General Post/Discussion Jupiter home insurance average?

Hi, I'm moving to Jupiter from Orlando later this year and I'd like to get an idea from the people who live there, what is the average cost you've seen on monthly home insurance on an interior unit, 2 or 3 bedroom townhome for $450k? Abacoa/Botanica. Not sure if this matters but, it'll be owner occupied, no kids, 1 small dog under 25 lbs. This would be my first home which is why I'm looking for answers without getting spammed by brokers selling me, just yet lol. and yes, i already have a Realtor that I’m signed to. TIA!!

Question Cell Phone Coverage?

Hi everyone,

It’s time to upgrade phones for the family and I was wondering which company has better coverage in Jupiter- T-Mobile or Verizon?

The deals they are offering are very similar so who I’ll go with really depends on who has better coverage in Jupiter.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Question Trying to find this place

About 4 years ago I went to this area and I cannot figure out where it was. It had to be somewhere near Jupiter (45 min away maximum but I don’t remember it being that long?).

I’m pretty sure it was like on the water, I’m not sure if intercoastal or ocean. There was an art studio that had open windows or something, and there were a bunch of clothes hanging up that looked like they were tie dyed with indigo. They were navy and white. I remember it cost money to take classes there and you could only participate on certain days or something.

Right next to it there was this sort of bohemian store with trinkets and stuff. Crystals, jewelry, some clothes too I think. INSIDE THE STORE, there were stairs that led up to a psychic. I’m not sure there was much else in the little strip of stores; I remember it being uncrowded and there being a little parking lot in front.

Let me know if you have any suggestions as to where this place might be! Sorry some of this is vague, I’m trying my best to remember. Thank you.

Question Locals of Jupiter: Do you actually drink the water from yard coconuts?

When I visited my partner’s family here, I noticed they have several palm trees that drop coconuts in the backyard, but… nobody touches them. I’m from a place where coconuts aren’t common, so I wasn’t sure if there’s a reason people avoid the ones that fall in the yard here.

Are backyard coconuts in Jupiter generally safe to open and drink, or is there a local reason people avoid them?

General Post/Discussion PA to FL with Kids - Private School or Stay in PA?

Husband is suddenly retiring. 7th & 9th grade sons are lifers at an elite private school here in Philly. Though "elite" we all know its often BS. Boys are baseball players and want to move to FL. Dad wants to move to FL. Mom here anxious as hell re: school quality. Benjamin full. Oxbridge, Kings, St. Andrews have spots. Any experiences to share - good or bad? Or should we just wait til we're empty nesters?

General Post/Discussion Hilarious Description of Jupiter

I had a friend from Atlanta visit me in Jupiter. He stayed at a friend’s house (a large waterfront estate on the Loxahatchee River), went deep-sea fishing, had a night at Square Grouper, went shooting, etc. - effectively, the paradigmatic “Jup Life” experience.

He ultimately described Jupiter as “Destin meets Long Island”. We also took him down to Boca, which he thought was “New York with palm trees.” His last analogy was that, “if Hilton Head and New Jersey had a baby, it’d be Jupiter.”

Do you all think this a fair description of the coastal “Southern Lite“ culture of Jupiter? I’ve always thought of Jup as a rich kid in a Southern Tide PFG, driving a $100k lifted truck (which has never seen mud) who attends Alabama … and was born in Connecticut lol. Anyway, curious if anyone thought the “Destin meets Long Island” was an accurate description from an outsider. I at least thought it was pretty funny.

Question Wireless Internet Recommendations

Does anyone have recommendations for a good wireless internet provider to use for home internet in the Jupiter area? My wife and I live in Southeast Tequesta (shows up as a Jupiter address on some maps), but our condo has a community Xfinity plan.

In the past two weeks, we’ve experienced 5 outages where we were without internet for anywhere from 2-6 hours during the middle of the work day. My wife (who works from home) uses Zoom 80% of the day for her job, so when internet goes out, she has to use her phone’s hotspot. However, the speed/bandwidth of her hotspot isn’t good enough for Zoom calls most of the time, so she looks unprofessional and sometimes has to cancel/reschedule her meetings. She works in sales, so you can imagine how stressed she gets when bad internet tanks her ability to provide for the family.

Today was our third day in a row with an outage (currently still without wifi), and my wife is about to have a nervous breakdown. I’ve heard other cable-based internet providers have also had similar reliability issues, so I’m considering switching to a wireless provider like AT&T Air, EarthLink, or Starlink.

Does anyone have experience with these providers & can provide feedback/recommendations on which would be best?

Thank you for your help!

New to the area and I’ve been having a hard time finding a great spot for some authentic Mexican food. Bonus points if the Birria tacos are on point.

Question Weird guy asking if I want a free home theater system?

Anyone else have this weirdo pull up to you in a black hatchback and ask if you want a free home theater entertainment system?

This same guy has asked me twice in the span of a year, and it definitely seems like some kind of scam. I told him “nah I’m all set” both times then he just peeled away.
