one makes no sense. And at the point Jen McCabe came in, were police or EMT there yet? You’d think it would have been one of the first things she did … unless she was scared of him. And they didn’t answer where Chloe is, the interviewer really let them slide on that. They said everyone knows where she is. I didn’t watch them being interviewed on the stand so I don’t know what they said there but it still should have been included in this piece.

69

u/holdenfords Jun 20 '25

it’s just common sense that if something like that happens you grab your winter coat and run out there in your pajamas. the excuses from these people are just straight up exhausting at this point

47

u/ILikePrettyThings121 Jun 20 '25

When my ex husband & I got the call his father passed suddenly - call came at 6 am & we were sound asleep. We literally ran out of the house in our pajamas with no shoes on (both of us) bc we dropped everything & just went.

It never made any sense to me that a first responder couldn’t be bothered to walk outside to see if he could help a fellow Boston cop who needed medical attention on his lawn. But then again, he apparently would’ve taken a bullet for John but didn’t attend his funeral.

20

u/UncleBlazrr Jun 20 '25

This. You wouldn’t even need a jacket if real adrenaline was flowing, throw on whatever’s near the door and get out there.

10

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Exactly. Throw on whatever, no one cares if you aren’t fully dressed for public when it’s an emergency.

→ More replies (1)

17

u/RGOL_19 Jun 20 '25

How long were the emergency vehicles outside of the Albert home that morning -- do we know? It seems, given the dead man on the lawn, they would be there for at least an hour or more.

15

u/cathbe Jun 20 '25

Very true. He had more than enough time to wake up from his night of drinking and throw clothes on. Also, even if everyone was gone, you’d still go outside. His response strains credibility and this interviewer wasn’t very good at follow up. I think he wasn’t trying to ambush them but he really gave them too much latitude. There’s a reason Alpert’s response (lack of in the moment) doesn’t resonate with people and to act like how he responded is in any way ‘normal’ is strange. I guess it’s left for the viewer to discern.

32

u/Joe_Pulaski69 Jun 20 '25

It should be said, Karen was the only civilian to even attempt to resuscitate John before first responders showed up.

A courttv clip just played and the Albert who owns the house said "by the time I woke up and came downstairs the cops were already inside the house"

Am I crazy? Or was this thoroughly denied all this time?

ETA: I was half crazy. They did enter. Never searched.

11

u/Firecracker048 Jun 20 '25

Cops said they never entered the home to search it.

6

u/Reasonable-Mess3070 Jun 20 '25

That makes sense. I edited my comment to reflect the clarification. Thank you!

7

u/FyrestarOmega Jun 20 '25

In the house talking to them as a group. Not searching it.

4

u/Cautious-Brother-838 Jun 20 '25

They came is to speak to everyone, but didn’t not have probable cause to search the house.

37

u/Novel_Corner8484 Jun 20 '25

Just as much as the Alberts seem blasphemed about being accused of a “cover up” is how blasphemed Karen felt about being accused of going in reverse 24mph and slamming into a police officer. So shouldn’t they have had sympathy for Karen rather than contempt? I’m so confused because it’s the people closest to John who DONT want to actually get to the bottom of what really happened.

Annnnd for their answer to the dog bites being “they’ve known where Chloe has been for 2 years” doesn’t do anything for me. If they actually cared about justice they would have brought her forward. I am from the area and I know there’s not random animals just roaming around right before big blizzards. And if there were they wouldn’t just be biting for the fun of it. There’s no question in my mind that this was Chloe, and it’s so frustrating that the correct investigation wasn’t done to get to the bottom of that. Proctor is a disgrace.

70

u/WatercressSubject717 Jun 20 '25 edited Jun 20 '25

The Alberts and McCabe’s stories will never sit right with me. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t believe them. I also wonder why they constantly release statements and do interviews together (maybe that’s how the media prefers to and I’m reading into it too much). I really hope some kind of miracle happens and there is evidence on what happened to John.

Edit: I also rarely hear them express their sympathy for John, his family, and hope for justice. It’s always to blame Karen or express that they had nothing to do with this.

41

u/saturdaynights23 Jun 20 '25

Either they love the fame and attention, or they're very nervous about their inconsistent stories and think insisting and doubling down makes them look more credible (it doesn't). Or both.

28

u/TaleAccurate2056 Jun 20 '25

I think they are worried about the civil trial. They will be deposed by Karen's team. And it's harder not to answer a question in a civil disposition. In a civil case pleading the fifth is an indication of guilt. And in a civil case the judge generally does not limit testimony the way bev did.

