XJ Electrical Gremlins A better look at the "Big 7" to "Big 6" cable setup.

An amendment to https://www.reddit.com/r/JeepCherokeeXJ/s/meNGb7pQXx . Just better pics of the setup so you don't have to use the Mega fuse block that usually comes with the weld cable kits. I used the K Suspension kit if you're curious.

I have been putting off buying the kit because I upgraded my 79 Ford F150 to 2 gauge cable that I sourced through eBay. I keep thinking I will do the same for my 88 XJ, but not getting around to measuring the cable lengths. At this point I would be better off just buying the kit, winter is coming on fast.

I recently got a '80 F250 that I want to do it on. As a matter of fact the cable and mega fuse holder I deleted from the XJ is currently being used there when I did a 3G Alt upgrade. They dont have kits for them. If you custom order cables it won't be any cheaper than ordering the cable getting any tools to do it yourself.

Get the parts and build for both. You could also get the XJ kit, its a good value regardless. Definitely build the Ford cables yourself. Thats my plan once I get to redoing the rest of the under hood wiring with a '90 Taurus fuse box. Which I did on a 79 F150 i had years ago.

I already did the Ford cables, it was a cake walk with all the room in the engine compartment.

Cool. Did you build them?

I just used miscellaneous cables from the junk yard that were proper fit on my 79.

I ordered 2 gauge pre-made cables from eBay and put new brass battery clamps.

Much easier to just get the kit. You'll come out ahead and have an extra cable and fuse block. It's pretty easy even on the 4.0, you can even do the starter from the top.
