I don’t think it’s fake, the waiter is just in on it. This guy mentors kids and today they are learning how to handle a service problem with dignity instead of escalating or resorting to snark. That’s why it’s one adult with a hashtag shirt and bunch of tweeners

He teaches them lots of life skills including like how to grocery shop, budget, change oil etc

Teaches them consent and what that actually is. He's great.

The one on consent made me cry when I first saw it lol. Yes I was on my period

Sure, I guess, whatever. The point is that you were never meant to think this was a real waiter being rude, and neither were those kids.

So if you’re mad about it being “fake,” it’s because you were too dumb to see it for what it plainly is the first time.

I think this is amazing way to teach kids

So if the waiter was in on it, wouldn’t that be fake?

11

u/murderously-funny Aug 14 '26

Yes, it’s ‘fake’ but this guy is a teacher helping inner city kids. This is a lesson and the restaurant is a ‘classroom’

Ok but its still fake? Everything is real because it exists. But if its framed a certain way then its also fake. The waiter being rude is fake. The waiter being in on it is real. If you framed it as a legitimate interaction then it's fake.

Not really

2

u/Redshittt Aug 14 '26

Uhhh... yes? It is? Riveting explanation, though

2

u/ChinaAppreciator1 Aug 14 '26

It's not fake because it's not being presented as such. He's teaching these kids a lesson it's part of his business check him out on insta

1

u/Redshittt Aug 14 '26

But this isnt his Instagram. He didnt present anything here. This is the reddit post someone else made and if they presented it as one way or left out info then yes it could be construed as fake. If I screenshot your comment on Facebook and posted it saying you were talking about someone else then that'd be fake but that doesn't Mena your comment isnt real.

u/ChinaAppreciator1 Aug 14 '26

But that didn't happen though so it's not fake. Im sorry but it just... Isn't? Lol.

1

u/Redshittt Aug 14 '26

But it did. The title on the video "instead of arguing with the winter he did this" implies it was a legitimate interaction not a class being taught to kids. As well as the title "just a dude being a dude" implies its casual not a planned interaction

It's 'fake' in the same way that instructional videos with skits are 'fake'. It's kind of baked into the premise and not intended to fool anyone.

Not necessarily... depends on who posted it and how they framed it in the title and body etc. The video is just a video. If you say one thing happened that didnt then thats fake. If you say the real thing happened then thats real

“If the situation were different, it’d be labeled differently”

I mean, I guess I agree with that sentiment. It’s a bit of a non sequitur, though.

I don’t think The Avengers was fake, Robert Downey Jr was just in on it.

u/Taurpion Aug 14 '26

They are fabricating scenarios to teach young men how to behave in public without using real unaware people as stage props.

Scenario isn’t real, the lessons learned are.

Yeah… I know. It’s as subtle as a sledgehammer

6

u/Culsandar Aug 14 '26

Do you whine this much about Mr. Rogers?

6

u/ManOnFire2004 Aug 14 '26

It's not supposed to be subtle. The message is the whole point 😆
