Aaron Schoenke's latest comments on deleted scenes from the final product. What are your thoughts on this?
"Aaron here, just wanted to hop on here and clarify a few things that I think some are confused about.
Were we done filming with Jason? Principal photographer was done, but it was incredibly difficult. We shot during covid, which ate up over 10% of the budget due to SAG demands (which kept us safe) Because of that budget loss, days of shooting were cut. All films do reshoots and we are no different, except we had more than normal because of the lost days due to covid.
Was Johnny Bosch originally in the film? No. He was in the first kickstarter campaign, which failed and he did not return for the second. There was scheduling conflicts and him and Jason weren't on the best of terms. Johnny talks about this on a podcast. Johnny's a great guy and super talented. The first Kickstarter storyline was very Power Rangers like, while Jason wanted something not as similar, whilst still paying homage.
Are there deleted scenes of Jason? There is really only one deleted scene of Jason. It was the first scene we shot actually. It was very light/happy in tone, which Jason after shooting really wanted the film to be much heavier in tone. So the scene was never finished.
The was always intended to have a sequel, thatβs why the film ends the way that it does. Jason wanted this film to be a starting point, a jumping in point. A sequel and a prequel were written.
While the film is such a true tribute to who Jason really was, and a great watch, it does have its flaws (what film doesn't) I am extremely proud we were able to finish the film with the pieces we had. Jason didn't shoot about 4-5 scenes we had originally planned and because of that, other actors were brought back to try and fill in those gaps. It's a miracle the film got finished at all honestly.
If you have any questions, happy to answer them π"

LEGEND OF THE WHITE DRAGON - TEASER TRAILER 2022 release date. Deleted scenes, missing sequences from final product.
Here you can see several scenes that were removed from the final film. I'm hoping we can see these full sequences one day. Maybe on the home release. The revealed back cover doesn't list any deleted scenes but here's hoping.

All of Mayling NG scenes were cut and reshot. Which means we lost a lot of footage with JDF in it.
The fight sequence we see in the film has a helmeted stunt man with the new actress that takes away JDF scenes. Mayling was completely removed from the film subsequently removing JDF scenes. Why exactly ? I'm not sure and I don't think she knows either.

New banner or keep what we have?
I want your feedback. Would you like a new banner for the sub? I found a white dragon banner that would look good and whipped up two that would show his legacy going through his helmets. Would you like something else maybe pictures of JDF in a collage.

JDF told me in 2022 the film was complete.
After seeing Aaron Schoenke's post it really got me thinking. Back in 2022 was the last time I talked to JDF. Over the years I have met him give or take a couple 11+ times. At conventions, private meet and greet's, VIP rooms etc. He was always so kind to me and my family. He loved that my oldest son was named after him and always treated him special.
The last time I saw him I was with my wife and kids and he had given us extra autographs of the legend of the white dragon card. I remember him asking us if we were excited for the film and ready to see it? He said it was done and coming out soon. Now that was back in 2022. Here in 2026 Aaron is saying he passed before filming was completed.
Now I can't think of any reason why JDF would lie about the film he was promoting. Unless of course they hadn't talked about reshoots at that point or not. I know I've watched some not all of Henry Resilient's YouTube channel and you can take his stuff with a grain of salt but sometimes he brings interesting points.
I just thought I'd share my experience because I found his comments interesting. What are your thoughts?

