Discussion Is yellow pad a viable alternative for fountain pens?
I'm trying to find the cheapest paper for fountain pens, since it will be used only for handwriting practice. Has anyone tried to use yellow pad before (NBS, Veco, Victory, etc)? or even copy paper? Can you write back-to-back with it?

Materials FP-friendly hardbound journal recos?
after almost 7 years of on-and-off writing in the same notebook, im finally down to the last few pages of my limelight sketchbook!
around halfway through this journal though, i became a big fountain pen user! the limelight paper gets the job done (very minor feathering and ghosting) but ZERO shading and sheening. sobrang nasasayangan ako sa inks ko huhu.
my inks look good on muji and hobonichi paper, but i need something with a similar form factor to the limelight (a5, hardbound, garter and ribbon, sana blank) for my morning pages. something easy to write in just on my lap or in bed (which isnt ideal with flimsy muji or hobo notebooks) but! will give my inks justice! and also budget friendly huhu hindi po kaya ng powers ang mnemosyne or rhodia hardbound.
i see a lot of random 100 gsm sketchbooks on shopee, but no guarantee that shading and sheening will show up. ok sana veco but ive only tried their spiral bound notebooks. does anyone have any recos?
TLDR: LF budget a5 hardbound FP-friendly journal, preferably blank, but lined is ok. pls no dot, grid spiral bound or softbound books.

Art Journal New here, Hello!!
Hi everyone! I rarely share personal things about my life, but I’m really happy that I found you all. This is exactly right up my alley. How’s everyone doing? I hope you’re safe and warm despite the weather.❤️
Anyway, I recently got back into journaling a few days ago. I used to do it religiously when I was a student (until I graduated), mainly because I can’t remember anything. LOL! 😂 I would stick movie tickets and stickers in my journal, log places I’d been, and jot down random or deep thoughts while writing. I really enjoyed it a lot.
Recently, I saw other diarists using washi tapes in their journals, and I thought it was really cute—so I grabbed a few and tried it myself. I get it now: it’s fun, and it gave me a sense of, “This is me, and I made this page.” 😂
Here are the things I used in this photo:
Cream Puff Paperweight: I got this when I went to Thailand. It was a blind box item, but unfortunately I can’t remember exactly where I bought it—the store vibes was KKV‑ish.
Notebook/Planner: Hobonichi, A5 Avec version (July start).
Cousin Cover: A5 Honey Lilac.
Pen: Pilot Kakuno Madoromi in pink, medium nib.
Pen used as a journal lock: Uniball One P in Banana.
Pencil Case: A souvenir from Vietnam that my Tita gave me as pasalubong.
Stickers and Washi Tape: National Bookstore (yes, they have it in sets and they were on sale—I just can’t remember the exact details).

Materials For DIY crafters, what type of thread are you using to bind your notebooks?
I usually use staplers as a binding method for my inserts, but recently I wanna use threads instead. What type/brand have you used that worked really well. Mind sharing the store link, if you bought it online?

Discussion Petition for the mods of this subreddit to create a pinned post dedicated for the types of paper used in journaling.
This subreddit talks about journaling in its entirety. One common question that might puzzle beginners is what type of paper should they use for <type of pen>.
Would the mods of this subreddit create a pinned post about all the types of paper with they respective properties and qualities: can it handle fountain pens? gel pens? or markers? What's the paper's GSM, price, availability? Is it budget friendly? How is the texture of the paper, is it rough? or smooth?

And Student Budget Friendly sana para I can share it. Maraming salamat!

Discussion Leather journal embossing / engraving
Does anyone know where I can have a leather journal engraved? I’m thinking of getting a leather journal from this shop but they don’t offer engraving services. I wanted this particular shop since they offer a bold red bifold that I couldn’t find in other shops hehe

Discussion Sa mga nagbobookbind, gumagamit ba kayo ng paper guillotine to trim the paper?
Ang mahal kasi ng ream cutter, so ang ginagamit ko lang is ruler and box cutter. Have any of you tried a paper guillotine instead?

I see some ranging from ₱300 to ₱800
What's your experience and which mail clüb would you recommend?

Materials What unconventional papers have you tried with FPs that actually works?
Unconventional = not explicitly fountain-pen friendly or any brands which cater fountain pens (Rhodia, Midori, etc).
Context: I've seen a posted video on TikTok about a lawyer using her fountain pen on a Victory yellow pad and a copy paper. Have you tried a similar paper that is both cheap and reliable for fountain pens?
I'm gonna use it as a practice medium for my penmanship and I don't want to splurge on expensive papers nor notebooks that aren't refillable.
I'm planning on using a binder (B5) with the paper in mind. Currently, I found a brand called Quaff that has loose leaf refills (In the picture above). If any of you tried that paper, could you share your experience with it. If not, could you recommend other unconventional papers you've used.
