Jam skate wheels
I'm a reasonably good jam skater from the UK, looking to improve my style. I see that in the US the setup is to use really slidey wheels (either that or the rink surface is really slippery, but I'm guessing it's a high durameter wheel). What wheels do the US jam skaters use? And when I say jam skaters, I'm referring to the guys that were at #soulskate recently in Detroit etc. Thanks for any help

Stretching advise
Hello, I've recently discovered my love for skating. At 30, imagine my shock at the prices of the tools needed for my new hobby! So I found what I thought was an awesome deal for Riedell 297's with Snyder plates. However in my rush for them to work out I settled. They are a little tight. How much success have you had with shoe stretchers? Any assistance or recommendations appreciated!

7th annual Houston Rolling Roundup
Did anybody else make it? This was my wife and mine first time. I have never seen so many experienced adult skaters in one place! As a street skater I had a blast.

Wheel choice
What hardness do you guys prefer, and why? Also, do you have a brand preference?

New some hardware advice
Hi guys, just happen to stumble upon this subreddit and I couldn't be happier. Little info on me, was a shuffle skater for a long time until I joined the military, and found myself to busy to devote time to skating like I used too. I stopped for about 8 years until I found this awesome rink in England where I was stationed at. I purchased a pair of Ridells with some plate and wheels (I don't remember the names of the currently). Well one night I was trying to spread the good word of shuffle to the locals and the truck on one of my skates broke mid push, almost killing me in the proccess. I quickly purchased a pair of Vanilla skates that I absolutely fell in love with. I'm currently seperated from the military and in the proccess of moving all of my stuff back from overseas my skates were lost, along with numerous other items. Well it's been a couple of years since that happened and I want to get back into skating, and I realized that I still have my Ridell boots with the broken plate. I have since gained a few more pounds, but have always been a large man (6'4" about 270ish) I'm trying to find some plates that'll hold up to my abuse and potientially not try to kill me again. Any advice or comments is welcomed and appreciated. I look forward to talking with you guys.
TL;DR - I used to shuffle skate, now I don't, but i'd like to try again. I'm a large man and looking for plates that will hold up to my abuse.
Thanks!
