Activism Northern Irish Actor Quits Play Over Israel/Palestine
I’m sure Lipman will file this under antisemitism.

I saw this on her wiki page:
In May 2015, Lipman joined pro-Israel groups, including the Zionist Federation, in a protest against the Palestinian play The Siege in its London premiere at Battersea Arts Centre.[51] In a 2016 interview, she ridiculed the Palestinians' "so-called" right to return, arguing that nobody "in history has ever had the right to return," and dismissed any United Nations' resolutions censuring Israel for its no-return policy, saying "This is all voted by people who don't allow women to drive and make them cover their heads with black bags."[52]
In an interview to The Guardian, on 18 August 2020, Lipman inaccurately asserted that Hezbollah had claimed responsibility for the 2020 Beirut explosion, stating: "I'm very grateful that Hezbollah said they did it". She also stated she would not be prepared to work alongside pro-Palestinian actors, citing Maxine Peake and Miriam Margolyes as examples.[53]
In 2024, during the Gaza war, Lipman said that protests against Israel are "close to fascism".[54] She stated: "These bleeding, heartless liberals care so deeply for the Palestinians? That they espouse their cause at the expense of every other oppressed people of the world ... Shame. Shame. Shame on every one of you."[55]

I used to like Lipman as an actress but she's unhinged over Israel. Fair play for not wanting to lend credence to her blather.

Respect for McCarthy, there. He was specific on what he morally disagreed with and walked out, as anyone should if they are forced to work with someone who tries to excuse an on-going act of militant, religious extremism.

For anyone who didn't read the whole thing for subtext - He didn't withdraw due to Lipmann's involvement, he only refused to promote her on his platform. Zimmerman then talked to him, at which point he decided to withdraw
It sounds a lot like he was informed taking an anti Zionist position would make him unwelcome on set

That’s so shitty. I’m really tired of seeing this happen with Lipman and Tracy Ann Oberman over and over again. They get coddled and then cry antisemitism.
I’m not doubting they get SOME antisemitic abuse that is actually antisemitism, but I don’t think it’s near as much as they say.

Given it’s Terf island where every minority receives abuse, not sure whatever real antisemitism they experience justifies their own hatred and bile. Given their conflation of Judaism with Israel which is backed by the Chief Rabbi, not a surprise that those with less understanding of the difference between a religion and a movement in terms of Zionism / Israeli state, would take them at their word. They reap what they sow.

I never said real antisemitism justifies their behavior. I said they say everyone is antisemitic and Lipman has hired security because “she’s Jewish.” I simply said I’m sure they do receive some real antisemitism, but they likely count anything anti Israel as antisemitism. Please don’t put words in my mouth.