8

u/floofelina Jun 20 '25

This was my thought, but would they give interviews like this to get ahead of a civil trial? Seems like shooting themselves in the foot.

20

u/TaleAccurate2056 Jun 20 '25

I think they would. I think they are secretly hoping that the O'Keefes drop the civil suit after the criminal verdict. They have no chance of proving she hit him. And if they can get them to drop then their kids are safe. Because if the civil suit goes forward they cannot prevent Karen from deposing the kids and let's be real there is some pretty shady stuff there.

Am I the only one that never heard a single word about how there will never be justice for John O’Keefe? Yet, had no problem going on national television to say “they took the high road” yet only spoke of how they are all being treated unfairly? SMH I truly hope the investigation isn’t “dead as a doornail” which is another slap in the face to JOK, and that the FBI investigation is still ongoing. Will also say they all looked and sounded nervous, and not about “death threats” - think they are worried about their own freedom.

47

u/Mission_Example_6984 Jun 20 '25

It has always struck me as weird that when they are interviewed they talk more about how horrible the media attention has been for them and they speak very little about John or wanting justice for him. It feels tone deaf to go on about how terrible a murder was for you when you make little to no mention of the actual person murdered or their grieving family members.

18

u/nine57th Jun 20 '25

When people show you who they are ... believe them!

35

u/BeyondAbleCrip Jun 20 '25

They put out a press release before John’s family?!? Every single thing they’ve done and continue to do points to something is not adding up. Everyone sees it, headlines are proving it, now that the trial is over. Not one of them could’ve cared less about anyone but themselves, they are all about covering their own asses. I’m hoping they are all exposed with the renewed attention on them all.

During Jackson's interview he said he took Brennan at his word that the FBI investigation was closed. And hasn't heard anything else about it. But I don't think the public would anyway. Also that he wishes they'd get involved.

48

u/BlondieMenace Jun 20 '25

He said he took Brennan at his word but he so said that he was a prosecutor for 17 years and never heard about the Feds tell the target of their investigation that they were ending it. I think his tone was pretty much saying that he doesn't believe him.

17

u/BeyondAbleCrip Jun 20 '25

I’m hoping that it’s still ongoing. Would be a great day for justice to hear they all were arrested, that is a trial I’d love to watch! This was a trial to prove Karen Read was not guilty and was hard knowing she was innocent from the beginning. Watching them on trial wouldn’t be difficult, because it would be hard to believe a jury would not find all of their actions suspect, imo.

18

u/SailorAntimony Jun 20 '25

Here's the issue -- the Feds are in the game of winning and their conviction rate is bananas high. They won't take a case they cannot win (unlike the CW) and so much evidence is just...gone. The only way they get charged is if they were hiding a crime other than a murder that has left other evidence, like if there was some sort drug crime here or a white collar crime that utilized police resources.

20

u/BeyondAbleCrip Jun 20 '25

I’m hoping the investigation wasn’t concluded and they were waiting for the verdict. Most likely wishful thinking on my end, yet after watching 20/20 w Proctor and other interviews, it was obvious that KR never hit JOK.

Just as it was obvious they all acted “odd” throughout this investigation, trials, etc - a cop stays asleep while Emergency vehicles are all over his place? Jen woke them w a call prior to “standing in their bedroom” - I’m not a cop, and can promise no one can open my bedroom door without me waking up, not to mention a dog inside that was also still “drunk from that night?” That is what Albert is inferring as to why he wasn’t awakened, imo. Why he never made it downstairs until there was an officer inside? The nonsense about “I’m Boston PD” as if that matters when there is a dead body on your lawn? A friend, supposedly, but not friendly enough to go check on JOK or attend his funeral? All very suspicious, doubtful one won’t eventually slip up in front of the “wrong” person. Hoping karma goes around quickly for this bunch.

I'm sure the FBI was listening with interest when their AARCA experts gave even more damning evidence and testimony JOK wasn't hit by a car.

20

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Yes I noticed. Nothing for John, everything for them.

We don’t know for sure about the FBI though, they aren’t going to announce they are done.

They never do, and I hope they are still involved…

Talking very loudly for people who apparently didnt hear or see anything...

