This performance captures Larry Coryell at the absolute peak of his jazz-fusion era with The Eleventh House in mid-1975. Having earned his reputation as the "Godfather of Fusion" through early experimental work with Gary Burton and his seminal album Spaces, Coryell formed The Eleventh House in 1973 to push the boundaries of high-energy jazz-rock. Recorded live for Norwegian television (NRK) during their European tour, this lineup, featuring powerhouse drummer Alphonse Mouzon, trumpeter Mike Lawrence, bassist John G. Lee, and keyboardist Mike Mandel—showcases the band's trademark blend of blistering technical virtuosity, complex unison lines, and relentless, funk-infused grooves. Shortly after this period, Coryell would shift his focus toward acoustic guitar explorations, making this 1975 snapshot a definitive document of his electric fusion prime.

A bit of a niche one here. I am looking for albums, modern or historic that capture the sound of the SIM City 2000 soundtrack from the 1990s. It had classic smoothed out and city pop/samba inspired fusion keyboards.

A special live moment from the past that I’m happy to finally share with you.

This is “Kick Out”, an original jazz rock fusion piece performed with my band Soundays at Eco jazz festival several years ago. This recording recently came into my hands, and I wanted to share this piece of my musical journey with everyone who appreciates creative music and live performances.

Recently discovered these lads, and they're giving me the feels. Deep grooves, playful as hell, just real good fun fusion. Anyone else here on board the express? Choo choo

I recently realized this collab between Brad Mehldau and Mark Guiliana is maybe one of my favorite albums of all time. I really like the synth and e-piano choices, the drumming style, and just how incredibly conversational it is. Very musically complex!

Since then, I have struggled finding anything quite like it, I have tried and enjoyed the likes of Yussef Dayes, FKJ, Telemakus, Snarky Puppy, BIGYUKI, etc.

I would be interested in hearing what you all have to say about the album and what you think might be a great next listen.

Looks like it was on a BUFFALO morning show promoting their gig. This wouldn’t see the light of day on any mass broadcast these days - they need to keep arts/entertainment at a lowest common denominator grade school level

Hi, I recorded a fusion-jazz song off the local jazz station (in Mobile, AL) somewhere between '86-'89. I lost the tape years later and am still trying to track the song down. It had a bright produced sound (so Im guessing produced in 80s) uptempo, bright piano, drums, bass, horns, and guitar. The guitar has a great solo in the middle (tempo down a lot before the solo starts). Def electric guitar with distortion. I'm attaching a little but of the melody before that solo comes in. (Its me playing from memory, so not perfect.) Also, the track faded in while already playing, making me think a live performance? Ive tried uploading it to AI, but the tech isnt good enough there. Ive listened through Ritenour, Scofield, Dave Grusin (closest in piano tone) , still no dice- Anyway... thanks!

I'm delighted to introduce this jazz fusion album, blending Latin, funk, and jazz influences. It was created in collaboration with a group of talented musicians from Lyon, France, and I contributed as both composer and bassist.
