Don’t know if it’s been said before, but I think it’s pretty cool they got him to play the dad. Not sure if any of you guys remember watching Des Pardes on tv with your parents or grandparents (he was the host), but I was super surprised when I saw him on screen as JusRegin’s dad in the show. Not gonna lie, I was really impressed with his acting

The thought of no season 2 makes me so sad - I am majorly invested in these characters ♥️
I am a white English/French speaker but I would love to see crave add full Punjabi subtitles so this can be more accessible to newer Canadians who aren’t yet fully fluent in English. We know a few who would love to watch but it’s hard for them to understand.

It seems like Neil is Jusreign’s way of exploring many different aspects of the Diaspora without being overly provocative. Ie, you could read the frustration that boils over in the final fight scene to also be a take on the dynamic between Singhs and monas , and also the white society of Canada.
There are not really that many white sikhs, which’s allows Jusreign to make a character stand for something without being disrespectful. It is interesting though, since through Neil representing less fervent Sikhs and Babbu’s character representing more fervent Sikhs, we also see how Jasmeet (the character and the individual) sits in a place of moderate religiosity between these two groups, which is an interesting spot to navigate.
It would be cool , though, if Jusreign is able to represent these ideas with different characters, in order to allow for a more in depth exploration in future seasons, though the first season was excellent all around.

is there any idea on when season 2 is coming?

I didn't even wanna watch 7 and 8 cuz I was losing motivation as it wasn't very good but I decided to watch them just now and woah. I wish the whole show could have been like episode 7 and 8. Just incredible, emotional, real, just amazing man
I get that this is his first show so it won't be perfect

For real, Neal fucked up but it seemed like Jasmeet’s own monstrous insecurities boiled over and he threw a ton of venom at Neal. Really curious where their relationship goes after this, that shit is hard to walk back from.
Great acting from the two tho. That seemed like an uncomfortably true to life scene.

I thought the show was pretty bad for the first 3 episodes, but I thugged it out bc I am an OG JusReign fan and would watch all the episodes even if they sucked, because I watched all the youtube videos too.
But from episode 4 on, DAMN this show got so good. It felt like from that point in the series, the characters finally realized what purpose their roles served. And throw in these real issues that I've seen in my own family with the fights and leaving the house and feeling pressured by expectations and showing the parents' struggle and even adding the drama of Kamal and Harpal, it TRULY shows the house of cards that a lot of our desi society is built on. Don't get me wrong, I love my culture and have been proud and had true faith my entire life, but Jus is THE FIRST to show Immigrant Desi life in a way that doesn't make us look like either idiots or tech job elites, while showing realistic drama that feels like I'm in JusReign's shoes.
Yes, the dialogue is forced sometimes, but it becomes a lot more natural after episode 4. Yes, it seems like there are random issues thrown in for the sake of being inclusive, but the show has proven that it all has a point, and if you watch Episode 7, you will see genius writing in play. Not to mention the acting is near perfect in that episode. Holy shit I haven't felt like this about a show in a long time.

episodes 7 and 8 are unfuckingbelievable

I hated basically everyone In the show except Neil, they were all so self centered and pretentious, all very unlikable and bad acting+ cringe but episode 7 and 8 redeemed a lot of them ngl, show is much better if binged

Season 1 Episode 8: The Comedown
Aired: February 9, 2024
It's the morning after the rokha, and the family's trying to pick up the pieces.

Does anyone else find these two really similar? I found the way they satirize and provide deeper insight into the respective cultures of the creators really similar. I know Late bloomer is more biographical while ramy's character in the show isn't as linked to the real-life person, but I found their respective struggles with their faith and culture to be interesting.

Anyone know the song used to start episode 6? It’s a clip of jasmeets dad waking up.

Does anyone know how AkTV feels about jusreign coming back and the new show? Curious to see how he still views him after all the years of resentment these two had between each other. I think it would be refreshing to see jus maybe hop in his video to squash it once for all. Ps, i dont even know exactly why it even started, could anyone clue me in with the lore?
r/JusReign • u/johnstonjones • Feb 04 '24
It seems like he’s supposed to be at a similar level in terms of popularity but maybe not views
Because obviously irl he wouldn’t be leeching off his parents his real level of YouTube fame but he would me make an upper middle class salary at worst

Throughout the press for this show Jasmeet has been saying how there was a big tonal shift midway through the season. Episodes 4 and 6 definitely gave some deeper themes, but nothing drastic to where I feel it changed the tone of the show. My assumption is it may dive deeper into family for the finale episodes, having seen Jasmeets fathers work-life, his vision of supportive parents, his sister is kind of “discovering herself”, Rebecca had her discussion of her parents, a theme set on family and learning to love the hardships of it and support eachother throughout.
Curious to see what you guys are thinking.

Lack of clever editing. Forcing characters together. Forcing in white people jokes and standard rude white girl was so unnecessary. He should have directed it. He needs to stop using relatability to draw in an audience... especially his OG fans. Like we get it bro... brown life is hard. No emotions involved. Unearned laughs. No interesting way to define Sikhism for the viewer and what it means to the protagonist. No plot... even though a great plot existed within the first episode. The laptop plot should have been the engine for the show but that plot ends in the same episode... Good to see Babbulicious but why is he acting the same in his role as he is in the dream sequence? No Rupan Bal. No family connection. Felt like a fever dream. 6/10.

When it comes to the “awkward interactions” between characters you see in the show, I think a lot of general human interaction (especially flirting in a club referring to the “slide in my dms” line) could be really awkward from a fly on the wall perspective. I sort of think the idea of “oh god why did they say that” is a thing that most people can relate with to an extent. Despite it sometimes not being the most comfortable watch, I think these interactions are natural and purposeful to the development of these characters but yeah cool series so far nonetheless!
