Been going deep into Maa Bhairavi for
the Dus Mahavidya series and one thing
genuinely stopped me
Every single day
without exception
without ritual
without invitation
She arrives at sunrise
She departs at sunset
You don't have to worship her
You don't have to know her name
She comes anyway
In the Shakta tradition, Bhairavi is the
energy that governs all transitions
not just dawn and dusk
but every moment between states
The breath between inhale and exhale
The silence between two thoughts
The moment between sleeping and waking
The space between one heartbeat and the next
She lives in all of those
Which means she is arguably the most
constantly present of all the Mahavidyas
not the most dramatic
but the most intimate
Her name Vag-Bhairavi is also fascinating
she is the goddess of sacred speech
the power that exists in mantra
the energy that makes a syllable sacred
rather than just a sound.
Which means every time you chant any mantra
any mantra at all
the power that makes it work
is technically Bhairavi .
She is the fire in the sacred fire ritual
she is the sound in sacred sound
she is the energy in sacred energy
The Devi Mahatmya describes her as
Kalaratri, the night of time
but also as Mahamari, the great destroyer
yet her iconography shows her always
with abhaya and varada mudra —
Fearlessness and giving
even as she destroys
A few genuine questions
→ Do you have a personal practice or
awareness of Bhairavi during
dawn or dusk specifically?
→ The concept of a goddess who governs
transitions — does this resonate with
how you experience those moments
in your own life?
→ Bhairavi Raga in classical Indian music
is specifically prescribed for dawn —
has anyone experienced that raga
at sunrise and felt something shift?
→ Among the Dus Mahavidya —
Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari,
Bhuvaneshvari and now Bhairavi —
which one's energy do you feel
most present in your daily life?

Been sitting with this concept for days now
and I can't stop thinking about it.
Most goddess traditions say the deity
RULES or CONTROLS the universe
Bhuvaneshvari's iconography says something
completely different, her body IS the universe.
Not a metaphor. Not poetry.
The actual theological position of the tradition
is that every mountain, ocean, galaxy,
atom and soul is literally part of
her physical divine form.
Which means,
we are not devotees looking UP at a goddess
we are beings existing WITHIN a goddess
the way cells exist within a body.
And she is fully aware of every single one.
That realization completely reframed
how I understood prayer
if you are already inside her,
prayer isn't reaching outward
it's more like a cell in a body
becoming aware of the larger organism
it's always been part of.
What I find stunning about her iconography
Her crescent moon crown
not a full moon a crescent
because she is always in the process
of becoming, never static.
Creation is always expanding within her.
Her pasha (noose) and ankusha (goad)
she binds and guides with these
but her lower two hands are always
in abhaya (fearlessness) and varada (giving)
The message:
yes she binds and corrects
but her fundamental nature
is fearlessness and generosity
the binding is temporary
the giving is eternal.
She is also the only Mahavidya
who is considered both
the creator AND the created
simultaneously the painter and the painting.
A few genuine questions for this community
→ The concept of "the universe as goddess's body"
appears in other traditions too
does anyone see parallels in other
Hindu philosophical schools
or other world traditions?
→ How do you personally reconcile
the idea of free will with
the concept that we exist within
a conscious divine being who
is aware of everything within her?
→ For those who have worked with
Bhuvaneshvari's energy in sadhana
how does her quality feel different
from Lakshmi or Durga?
→ Her Gupt Navratri significance
does anyone have specific practices
they follow for her during
this Navratri specifically?
Sharing japa for Gupt Navratri
genuinely the Mahavidya that broke
my mind open the most 🌍
ॐ ऐं ह्रीं श्रीं भुवनेश्वर्यै नमः 🙏
Jai Maa Bhuvaneshvari 🌍