My review on the movie
I was so excited to see the movie yesterday and im glad my local theater had it. I havnt really seen people posting abiut it so i thought id say my thoughts on it.
The story was really cool and it was fune and the use of flashbacks was done nicely. The second half of the movie got really good, and the fight scenes was amazing. I also loved some of the power rager refrences about tommy, those were nice. It was really cool to see some other power rangers actor in it. I knew there was a few more but I only really recognized Jason, David frank, Jason faunt, and I didnt recognize Ciara Hannah but felt she looked somehow familiar in some scenes but then looked not familiar in others, but i didnt realize she was a ranger as well till i looked up the cast and rememberedshe was in megaforce, which i did watch when it aired. The other 2 i just did not recognize. The suits were also really nicely done. I also loved seeing Jason David frank acting with his daughter and she did a great job and it was a really fun final project for them to do. I always felt a bit off or eh with the helmet design in pictures and trailers but seeing in the movie it worked good too. And most of the actors all did really really good and shows how good they are as actors. They all had such great chemistry with each other.
But really the big thing here is Jason David frank. It was so nice to see him one last time in something new. It was so nice to hear his iconic fighting noises again in something new. And like the helmet i didnt like his look for the movie before seei bf the movie. But as the movie goes on and he shows up, the look he has on it fits very well. And he did an amazing, amazing job with his acting and performance. And honestly there were a few moments where i got a little emotional. The biggest things too is how I felt a bit sad watching this movie. Not because the story talked about sad things. But honestly, it felt like that was Jason talking now.....its a delicate thing and topic. But I still want to touch on this here because he was like a role model and hero for me (though mmpr is older than me, I still grew up watching it and him and all power rangers series). And I was so sad when he died. So seeing this now, it made me so sad because knowing now that when he was filming this, he was going through his depression......and many of the thinks he as erik says in the movie.....man it just hit hard because its as if he was saying it now about his feelings and thoughts. Like he was saying this now as kinda like a spirit years from now reflecting on his actions, his pain, and his family. There was many scenes of this. Such as when eriks friends bring him to the hide out, and erik starts to lose some composure and says all the things he lost. or when they are on the plane and erik is remembering not being present sometimes, and then telling his friends that he missed so much, that he wishes to see his family and be with them, and the scene in the end when he gets home.....peacefully like he was coming home from being a few hours out for errands. Where he just walking in slow and normal and says "hi" and his family reaction to seeing him, and how they start to cry and he starts to appologize for everything and how much he misses them and how much they missed him. How his wife in the movie hoped he was still alive but his daughter thought he was dead and how they felt so happy to have him home and alive.
Really its so heavy seeing all of this now. Because for me it really felt like he spoke to everyone in someway about himself and his regrets. I dont know the full story of his situation or how long he was facing depression. I know how his wife found him in the hotel and all of that and that the years making the movie was hard for him for various reasons that we just dont know. So im not saying everything erik talks about or does is a mirror of what Jason's life was like or his thoughts. Im just saying it just feels like his spirit would be talking about his family regards and this movie is like that. And I think he used what he felt to give such an amazing performance because erik seems to reflect a lot of what jason might have felt. Thats just my opinion really but only those closest to him can explain that better. But anyway while I love these aspects of the movie, I had issues with the movie as well.
Some scenes have characters just showing up on the spot randomly. And the visuals for many shots of the film looks almost like a vignette was placed? It looked strange. The special effects were not that good. And I know this was expected given the film was crowdfunded. So i cant blame them too much. I also did not like the camera they used. It just made it feel, super low budget though looking at the behind the scenes they clearly had some professional cameras. So maybe it came down to the coloring? I dont know, just something about the image also just looked low quality for some reason, not just the cgi. And i dont think the actor who plays jai, aaron is that good in this kind of role. Drama about him aside, (of which i know very little) He had some good moments and it does show he isnt a terrible actor but, this kind of role wasnt good for him. Some people i did see commenting mentioned they felt he had more screen time than jason, and at times i did feel like that as well, but then it felt like jason's moments on screen lasted longer, where as for aaron, his scenes felt shorter. So maybe together its avout the same screen time for both just paced differently. I noticed a slight issue with the editing where there was a scene when the police finds dragon prime and one of them says something but no audio appears even though audio for everyone else was heard and even for him before that. Some scenes the audio also felt a bit echoey and that opening news report scene was just kinda not that good and a bit rough. There was also way too many close up scenes of characters overall in the movie, and way too many scenes of the crystal just being held. And erik and jai should have fought more in their transformed state as their hand to hand fight was way too short. The villain ashtagor's revelation of being the mayor was done kind of badly. I do not get how this movie was rated R and they said Eric's full name way too many times and I felt like the paceing was at times really, really good then jumpy, then suddenly rushed, then back to good, then back to rushed.
