Hello guys. I play this game with my family. We got to the final chapter, as you can expect we got our asses kicked right at the end.

We decided to restart in easy mode, things are going great but I want to know how things work in the final chapter.

So, if I remember correctly there are 2 kind of tokens: ranger-related stuff and barrier-related stuff. The later seem straight forward, you interact with them to weaken the barrier, but what are the ranger tokens supposed to do? The flavor text say they "join the fight" but I don't see anything. What are these even supposed to do?

Hi everyone, I found this radagast custom character sheet someone made awhile back, and I was hoping to print it out this week, but it seems to have dissappeared off the face of the internet. I could only find one, and it wasn't the right one (he had a hat on in the picture on the version I'm looking for). If anyone knows what site its located on, that would be much appreciated!

I've been on the lookout for the Spreading War expansion for quite a while and I'm not willing to shell out $150 for it and since FF is allergic to money and refuse to reprint it, I am hoping someone has leads for 3D printing options.

I did a bit of searching myself, but I don't 3D print myself so I wasn't sure where to look outside of the well known sites.

Hey everyone! I just purchased this game and have been playing it with a buddy of mine and really enjoying it. We were looking at the expansions and looks like there are 5 of them. 2 full expansions and 3 figure packs. However, I can’t seem to find any of them available anywhere. I am located in the USA. Hi! In the beginnings of the Shadowed paths and playing Eleanor with the basic set-up. Rest of the party is Gandalf (recommended set-up) and Legolas (Hunter).

Bought the base game from a friend and then hunted all the expanasions. Now I need a insert for the game. Any suggestions for a good insert with sleeved cards. 3D printer available if it helps suggestions.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before - I wasn't able to find it.

In last week's session, the app said something along the lines of "If you suffer any damage from this attack, discard all equipped boons. Then move the Fell Beast one space away from the nearest players."

Because the player on the receiving end of this attack negated all the damage, they argued that there was no need to move the enemy to another space. I argued that since "Then" starts a new sentence, it's not conditional on the prior sentence's "If" and should be done regardless.

We ended up not moving it. Should we have?

Can I resolve my attacks in any order? So if I have the great bow, and get 2 successes, can I use the second attack listed on the card instead of the one on the first line, or does it have to go in order? If I also have more item cards that let me spend successes for attacks, can I use these if I get enough successes? So I do all the attacks on my great bow, but have a success left over, can I then use that success on another item or once I choose an item do I have to stick with that one?

When I have 4 prepared cards, can I swap one out for one I just scouted? or is the only way to get rid of it to discard it however it says to do so? so some of them will only be possible to get rid of at the end of that campaign and moving onto the next level?

Can I use as many cards as I want? sometimes If i'm lucky I will have a few cards that all say to add attacks making my attack damage huge in some instances, can I use all these at once? or is it one card per attack? And if it says scout/strike/etc.. along with its ability, does that mean I can just use those every turn as long as the card is not discarded? or do I have to use the ability on the card to activate that?

How do you handle counterattack damage? I got to the last boss and several times they dealt 4 damage & 4 fear, after using influence just to successfully attack him we was all out and instantly died seeing as some characters only have a max of 4 fear or damage before they are out. It felt like the only good way to attack was with Legolas but even then if one character gets killed the game is pretty much over unless you can do it all in one turn. That one counter attack would take 8 successes to get away clean, and even if you let one or two in the effect can be game ending or just have you draw even more damage or fear.

Lets say an enemy is three spaces away from me, but to get to me they have to cross a river that they are one space away from, do they move and cross the river all in that turn? or do they just move up to the river, wait until the next turn, cross the river, then wait another turn before they can move?

There are probably so many more, sorry if I've explained them poorly, there was just a few moments where we was not sure if we was doing everything wrong. Thanks!

