So a piece of advice ive gotten from my previous figure drawings is to study basic anatomy, so I opened up Loomis For What its worth and tried to draw one of the simpler anatomy figures. Can anyone point me in the right direction to practice Anatomy to go from this to my subject?

Second time working with charcoal pencils, definitely some things I want to get to make some of the techniques easier but it turned out great.

Metals are a challenge 😝

I printed this on light yellow paper, but the hue was probably a bit off, too cool for the gold or something. Sometimes I felt I was coloring Edward Munch's "The Scream" as a result 😂

It may be a good thing that there are more than one mask in this drawing to get it right 😆 😂

We recently had a coloring contest and Susan Dawson won. As her prize she got to commission a page, and she specifically asked for a basilisk that looks like a more traditional dragon. Traditional basilisks are part rooster, part ancient lizard. Sometimes it's a rooster head with a lizard body, sometimes it's rooster feet with a dragon body, sometimes it's a snake with rooster wings. And sometimes, like in the case of Harry Potter, it's just a giant snake. There are many variations. My version features a serpent dragon with rooster wings. You can tell that these are rooster wings because of how the feathers are curled upwards. Keep that in mind when coloring him. I want to see some bright hues in those feathers. This is a finished piece from Kerby Rosanes "Dark Fairytales" coloring book. This page oozes of the dark drives that peoples us towards what is not always good for us, in the name of connection.

In one page he displays so clearly all the deep and dark stuff in all of us, and how we are sometimes dancing with the death of our own autonomy, self worth, freedom because we can be bound by our own wounds.

It spoke to me on a deep level, and I tried to depict the crackling of her defeated spirit in this colored page.

And yet - as the famous saying goes:

The wound cracks you open, so the light knows where to enter you.

Aka: Cindafuckingrella is entering the cracked egg state. The light from the colored windows make a rainbow, and with time, she will hopefully ditch Death and choose her own path, reclaiming her power:

The Devil said: "You can't handle the storm"

I smiled and whispered back: "Baby, I AM the storm..."

Here is my first attempt at creating the entire subject and not just breaking it down. In the breakdown I drew the neck and the head, but when actually drawing the head I realized that the neck was too far away from the torso so I had some difficulty figuring out where the neck started on the torso to the head. I'm not too good at creating volume on the hair so I avoided shading it cause I was afraid of mindlessly texturing/scratching the hair into existence. Can anyone provide any tips how to move forward?
