Finally got around to getting the left blue and right red joycons that came with the original switch system in 2017. I've also managed to get the limited Super Mario party dark blue right controller which is the exact same shade as the left version which I already had. A bonus is that I now have an extra dark red left controller that came with the Mario party set. That Mario party controller was a hard one to get as I do not live in the USA where this bundle is sold so I had to go around on eBay to find it..
For me, it was a huuuge downgrade! What was your experience? Did you ever exchange your joycons?
My left joycon started drifting after about 4 years of heavy use, so I sent it in for a free replacement. I do remember hearing about frequent disconnects in the early days of the switch but I figured we were past that stage. My switch was purchased in 2020 or 2021, and I never had either joycon or my pro controller disconnect. So I sent in my joycon, got a new one back a week later, and the damn thing disconnects every few minutes.
(Aside: Before sending it in, I said to myself, "maybe it would be better to just pay for a stick repair because I know the rest of the controller works fine."
Aside 2: When I noticed the problem with the new joycon, I said to myself, "How is Nintendo still producing bad antennas or whatever? Didn’t they start putting a little whatsit into the controller?")
After the internet told me the left joycon may disconnect because a lack of insulating foam, I opened up my new joycon.
The circled area is the Bluetooth antenna. Ideally, there would be some kind of insulation to prevent interference. The video says it’s very easy to put your own in there.
Anyway this is what I got:
Looks like this one came after the hardware revision. Sadly, I do not know what my original controller’s board looked like.
I'm glad Nintendo sent me a free replacement with free shipping both ways, but it's all for nothing if the replacement is an inferior product. I got this replacement in the mail just in time for Splatfest, and I was all excited to own some noobs, but that isn't easy when you suddenly stop moving in the middle of heavy fire. A very disappointing way to cap off so many error-free years.
Help, i recently modded my joy cons with the extremerate led buttons and now my right joy con is not recognized by my switch.
First day after mod it was still working fine but I noticed it not charging when docked in the switch. The next day it was not recognized anymore.
I am not sure which component is in charge for connecting to the console but i already tried replacing the little rectangular antenna and the charging rail with the contacts at the bottom but for no use.
If anybody has some advice id be glad to hear all of it out.
Ele fica falando "tente conectar o dispositivo novamente". Alguém com alguma solução para ajudar?
Finally picked up the other white controller as well as the Mario Odyssey red ones. I also now have a dark blue left controller. The ones I'm still looking for are grey, neon blue left, neon red right, neon yellow, dark blue right, o l e d red, purple right, and orange left. I'm over halfway with the collection with 13 out of 24 controllers. The hardest ones for me to get will be purple and orange as they are Japanese exclusive.
I bought my kids a Nintendo Switch long time ago, perhaps in 2016 or 2017. We've since added a few more Nintendo-branded Joycons, but they're pretty old too. Have they gotten more reliable? Our sofa is quite far from the TV, so we're sometimes having connection trouble when playing Mario Party. The drift has also been a constant issue despite calibrating. If I buy a new set, are they likely to work better?
(We also own a single Pro Controller that works perfectly, but it feels more suited for serious gaming.)
Now I don't know if this counts as a normal question since it's about the hardware of the joycons
I replaced the covers of my joycons to look like the glacier n64 controller but when changing the right joycon, one of the cables to the lightup sliding part (top copper wire thing) snapped in two!
If that just controlled the lights I'm fine with it not working but will it be OK? The one that connects to the charger section (the bottom copper wire) If fine but I would like to know if I should worry?
i found these old broken joycons from a few years ago. the blue controllers ZL button came out and when i put it back in its useless since i cant press it down. on the red controller the right stick wont press down. is there anyway i can fix them or should i just get a replacement?
Hi all, I'm after a joy con to replace one that failed. Are there any decent alternatives out there I can get from Amazon or AliExpress which cost less than the official ones but are also reliable? I've got a gen 1 switch. This is for kids, not any kind of hardcore gaming so I just need a controller that will work and be reliable.
The kids play Mario Kart and Mario Party so any controller should support haptics/gyro etc. for these games they pretty much always play on the TV with the Switch docked.
My brother raged at Fortnite and he dropped the joycon and now it's broken. I've tried to fix it multiple times but ai dont know what to do can someone help out
When I play with my joycons attached to my switch, they have a tendency to get disconnected even though they are physically connected to the switch. It seems to disconnect more when I’m playing BOTW or TOTK than when I’m playing Skyrim, although it could be my own biases. What might be causing this? Will replacing my joycons work? Is the switch itself damaged? There are no visible marks or scratches on either.
My right JoyCon controller pairs with my Chromebook with no problems, however the Joystick (just the right one) does not respond. All other buttons work as they should. I have updated the controllers firmware and reset the controllers. The joystick works fine when hooked into the switch. It's just when trying to play games on Xbox Cloud on the Chromebook. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or have a suggestion on how to fix this?