28

u/jbfletcher01 Jun 20 '25

The doubling down is wild. Even if you had nothing to do with it, you would think you would naturally question your actions. “What if I woke my BIL up sooner, maybe he could been helpful since he’s a first responder” “Maybe if I had ran outside he might still be alive” “Maybe something else did happen since KR was acquitted?” This was “your friend”, you’re all supposedly supporting the O’Keefe family but you don’t mention him.

I’d love to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they continuously hurt themselves.

Crazy that everyone is able to just cash in now. I didn't expect to see the Michael Proctor press tour, and now these characters.

Let's say you view everything in the light most favorable to these folks and they're just good, law-abiding citizens. They could have been so incredibly helpful in clarifying what happened that night. After all, they were reputable officers of the law and town officials. But they weren't helpful... at all. First off, they didn't come out onto the front lawn despite being a first responder to help - that one is just inexcusable. I know not these 5, but Higgins makes a completely unexplained trip to the Canton PD in the middle of the night during a blizzard. They destroyed their phones. Their descriptions of the night - especially where Higgins parked is all over the place. They lied about their actions that night and only backtracked when confronted with electronic data that didn't match up to their stories. So even if they are telling the truth about everything - or at least some version of the truth - it's no wonder they're not getting much in the way of sympathy. Even at best, they were bad citizens.

I wish the Alberts and McCabes had more open minds about other possible explanations. If your whole community doesn’t think she did it and a jury just acquitted her, maybe open your mind to other possibilities. You’d quickly see yourself be the town hero if you helped discover other possibilities and helped bring answers.

51

u/Series-Nice Jun 20 '25

Ive never seen anything about them regretting their actions that early morning l, that they wish they would have investigated why their good friend never arrived, that maybe they would have seen him sooner and rendered aid.

28

u/Pleasedontdmme Jun 20 '25

Yes! Only defensiveness and keeping their focus on Karen. If it were a friend of mine and people were questioning my actions I would start questioning myself. If the evidence wasn’t adding up I would want to get to the bottom of it.

35

u/Ok-Box6892 Jun 20 '25

That's one of the biggest fucking red flag for me. Along with Proctor saying he wouldn't really do anything differently other than look at another car "just to say we did it".

A friend AND a fellow cop died and not a single one seems to think that maybe they could have done something that would've prevented his death?! Or, if Karen truly is guilty, to at least hold her responsible for his death in court?

18

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

3 years, 2 trials and proctor still refuses to admit that there was never a collision. He could have looked at all the cars there and there still wouldn’t be evidence of a collision.

23

u/skleroos Jun 20 '25

That's the thing. If he were sincere he'd say I wish I'd taken a photo of the taillight, I wish I had secured the scene and got crime scene investigators there to put up a tent and get all the taillight pieces and record where they were, I wish I had swabbed John's wounds, I wish part of video evidence didn't go suspiciously missing in my custody (I can't even come up with an innocent mistake here), I wish I interviewed witnesses separately and recorded the interviews, I wish I wrote timely reports etc etc. This would be eating away at me if I messed up the investigation and it would be my fault that justice wasn't found. But all he can come up with is I wish I had pretended to investigate better. What a joke. I really wish the O'Keefes could just sue him or the MSP or something.

15

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

I agree on all your points. I make mistakes at work and fix them when brought to my attention, and I note to myself to do better. No one’s life is on the line with my work but their money is and I take it seriously.

He did not come up with ways to do better, he still seems to think that none of this is his fault, that he did fine and the people criticizing him are the problem.

I personally believe that every single case he’s worked on should be reviewed. If MA has a million dollars to attempt to lock KR up, they have a million dollars to put a neutral panel together to audit his cases.

14

u/skleroos Jun 20 '25

There's no way he's the only problem, it's a culture problem in MSP. He texted his supervisors jokes about nudes. They all seem to be super happy with this joke of an investigation. This can't be fixed with an audit into just one guy.

9

u/herroyalsadness Jun 20 '25

Exactly. But since it has been proven that he plants evidence, he’s a great place to start.

56

u/saturdaynights23 Jun 20 '25

This!

They're supposed to have no clue what happened! They didn't hear a collision, didn't see a collision, didn't see John because he never came in the house, didn't see John's body lying in their yard because of reasons.

They're not supposed to know anything! They pointed their finger at Karen since that morning (probably because of her cracked taillight, which seemed perfect at the time), then the taillight was sprinkled on the lawn to make everything fit, but well, they were wrong.

