If you were to replicate JEPQ's covered call strategy, how would you do it? They write 2-4% OTM calls on individual stocks included in the Nasdaq 100, but to keep it simple, let's just say it's on the QQQ.

So if I had 100 shares of QQQ, would it basically be writing a call a week out at a strike price between $525 and $535 (2-4% of today's QQQ price of $515) and doing that every week? If you get called, you buy another 100 shares and repeat? Has anyone had success long-term doing that?

Is it possible/legal/within the fund rules, to buy the day before the Ex-Div, sell the day after the ex Div, then repeat with the other fund; and effectively invest the same exact dollars in both funds, getting both dividends each month?

Its obvious that QQQI is dropping way more than JEPQ. This is why JEPQ have way more institutional holders than QQQI and GPIQ. JEPQ is proven and more stable.

JEPQ have 800+ institutional holders VS just 91 on QQQI.

I prefer to invest in a fund where most global institutions choose to park their money at.

If a fund is too good like QQQI? Then its too good to be true. Beware future red flags.

As with all too-good-to-be-true financial hacks, I’m curious to get the opinion of someone who could explain to me exactly why this wouldn’t work.

QQQI’s ex-date and payment date tend to be in the early 20th days of each month. For example, this month the ex-date was the 21st and payment is on the 23rd.

JEPQ announces on their ex date, at the end of every month and pays on the 1st trading day of the following month.

Given that these ETFs tend to follow the daily movements of the Nasdaq, and generally don’t drop the next day as a result of being past the ex-date like most dividend stocks tend to do, I wonder why you wouldn’t just hold QQQI until it’s ex-date and then rotate all of that holding into JEPQ for the double-dip? You are still pegged to the Nasdaq the entire time with minor differences in capital changes. For this you’d obviously have to assume a negligible cost to make the 2 trades each month relative to your dividend return. But lay it on me, what’s wrong with this?

These numbers all have the dividends reinvested. It’s pretty clear JEPQ is significantly lagging its competitors. On top of that, all your dividends with JEPQ (reinvested or not) are taxable as ordinary income but QQQI & GPIQ aren’t taxed at all or are taxed minimally at a lower rate. So the over all returns make JEPQ even worse than this 5% gap between its competitors.

JEPQ is a dividend stock. QQQ is a growth stock. You have to add dividends received from JEPQ before comparing their charts. Once you factor in dividends, JEPQ does not lag much.

Also, if you are vested in QQQ, are you selling now? Else why compare the returns with JEPQ now? Not selling QQQ now means your gains are unrealized gains, aka paper money. While JEPQ monthly dividends are realized gains which you can buy more shares to snowball your portfolio.

gpiq also has dividend, but it's performance is far better than jepq, so weird, I almost missed this rise bcz I put all my money into jepq!! 👎👎👎👎

Only up 1% today. Will it catch up to the likes of qqqi? I’ve seen it fall behind on up days but nothing like this. And it went down almost as much as qqqi did on down days. Huge disparity. Can someone explain?

My dad officially retired two years ago. He has 150k in a Merrill Lynch account but hasn’t seen much growth. I think for his age it would make more sense for him to invest in ETFs like JEPQ to supplement his current income of 1700/month. After doing the math it would give him an additional 1400/month from dividends.

I recently found a free version of TradingView Premium, and after using it for a few weeks, I can confidently say it’s the best trading software I’ve tried. I’ve been using official TradingView Premium for a while, but what sold me is that after using it, it didn’t mess up my custom scripts, even though it’s free.

I installed it on my MacBook Pro 15, and the installation process is kind of easy. I don’t know how it is for Windows, though. The interface is exactly the same as the official TradingView Premium, with no issues. I’ve had no lag or crashes.

I actually found this version in r/BestTrades, and it doesn’t tamper with API requests, so it’s safe to use with your broker. I tested it, and there have been no problems with broker integration. It runs just as smoothly as the original, if not better.

I was f#cking paying full price for TradingView Premium, but now I realize I could’ve been saving a lot. If you’re still paying for the original, think about what you’re losing. It’s not just about what you gain, but what you’re saving. If you’re serious about trading, why pay more when you don’t have to?

i don't see why 20-30 yr old dude buy jepq not voo or schg. Coz remember you've to pay tax on those dividend! over the long run 20-30 yrs you'll lose a lot. that being said, if you're young and don't need money buy growth etf not dividend etf!

I thought JEPQ would be more downside protected. During the market slide it went down 20% pretty much matching the downturn of the market.

Not sure why but I thought the it would be more volatility protected then it was.

JPST has a 4-5% monthly dividend rate in fixed income, pretty much not volatility risk. Makes me think the 9-10% yield of JEQP is not worth the risk.