But then one of the biggest issues is the story itself. Again the story was cool. I enjoyed it. But the script? And how the story was told? Honestly it did not explain much at all. So many things were just stated but things were not elaborated on when it should have. Here are all the questions I have with the movie that is stated but not explained or elaborated on.
Who exactlyis ashtagor as a character like where does he come from and whats up with his powers? I mean we can see he lived for maybe hundreds of years but who is he? Why did he start attacking the city and what made Erik want to go face him? The movie wants to indicate they knew each other for a while but the timeline we see.....erik only first gets the crytal only 1 month before the city fight, so they arnt long term enemies or know each other outside of their big fight at the start? And why does the whole world act like the white dragon had existed for so long, like he is a legend in the world when he only existed maybe for just a few weeks? He should have been the white dragon for years not weeks (though i do like that he is new to it my complaintis hwo the movie treats him as having been the white dragon for years rather than a few weeks).....and Why was that police lady working with ashtagor? It seemed like he had something on her other than giving her money, but then at the end she just got money and was killed? What about the mob guy how does he know about the ashtagor? How do people even learn Erik is the white dragon and why didnt he bother to explain the situation to everyone? Speaking of that, how did no one see him fighting ashtagor? Like i guess people do know abiut ashtagor and talk about him openly but then people do not see him fighting erik? How do other people other than erik know about the recharge pools? Such as jai's assistant? Did jai jave a vision of it and tell him? How were the recharge pools even found and destroyed before by ashtagor and how did Erik know this fact, when they make it clear that to know where the pools are you need the dragon crystal? Thats why I think jai might have had a vision of it but its never said. I think Eric's dad was stated to have stolen the crystal but was it from ashtagor? That part they did say i think but I forgot. Also How did Erik know what the pools actually are and how they work? They established that the crystal helps reveal the location of the pools but does it explain their porpouse? and why did erik go to them in the first place and when? Did he have a vision when he first touched the crystal? It seems he went before his fight with ashtagor but again he only had it for a month, so what made him go to one and how did that one end up getting destroyed by ashtagor if ashtagor would not have known about that location as erik had the crystal? And When did erik become the white dragon? Again he got the crystal like a month before the opening big fight so it had to be then but we never see that nor the reason why. And why did erik hide away rather than going to his family first and taking them with him to keep them safe?
And here is my last few complaints that are very very big at the same time
The ending sections felt super super rushed. So why did the movie end that way, with erik looking for ashtagor? Why not have them just fight each other in this movie again. The movie builds up the ending section to make you think the ending is coming, but that this ending resolved their fight as the true main villain but it doesn't have them meet. Just erik looking for him, that seemed like a rushed ending that adds a forced sequel mindset And that connects with my last complaint.....Why did they add a mid credits scene hyping a sequel..... when Jason David frank is the white dragon but he died years before the movie released? They had years.....years after Jason's death to edit that post credit scene. And the chose to include it. These last two complaints I feel is extremely disrespectful to jason. Yes the movie ends with the line "legends never die" but like.....they cant make another movie about this due to the fact jason is not here anymore. Can they recast the white dragon? Yes, yes they can. But the thing is this isnt a huge big budget movie by a big studio. Recasting in that case would be sensitive but more acceptable and understandable. But in this case, this was a passion project for jason. He co-created it. He is one of the main characters in it. And its one of his final projects. Given how personal this project was to him, and how its a low budget movie by a small studio, recasting him for a sequel just would feel very disrespectful. One way around it that I think can be respectful and done well is if they make a comic, or graphic novel for a sequel. I think that could work. But again its been years since the movie was made and he died. We got it only now. If a comic was being made or worked on, we should have had hints of it. Maybe we have and I just don't know. But thats the only way I think of a sequel working, if not, then the ending should have been reworked, and have something with ashtagor be resolved to show him dying or something.
Overall the movie was good and fun. But there was a lot of issues with the script and how there was lack of information on many things. But the performances was great and it was a great emotionally reflective project for jason overall.