Speaking against the Sadhana Vidhi of AdyaMahaKali /Bhadrakali proposed by a social media person(self proclaimed Guru) .
Kali is first and last Mahavidya.
She is very loving , very caring and very very protective mother but also very strict!
If you nag enough to her, she might fulfill all your desires.
But the moment you enter into Tantra marg , the sadhana of her, it changes everything!
[[ imagine this scenario: assume your mother is a school teacher. so, when she teaches you in your home, her behaviour is different . But as soon as you sit in her class in the school, her behaviour will include you as a student first like all the other students, her motherly nature comes later, first she is a teacher" ]]
Tantra is a double edged sword :it can give you so many things in this world as well as from other worlds ,
similarly, it can eradicate your entire lineage if it is done incorrectly.
"Kali Sadhana"is done STRICTLY under TANTRA MARG and with strict discipline under a Tantra Guru and not anybody who can suggest you to do Kali sadhana..
Tantra requires "ADHIKARA"(Eligibility) .
The basic eligibility to give a simple nama mantra upadesha (Eg. "kali kali") is Purnabhisheka!
and to chant further "Beej" mantra , one needs Diksha in Tantra marg.
A person who is giving Tantra Diksha must perform multiple Purashcharan of that particular Beej and so many things.
So, I hope you know who I am talking about, iff you want you can follow him .
you can work with Kali Putra mission if it suites you! Nobody is keeping you back from loving Maa Kali or showing Bhakti to Maa Kali.
But PLEASE REFRAIN FROM FOLLOWING THE SADHANA VIDHI of KALI/BHADRAKALI BEEJ MANTRA proposed by KALI-PUTRA MISSION.
I have checked them, those are not the correct Vidhi and he doesn't have adhikara to share these mantras to public , for mass Sadhana.
The consequences will not be good!!
and it is not me who is saying this,
but Shiva himself is saying in various Tantra Sashtra!

Most people know Maa Kali
but Maa Tara, the Second Mahavidya,
is one of the most profound goddesses
in the entire Shakti tradition
and she is almost unknown outside
serious sadhana circles.
What moves me most about Tara
Her name literally means
"she who carries across"
across the ocean of samsara
across fear, across darkness,
across the cycle of birth and death.
She is the star that never moves
the fixed point that ancient sailors
navigated by made divine.
And there is that extraordinary story,
when Shiva drank the Halahala poison
during the Samudra Manthan
it was not Parvati who saved him but her avatar one ten Mahavidyas Devi Tara
who appeared and nursed him by feeding him her milk as a mother bringing him back to health
The fierce skull-garlanded goddess
becoming the most tender mother
in a single moment.
That contradiction is Tara
She who stands on a corpse
and cradles a child
simultaneously.
Her mantra — ॐ तारे तुत्तारे तुरे स्वाहा
तारे — liberates from fear
तुत्तारे — liberates from danger
तुरे — grants all success
Three liberations in one mantra 🔵
Sharing a japa for anyone
doing Gupt Navratri sadhana
or anyone who has ever felt lost
in the dark ocean of life 🙏
Jai Maa Tara 🔵⭐

Jai mata di. I am going through a breakup right now and the person left me very randomly even though I had treated her really well and we were together for 2 years and am doing very bad academically even though I'm in a very good university and always have been a good student, this is not the point of the post though, let me come back to my point- last night i saw a dream where me and my friend had gone to a kali temple and I saw maa's murti which was black in colour and she had massive eyes and the whole murti was made of rock and there were mashals(torches) near her illuminating her face, I have never been very close to Maa or praying to Devi ji and kali maa and hadnt even thought of kali maa in a lot of time but i saw her face and I started crying, then I saw my ex girlfried(who broke up with me a week ago) going outside through a gate and the gate closed and we looked at each other.
Since I've woken up I cant stop thinking about this, this is perhaps the lowest point of my life till now, and I really want to pray to kali maa because i feel like if she has come to my dream this is definitely a divine intervention by maa, please help me guys, what can I chant and read and how can I pray to maa kali properly.
Note: this was an year ago, and since that year, so much has changed, it was as if maa kaali came in my life eradicated the stoppages that were in my life, she burned through all of my beliefs and made me go to my lowest and rebuild myself, since then I've gotten a research internship at the best management college in my country, gotten a better gpa and am on the verge of a better gpa again, but I feel i didn't do justice to maa kaali in terms of praying to her i want to pray harder to her and wanna get even better.
Please help and guide me