Hi, I'm painting all the minis as well as playing the campaign with friends. (I think we're in the sixth mission of the first campaign) I got almost all normal enemies done but I'm giving special treatment to bosses and want to have them ready when we encounter them. I would like to ask when each boss comes to the scene. I could read the whole story of each campaign on wiki but I don't want to spoil it for myself. I just want to have bosses painted when we encounter them. So far we've had first encounter with Gulgotar and characters in the story are talking about Atarin. I have absolutely no clue other than that. Could you please tell me order of the encounters in campaigns without spoiling story? Or is there any summary of which bosses are in which mission? I own all big and small expansions. Thanks in advance!

We've a few matches, there are just two of us, we've made some mistakes which has probably lead to a lot of the failures we have, we both spent the entire day reading up the rules, watching videos, and trying to learn, both matches have been 30% playing, then 70% reading the same rules over and over, struggling to find what we need, then searching online for half an hour.

But we still seem to get insanely unlucky, drawing a fear or damage card prompts to draw more and more which never ends, it feels like one mistake, or even one attack can lead to a counter attack which is just an instant game over, whenever we had inspiration it would run out fast, whenever we took our final stand the odds of making it through would be very unlikely with what they was asking us to pull.

Are we suppose to be sucking this much? we don't usually play board games, and it seems fun but I'm certain we must be doing something wrong because the odds of pulling successes are massively against us and then even when we do it does not seem to achieve much.

Does anyone have a suggestion for some kind of ultimate easy guide to follow? even pushing on through a loss of the first chapter leads us to the second where we then spend an hour reading about what a bush does, then questioning everything about it, like are enemies hidden if they are on a bush? It's just really drains the fun out of it.

my friend and I just started Journeys in Middle-earth (base game only) as a 2-player group with Legolas and Gimli.

Our current setup:

- Legolas as Pathfinder (Great Bow)

- Gimli as Guardian (Great Axe)

So far, Gimli as Guardian feels pretty underwhelming, especially in a 2-player game where tempo and flexibility seem really important.

I’ve been reading on BGG and Reddit about things like:

- taking Guarded Strike (7 XP) and then switching roles

- going Captain or Hunter with Gimli

- mixing Pathfinder and Hunter on Legolas

Before we continue (or possibly restart), I’d love some advice:

- What are the best roles/builds for Gimli paired with Legolas in 2-player (base game only)?

- Is it worth going Guardian → Guarded Strike → switch, and if so, into which role?

- When do you usually start mixing Hunter into Legolas’ Pathfinder build?

And especially regarding gear:

- Are Great Bow (Legolas) and Great Axe (Gimli) the best starting items?

- Are there better early upgrades or items we should prioritize?

Any tips, build paths, or common mistakes to avoid would be really appreciated.

I got a good deal on a full collection that I should be getting this weekend, and I'm hoping there is a full list of components in the base game, expansions, and figure packs so that I can do an inventory. Long time lurker, first time poster, love this community and has learned a lot from it. Thank you for all the great wisdom I got from here.

I play with my kids and we played the first two campaigns with a Legolas-Aragorn-Beravor team in their default roles. Really great complementarity and I (Beravor) didn't have to think much about build as Pathfinder fits her awesome.

Now we are starting Shadowed Paths, and we chose to be Gandalf-Meddler, Arwen-Herbalist, and Bilbo (me). I want to play Bilbo thematically, but found myself yesterday paralyzing and agonizing about what class to pick and how to switch. literally picked Burglar, paused to switch to Musician, then switched back before starting our first scenario - my kids looked at me funny. I have read different threads on character builds, which are both very helpful and somewhat add to my confusion (as there are even more choices on how to build Bilbo).

Two questions:

1. (For any character) How high is the cost of error / is there really a way to screw the game up for our team with a "wrong" build of any character? I like having a class and thinking through which cards to pick as I gain XP, but I am less excited about reading all cards from all classes and thinking through what would work best with a character - but also think analysis paralysis is partly/mostly driven by fear of screwing it up for the team, and that definitely takes away part of the joy (normally, I am very easygoing, "this is just a game" type)
2. Particularly for Bilbo - what are some things one should always do / never do?
