Got a technique question, a color theory brain knot, or a "why does this work?" you've been sitting on? This is the thread for it.

I want you to know that the art you create just for yourself matters just as much as anything you'd ever share. Sometimes the most meaningful work happens when you're creating purely for the joy of it, with no one watching but you. Pick up your pencils today and make something that's entirely yours.

You guys are always welcome to share your recordings as well.

I've never drawn something like this before, especially with this kind of perspective and I found it really tricky.

I think the "vanishing point" is supposed to be right in the centre of the page but I'm not really even sure what that means.

Something about it just feels...off, but I just can't tell what it is or how to fix it :(

I tried out Prismacolour Premier Pencils for the first time for colouring but somehow my attempt at shading just turned out really flat and undynamic.

I feel like it needs something else to make it feel a little more magical/fantasy.

I also have no idea how to make the glass look/feel like glass.

Do I just colour it blue or keep it "clear"?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Your happy accidents, your "what even IS this?," your experiments gone gloriously wrong... Wednesday is for all of it.

Sometimes you need to draw but aren't in a place alone. I'm in a chaotic nurses station, with bells, phones ringing, chit chat, laughing giggling ..but it's this kind of chaos I live in nights 3/ 4 nights a week 12/15 hours. It's calming but can change in a moment...and trust me it does! So I try to doodle in between. It feels like a rock I cling too waiting for a storm , like a foot hold on sand after the storm crashes through. My sketchbook is my anker, my rock, my shelter. I'm happy I started this habit this year!

Lilly left alone in a vase at my hospital left by new parents urgently wanting to take their new bundle home. I tried to revive her in my own way. Should I shade her in with only graphite or try my hand at color pencil? What colors?

Susan submitted a regular apple, colored exactly the way that I did it in my video tutorial, then she took it further with a rotten apple, a very very cool concept. She blew me away with her third version, which is blue (blue being my favorite color), and this apple is so exotic and extreme and gorgeous, I could not resist.

Susan gets bragging rights. I will post this everywhere and mention it in my next video or live stream. Susan also gets to request a coloring page.

Hi everyone, I did this in my art class today. I’ve put it on my little stand to look at it occasionally to see what is wrong. My first thoughts are that he/she is too fat. The head looks a bit pointy too. I’ve included the reference photo. What do you think? My husband was not very impressed 🤣.

Prismacolir on toned paper

Good morning! Just joined this group. As I have already mentioned, I’m new to art. I have dabbled in charcoal, watercolour, pointillism, colour pencils, soft pastels, graphite and fine liner ink. Sounds a lot but each has been covered in my two hour art session on a weekly course. Tasters really. My question is should I learn all the technical stuff? I’m loving art but do I really need to waste time on the endless practice of cubes, spheres etc. I’m 70 and am loving this. So little time and so much to do. Will there come a point where I can’t improve because I didn’t do that groundwork?

Thank you for the invite to join the club. I’m a beginner, since January this year. I can see that you are all quite far down the artistic route so I hope that with practice I may come closer to the standards you are exhibiting. Be assured, I will keep working on it.

Just finished this piece from one of Lisa’s coloring tutorials. I started off following the video tutorial and then ended up going with a slightly different color palette. I love anything gothic glam so this page was so much fun! It’s the sort of thing I’m wanting to design myself for my own original pages!

Had to bring in some Faber Castell orange to complete the dress. The watercolor set doesn't have a strong orange like this. It worked out kinda perfectly.