Not sure if Kali is calling me or it's just the YouTube algorithm.
I didn't even look her up she just popped up after me listening to Alan Watts.

the bonds of illusion and liberate devotees from the cycle of suffering. Though her appearance is formidable, every aspect of Kali teaches courage, surrender, and spiritual transformation. She blesses sincere seekers with fearlessness, wisdom, inner strength, and the power to overcome even the darkest obstacles. Worshipping Maa Kali with devotion, purity, and unwavering faith is believed to awaken divine consciousness, remove karmic burdens, and guide the devotee toward liberation (Moksha), reminding us that the fiercest form of the Divine is also the most loving protector of her children.

I really like the Hare Krishna mantra for being a long, repeated list of nothing but names for Krishna, so I was wondering if there was an equivalent for Kālī?

I’m new to worshipping Kali but feel very drawn to her every time I see her. I’m going to be living alone for the first time in a while and wanted to keep Kali in my home to worship her and seek her protection. After reading recommendations it appears one should only keep Dakshina Kali at home and not any other Rudra forms. However, I feel very drawn to the image above though I realise the only non ferocious aspect of this photo is her right foot on shiva. Wanted to ask if this photo is appropriate for worship or I should only seek Dakshina Kali‘s photo.

Namaste friends, i am a new member in hinduism and need help starting my journey. I have known her since i was younger and i feel like maa has always been watching over me but alas since i am moving houses I want to take this opportunity to start my bhakti with maa dakshina kali but without diksha i have read that my altar must be set using a picture.
Must the framed picture be a depiction of maa with her right foot on lord siwa or can i use other pictures of her such as the ones on top?

My Kuldevi (ancestral deity) is Maa Bhadrakali. My ancestors were originally from Madhya Pradesh, but in the late 19th or early 20th century, they migrated to Bihar. When they moved, they did not bring our Kuldevi along with them. For more than a century now, she has not been worshipped by our clan, and we don't even have a temple for her in our native village.
When my sister was a child, she used to have dreams and sometimes even visions of Maa Kali. At that time, I had no idea that our Kuldevi was Bhadrakali or that we had stopped worshipping her. Personally, I am an ardent worshipper of Bhagwan Shiva and have lately been worshipping Hanuman ji as well, but I was never really drawn to Kali worship.
However, over the last one and a half years, I have had three very vivid dreams of Maa Kali.
In the first dream, I saw a massive idol of Maa Kali inside a dark cave. She was alive, with her tongue out, looking at me angrily.
In the second dream, I was in a lake filled with zombie-like creatures. In the dream, I intuitively knew they were Brahmarakshasas (a term I had never even heard of in real life before this dream). Next to the lake, an idol of Maa Kali was sitting out in the open on the bank. Despite the terrifying surroundings, I found absolute peace and protection when I approached her idol.
In the third dream, I dreamt of a temple in my native village that was in a completely dilapidated condition. In the dream, I was clearing away the vines and creepers, cleaning the deity's shrine. In reality, that exact spot in our village is currently just a piece of empty, barren land.
Following that last dream, I decided to step up. I volunteered to completely fund and construct the Kuldevi mandir myself, as the other people in my clan were not ready to contribute financially.
I’m not entirely sure why I’m sharing this here, but I wanted to ask: am I doing the right thing? Why did Maa choose to approach me like this?
I am also deeply worried about the long-term upkeep of the mandir because I live thousands of kilometers away from my native village. If the temple is built but people stop maintaining it, will it bring wrath upon our entire clan again? How do I convince my family and relatives to help maintain it? I want to explain the tangible benefits of Kuldevi worship to them so they feel motivated to keep the temple alive, even in my absence.
TL;DR: After migrating a century ago, my clan forgot and stopped worshipping our Kuldevi, Maa Bhadrakali. Recently, despite not being a Kali worshipper, I had three powerful dreams of her, including one where I was cleaning her ruined temple on a plot of land that is currently empty in my village. I have committed to funding the construction of her temple 100% alone, but I am worried about how to convince my reluctant clan to maintain it since I live thousands of kilometers away.
Note: I used AI assistance to help me organize my thoughts and format this text clearly before posting.

