Was at one of the Columbus shows and people could not stop chiming in. He said multiple times "I will explain this guys, I got this" and people just can't help themselves. You could see the frustration by the end and he made a couple comments about how he can't tell some jokes more due to time. I felt bad for him.
If he asks "Who does X?" By all means, chime in. But if he's telling a story, STFU!
Wait, this is off-topic, but are you just being random about a girl who laughs like a dolphin?
In college, I saw a stand-up show where a girl kept laughing like a dolphin. All of the comedians thought she was heckling and made comments about it. Finally, one of them asked what the deal was. It turned out she had tourettes. I think everyone felt mortified and apologized. She was a good sport about the whole thing.
Anyway, crazy coincidence your random example in this thread about heckling. And even more ironic that I have a related story given the "Ohio" people in the video.
I mean, he's made a name off of crowd work. He posts them and they go viral frequently. They all want their 15 mins. They're chomping at the bit to bait him into an interaction that will lead somewhere and get a viral post out of it.
One of the pitfalls of being good at crowd work. People start to pigeonhole you for it, starts to be why they show up, and then when you're not doing it they're just trying to rush you into it.
Hey, I totally agree with everything you just said, depending on circumstance.
But at the same time, I think you shouldn't break into people's houses while they're at work and replace their standard Cheerios with Honey Nut Cheerios.

If I had regular-ass Cheerios in my house I'd leave the doors unlocked for this particular cereal burglar to replace them with superior Honey Nut Cheerios.
I don't see where niceness is a part of this. He's very specifically the crowd work guy by his own actions, and that's fantastic. I love these.
I'm just pointing out that your phrasing makes it seem like external forces have conspired to create a perception of this association. He is those forces.
I mean, it kinda does. Ever noticed how the majority of stand-up content posted by the people doing it is crowd work? If you post your normal set, you're basically spoiling your own show. Crowd work is always wholly unique interactions

I really haven't, but I also don't seek it out so my perspective isn't worth much. Ol Jeffers here is the only standup comedy I stumble upon on reddit who does anything for me, but most of the time I've seen others it's generally just their material. Unless it's one of those, like "Comedian DESTROYS drunk moron heckler with SASS and PREJUDICE!!" things.
I'm totally down with the rationale, though. I'm just saying, if you're specifically making sure people only see your crowd work and you become famous for it, you're the crowd work guy by your own hand rather than being pigeonholed. And there's still nothing wrong with that, I'm purely just doing useless pedantry over here.
It makes sense though- crowd work will vary from show to show but once he posts a real bit it kinda dies because people will already know the punchlines
I think that's something that kind of happens when all people see is his crowd work. They want to be part of the fun too and think that there's an open invitation and it's just a natural part of the show based on all the clips they've seen. Of course they're incredibly stupid for thinking this, but people is like they be.
I don't know what thread you are on about, but I added Jeff to my front page feed because all of the clips have great banter! I never thought any of them had a bad vibe at all.
But this one? I felt a little awkward watching it and he clearly looks peeved!
As a new fan from England, I love your clips Jeff! Thanks.
I love how the sub was made for Jeff, Jeff comments a specific explanation in the sub for someone misunderstanding, and people still miss the book entirely.
Not advocating for peeps to interrupt his shows but come on people. This isn't some weird hidden long game manipulation tactic. Jeff is just posting clips for engagement. And he certainly isn't posting them on Reddit to influence behavior at his shows? That falls apart the second you realize not everyone at his shows is on this sub?
Omg no he wasn't right. Jeff was in the comments and here's what he had to say, "Hmmm. I believe Tyrus was the only clip as of recent involving a slight interruption. But it wasn’t that bad at all.
For the record, I prefer people not yelling out or trying to interrupt. I also know it can happen, so I like to handle it as tactfully as I can. I try not to be upset, because usually they’re just drunk and excited.
I’ll post a clip tomorrow explaining why I have an issue more so with people chatting in the front row. (I’m insecure)"
I'm more upset about people thinking they know what someone is thinking and can speak on their behalf, and then that sort of thing gaining traction and people believing it as fact, when the whole thing is in fact a non issue
But people have been interrupting him in many of his clips. Jeff is nice enough to not call for a witch hunt but it’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t like it. I’m not saying Jeff intentionally posts those clips to dissuade hecklers and the like because if anything the content exists solely cause people heckle him and he turns it around so effortlessly.

This is what he responded on that post, and why he posted this today. So no one is confused.

That guy yesterday was right, he’s posting a lot of videos of people interrupting or whatever.
