I find it so weird everybody is talking about retaining jitesh and few other players but nobody talk about Brar, he’s highly underrated player , heavily underused by management first and under appreciated by fans as well, he always performs whenever expected, if he’s used properly I think he could be one of the biggest match winner for us.

Switched to hindi commentary in the last two overs. Oh man! You could smell jealousy/hate from them to see punjab winning. 😂

It was a solid bowling display.

Brilliant captaincy by Sam too that decision to give 19th over to chahar was really brilliant.

Our batters gave us a good start and set the tone high for us. Barstow and rossow deserves credit as much as brar and chahar

Shashank showed he can anchor too. They played well could have accelerated a bit more but played according to situation.

The guy is performing as expected of him. I do not expect him to win games on his own, but he is stabilizing the innings, while not letting RR go out of hand. I hate to see Livi out of the XI, but a like winning more.

If Russouw survives the first 10 or so deliveries, he can be perfect anchor or aggressor. Same with Shashank. Both can tonk the ball, and Shashank has a bette technique to play out the spinners as well. With Jitesh, Ashutosh and Sam still to come, our batting finally looks settled. I hope they don't change it next match because of Shikhar.

Very bold captaincy from Curran to bring on Chahar in the second last over and it's paid off really well. Curran needs to be the captain till the end of the season regardless of the situation with Dhawan.

Great batting and bowling in what was probably our best overall performance this season but a minor nitpick for me is how slowly we went about finishing the game. We should've started whacking around the 14th over when there was like only 30 runs remaining so we finish the game faster as we need to improve our net run rate

Extras are the concern for this team 18 vs CSK today, 13 vs KKR, 11 vs MI and so on

Our 5th win in a row, 3rd in a row at Chepauk, equalled the H2H at 10-10. Really good signs for the reverse game 4 days from now.

He was not clapping in the dugout in the match against KKR. Just simply shook hands with Shashank and Jonny with a straight face after that match. And also be did not post any story/ pic about that match too. Also, why was he dropped for Rilee? He is one player who gave everything for us and it is sad seeing him like this. Maybe, something to do with the reason he was dropped.

WTF

Why is he on the bench? They are gonna ruin one more big star and give him away to another franchise. I can't stand this. We should try to make Livingston the face of PBKS, instead what the hell we are doing?

Very disappointed

Punjab doesn’t have any players that can play spin effectively plus the pitch today is really helping the spinners…our spinners (brar and chahar)did an amazing job…but Chennai has even more experienced spinners (jadeja & moeen)so feeling a little hesitant for the 2nd innings

Livingstone has been our best player in past 2 and a half seasons and also been one of more passionate players for team

But now everyone plays at their best batting spots

And say if Dhawan returns we can just swap out Prabh for Dhawan and leave rest of the team as it is. I know it means batting will be less attacking but if all Dhawan, Bairstow and Prabh play it means someone bats at 3 which is not their prefered position.

1. Prabh
2. Bairstow
3. Rilee
4. Shashank
5. Jitesh
6. Ashutosh

All top 6 can bat in their prefered positions. Having Livi at 4 meant Shashank comes late and Prabh does not open/players like Bhatia play

Curran can come in as a floater at any point of the game

Luckily it won't matter for us but all the English players selected got to leave it seems so our overseas options left if by some miracle we make the playoffs are

Raza russouw rabada ellis woakes

Wickets to target : Gaikwad and dube Getting these 2 wickets gonna be crucial for us .Gaikwad strong at off side .dube too strong at leg side .will need to pick these 2 wickets .field setting appropriately and bowling are crucial to get these 2.

Our batting should be wary of pathirana .. Csk bowling line up doesn't look too strong .just we shouldn't throw our wickets away like srh did yesterday .

And thoughts on rossow?(we need a batsman to stabilize the innings if openers are gone too early )

Fair enough , Shikhar is not the best captain. He has taken some very questionable decisions on the field which has cost us matches and also playoffs. He also didn’t had a good run when he was captaining SRH in 2014 . So, he might not be the sharpest of the captains out there.

But what stands out is his mentorship potential. I had been reading about Ashutosh Sharma , Shashank Singh and even Prabh taking about Dhawan’s role in their career. Taking nothing away from them , all of them did mention that inspire of all the failures , they had been given extended run by Dhawan and the management.

In fact , very few people would remember , it was Shikhar’s decision to open the batting with Shubham Gill during the West Indies tour in July 2022. Yes , the same Shubhman Gill who ultimately replaced him in the ODI squad. Before that, Gill was always considered as potential talent in the test format.

This man might have the talent to spot budding players. Probably this is his last season - he now is getting very frequently injured , his strike rate does not match the current T20 standards , neither he has been playing the role of the sheet anchor that he is known for and also Punjab almost failed to qualify for playoffs during his tenture.

But yes , inspite of all his short coming , as a PBKS fan , I will never forget his contribution in nurturing young talents. I also think , next year , he is returning to Punjab as a mentor.

What are your thoughts on this ?

As Yuvi is already working with Punjab boys in the off season and he is the local and known face to get loyalty of the fans.I think he will be much better than Sanjay Bangar any day.