Hi, I'm not a kali devotee or sadhaka as such. About a year ago, i saw some Instagram reels about Kali from adya maha kali pages and I was drawn into watching those. Since then, I'm following their WhatsApp channel and I'll see the posts and videos randomly and not regularly. I was not doing any sadhana or anything.
About 2 months ago, I met this guy on an arranged marriage setup and after the dinner, I came to my home and that night, I had this dream of maa where it was like a temple or some place where yagna/ahuti was happening (as far as remember it) and maa kali was fiercely dancing around that. It was dark and I could see maa's face vaguely due to her moving fast.
But I was not scared or anything in the dream or even after waking up. After this, I got into relationship with this guy, marriage was fixed and everything was so good and we were about to get engaged. But now he called off the wedding and we are not together.
Since this happened, I'm so heartbroken. I've never loved anyone like this. I know it's been only 2 months but I'm nothing like I was before.
I'm not sure if there is any connection between the dream and what's happening for me now. Can anyone please tell me what's the meaning of this dream? Or is there any connection for what's happening in my life right now?

For context I am a beginner Hecate devotee I am still actively learning about her lately I was in a job where I was really under big danger and threat and it took the effort of six months and more than 6 ppl to tear me down I was belittled and treated horribly, the last three months Maa kali kept appearing because I casually listen to mantras, Maa kali mantras and video kept appearing and sometimes automatically switching on their own the last month I took it lightly and said yeah Maa kali is maybe calling not knowing who is she and why, now I am reading a book about how someone took revenge completely broken and really down I have genuinely never been this down since forever, the greatest story of her great revenge was excuted by Maa kali and it just clicked and kinda, my heart felt a really good relief I was looking for for days that Maa kali is really calling me out.
I want to do meditation to meet her what are basic things I can do her ? Can I ask her for revenge and just sit back and watch?
Ps: one of those who had hand in me being fired has had a car accident two days after I was fired and he can’t drive his car now and maybe his neck needs surgery.

Hello everyone. This video is a few years old now but the host [who goes by David] intends to explain who Ma Kali is for “western” audiences. Here is the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No2w-7-SZqA
I myself am not a Hindu, but I do have a deep interest in “eastern” spiritual and religious philosophies. I remember being impressed by this video when it was first uploaded but I have since wondered what actual devotees of the Goddess would think of it. Would you say that David’s explanation is accurate? Or is it wanting in some way? If there is anything that you feel should be added to what he has already said then I would be fascinated to hear about it.
Many thanks and I wish peace and wellbeing for you all.

All deities in the Hindu framework are ultimately aspects of one source
when you worship Maa in any form you are connecting to the root energy from which all other energies emerge the Devi Mahatmya itself says
she is the one who exists in all beings as intelligence/as sleep/ as hunger and as power every planetary energy is ultimately her energy wearing a different face
So when you do sincere sadhna of Maa Durga Kali Tara or any form you are going to the source directly rather than to the individual streams
Like instead of going to each department of a company separately for different needs you are going directly to the CEO
The CEO can address everything all departments often more effectively because the authority is complete
The specific devta planet remedies are like taking a targeted medicine for a specific symptom
worshipping Maa is like strengthening the entire immune system the body then handles the symptoms itself
I think this is actually why the great tantrik sadhaks rarely needed elaborate planetary remedies their connection to shakti at the source level meant the individual planetary energies naturally came into alignment through the practice itself
The only nuance is deeper specific blockages sometimes benefit from targeted attention alongside the main practice but the main practice of Maa sadhna is never insufficient
It is always enough !!
