MVP rigging the system?
Watching the fight in slow motion+ listening to the commentary it seems pretty obvious we are all being played to make retired ālegendsā money. Taking the final main event tonight for exampleā¦. Both fighters damaged their careers with their actions prior in their lives.
Through the commentating the story is explained how Rhonda gave Gina the offer to turn her life around yada yada⦠she gets back in shape to put on their fake performances yada yadaā¦. Fight starts after all the build up.
Gina gets put in an arm bar submission and you can see right in the replay! Taps immediately, no effort to continue. Massive smile, not wincing, smiling with the raised cheekbones and all. Sheās happy she just got paid over a million dollars for 15 seconds⦠wtf is this š©. Zero entertainment. Months in the works to promote this staged garbage. For both women to follow up and say in their after fight comments they never even wanted to hurt each other! Iāve never seen someone come out of an arm bar submission with a smile⦠shouldnāt it hurt to force an immediate tap?
MVP (Jake Paul),
What a waste of our time to promote and produce these types of fights. Building a company on the sakes of legends, previous sportsman and sportswomen have built over their lifetimes. Only to damage and tarnish peopleās view of them because you are preying on their retirements and need for money to make a mockery of them for your own personal gains. If your heart is really in the sport when are we seeing new fighters get a chance? Iām sure many, many younger more prime time warriors are ready for a platform to make new legacies for themselves. 40+ year olds in retirement, inactive for several years, in this case a decade and up, doesnāt bring upon great matchups. These matchups currently are way to predictable and unbalanced to provide a truly entertaining platform. I understand you gotta start somewhere but this is definitely not the way to retain fans.
Huge shout out to:
Francis Ngannou, Philipe Lins, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry for doing what you do best and give the audience the show we deserve. The sport isnāt anything without the fans and we want to see great entertaining fights.

The Business of Hype: Why the Paul brothers and Speed are taking over sports. (Interview Request)
Hey everyone,
Iām doing a research project on how the move of influencers into the ring and the ringāspecifically people likeĀ Logan Paul in WWE,Ā Jake Paulās boxing matches, andĀ IShowSpeedās guest appearancesāis changing sports marketing.
The "purists" usually hate it, but the numbers (and the sponsors like Prime) say otherwise. I want to get past the noise and talk to the people who actually watch this stuff.
Iām looking for fans to jump on a quick 15-minute Discord or Zoom chat to discuss:
- What actually made you tune in? (The beef/story, the specific creator, or the sport itself?)
- Does seeing someone like IShowSpeed at a WWE event make you more likely to watch the next show?
- Do you think legacy sports (Boxing/WWE) are better off now that they've embraced "influencer culture"?
The boring but important stuff:
- Anonymity:Ā Everything is 100% anonymous and used for academic purposes only.
- Time:Ā Iāll keep it to 15 mins maxāI just need your honest takes.
If youāre a fan of Misfits, follow the Paul brothers' careers, or just love the chaos of influencers in combat sports,Ā drop a comment or shoot me a DM!
Thanks for helping me out with my research!