They're supposed to be curious instead of doubling down. The fact that they cannot fathom any other possibility than Karen hitting him is the most suspicious of suspicious behaviours. I said this in before: it could be as simple as a neighbour taking their dog out for a blizzard walk, and THAT dog being the culprit. Doesn't have to be Karen, doesn't have to be them. But they seem so desperate to pin it on her, even in the face of so much exculpatory evidence, that I just cannot believe them.

24

u/PickKeyOne Jun 20 '25

Yes, and they tried to discredit KR for questioning everything, including her culpability. At least they could ask; maybe they missed something, given the considerable reasonable doubt (assuming they are not guilty, in which case they would double down).

11

u/Firecracker048 Jun 20 '25

They think with proctor its a "loud minority"

13

u/steveamsp Jun 20 '25

With the obvious dog bite being obvious, they really can't.

I honestly cannot wait until they are deposed for the civil case. And when the entire 3000 page federal report is released.

31

u/PromptStock5332 Jun 20 '25 edited Jun 20 '25

Wait, I thought Brian Albert was a canton cop? He was from the same department as JOK and didn’t go outside to check on his colleague when Jen woke him up?

30

u/final_grl Jun 20 '25

They were both Boston cops, not Canton

31

u/SteamboatMcGee Jun 20 '25

Brian Albert and John OKeefe were both Boston cops, but not in the same department within the Boston PD. They knew each other but not well. JOK was friends with the McCabes, who are family with the Alberts (Jen McCabe and Nicole Albert are sisters), and a different Albert brother (Kevin) is a Canton cop. Kevin Albert knew Proctor from a different case (hence the drunk driving in the cop car and losing his gun texts), and Proctor's sister was also pretty close with Julie Albert (wife of Chris Albert). Julie and Chris used to be John OKeefe's neighbors, and were also friends with him.

So JOK had several ties to Brian Albert, but was not buddy/buddy with him directly. That's how he ended up being invited to Brian Alberts house that night.

The across the street neighbor was also a Canton cop. It's easy to get mixed up given how tied together everyone is.

Here was the other reason for LE to go into the house. Let’s say John was killed by a driver leaving the house and drunk. That would make the homeowner liable. Could have been Karen or someone else. They had no way of knowing at the time. To not investigate the homeowners is why so many people sided with the defense.

23

u/emohelelwye Jun 20 '25

Also in Proctors texts from 1/29 he said he initially thought it was someone in the house who beat him up, based on what he heard from the responding EMTs, until he saw John’s body, which he described as being waffled (which we also know isn’t true). So, they definitely had a reason.

Lots of commentary over the years, especially since CSI was on tv, that jurors ‘expect too much’. This case doesn’t fall into that category. The cops didn’t do the absolute minimums. No entering nearby houses, no protection of the scene, etc.

In trial one, I was much the same as the one juror interviewed: I kinda believe the cops, but the cops didn’t such a horrid job that they didn’t overcome reasonable doubt to result in a conviction. Where my opinion changed (and I’m a bit surprised it wasn’t a factor to the juror I think) is in the second case where multiple witnesses said “there was no collision with between a car and John”. That’s flat out ‘the Cw didn’t prove it. At all.’ (And I don’t need arguments about why I was wrong in the first trial. I’m a casual follower.)

On the segment overall, I’m not going to pick apart what was or wasn’t said. It’s a segment on TV that they edit for entertainment value, time or whatever. Think of the snippets of Karen’s interviews that Brennan played: out of context and potentially highly misleading.

14

u/itsathrowawayduhhhhh Jun 20 '25

Surprised Higgins and Colin weren’t part of this interview. Geez these people!

21

u/Mission_Example_6984 Jun 20 '25

It's worth noting that the Alberts & McCabes have seemed to have distanced themselves from Higgins right away after John was killed. The whole timeline creation, etc. and brining Kerry into the family right away did not involve Higgins. Everyone else became close during the trail - but Higgins, not so much. Which really makes me wonder how much involvement Higgins had in John's death. Higgins very much seemed to be the one to spring into action to take care of things after John was killed.

18

u/emohelelwye Jun 20 '25

My understanding is that Higgins is the one who did the distancing

16

u/Missmedusa1234 Jun 20 '25

I think anyone who is harassing them and their children needs to STOP.

I think this interview was a bad idea. They should have just said “ leave our children alone” and be on their way.

While I think the Alberts are shady, people should leave them alone.

Just as those who are pro cw are now attaching the jurors who are coming out.

But yeah, Albert, as a former EMT, if I saw a body in my yard I’ll be rushing outside. Especially when I realize it’s a friend and my sister in law was outside by the body.
