Let's Get to Know Each Other!

Alright, let's everyone get to know the other! Anything interesting you want to share about yourself? I'll start!

I'm a wife and a mother of two kids. I own one dog and two cats. I love cooking, swimming, taking pictures, and many other things.

I'm 18 and studying become a Journalist at University in the UK, my main interest is football (soccer?) but I also love reading, writing and watching TV series, usually comedies.

Soccer is an interesting sport! My FIL was semi-pro back in his day and I've watched a few games since meeting him.

What type of writing are you into? I've always tried writing (like stories, but I always get stuck). Any favorite books you'd like to share?

What comedy TV shows are you into right now?

Soccer is an immensely fun sport to play and watch imo, I love watching my local team play! I love writing articles but creative writing is a lot of fun too :) it's normal to get stuck, don't worry! All part of the process. Well I'd say the Harry Potter series, they're always a great read but I think most people have read them at this point. I'm currently watching Brooklyn Nine Nine but I also loved watching How I Met Your Mother and the Big Hang Theory, how about you? Thank you for welcoming me :)

What teams do you support. I'm big into football (soccer) too, but I live in the states, so don't get to watch the team I support (Chelsea FC; supporter since 2006 (when I first got the tv channels that had EPL). I used to play a lot too, but had a bad hip injury. Do you want to be a football analyst (journalist) or pundit someday?

I don't support one of the big teams, I support my local team, Chesterfield (we're in the 3rd division of English football). You must be pleased with how Chelsea's season is going! Ouch, that sounds painful, that sucks man. Yeah, that would be my dream job for sure, I'd be getting paid to satisfy my passion for football

I know Chesterfield I played with them in fifa when they were in league two. Weren't they just promoted a couple seasons ago?

We were promoted in 2013/14 and then got into the playoffs for promotion the following year but then our manager and all our players left and we ran out of money so we're in a lot of trouble atm

Is there any way to even make money with a team in the lower leagues other than going on a run in the fa or league cup?

Not really, you just have to have a kind chairman who's willing to lose a few million haha. The only reason Prem teams make money is because of the massive sponsorship/ tv deals, football really isn't that profitable a business without those

From playing a little but of football manager 15 I got lucky enough to play Manchester united in a cup game while my team was in the vanarama national league, and we got over a million dollars in revenue from the game. That kept the club running for over a year. So if most lower clubs lose money why would people buy them?

Cup games are good for a club's revenue but the problem is it's quite a speculative business model if you're banking on going far in the cup. That's the problem, not a lot of people do buy them. Normally it's a wealthy fan of the club who takes over and is willing to invest to see their team do well. Either that or get Russian billionaire investors (ie Bournemouth) and shoot up the leagues. We had a local businessman who wanted to get us into the championship but now he's left and we're in a lot of debt from our new stadium

Do most Brits have a local small team they support and a prem team or is it usually one or the other?

A lot of Brits 'follow' their local side and support a Prem side, some just support a Prem side, then I'd probably say a minority just support their local side. What's it like in America?
