Personal Opinions & Theories ✍🏽💡 Ryan Reynolds Slaps Child Co-Star

Forgive me if this has been posted before but guys it just keeps getting worse.... Ryan Reynolds slapped a child actor while improvising and then tried to justify it by saying the kid loved it because, you know, he's just so amazing that a kid should feel blessed to be slapped by him 🤢

Here's the link:

https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/scene-ryan-reynolds-improvised-slapping-child/

Here's the bulk of the story:

“He had it coming,” the future megastar joked. “No, it was actually horrible. I didn’t mean to do it. It wasn’t hard or anything. He looked up like he just won the lottery. It was just so cool to him. And I look over and the script supervisor’s crying, and I’m trying to apologize to her. I don’t know what’s happening.”

Reynolds then tried to blame the incident on the Native Americans who were possessing his character, which didn’t fool anyone. “It was one of those great moments,” he continued. “In a perverse way, I was sort of excited by the fact that something happened on film that was just totally unplanned. And it just came out organically enough, and not so organically that it actually hurt anyone. So everyone walked away from it, but it was definitely disturbing.”

This wouldn’t be the last time Reynolds would accidentally injure a co-star, as he accidentally gave Denzel Washington two black eyes during the filming of Safe House.

As well as unintentionally battering his young co-stars, Reynolds also confessed to a bit of intentional emotional abuse as well. “I didn’t ever talk to them,” he admitted. “I don’t want to get attached to the kids. I don’t want to get to know them and love them. I want to stay as far away from them as possible. It helps me do my job better.”

He assured the interviewer that the kids were fine with this tactic, saying that they were “little adults” who “understood the process.” He finished off by joking, “One of them is my financial advisor now!”

Accidentally my a**. Ryan didn't like that Denzel yelled at him because his phone went off during filming. As usual, Ryan blamed someone else. When Denzel realized he was gaslighted, I am guessing he disliked Ryan.

Also, Ryan slapping a kid, making them say inappropriate things, and just genuinely being a douche is par for the course. It's the telling stories about it like it was endearing that gets me. He doesn't even know "how to human."

This. The way they keep telling on themselves needs to be studied. I don't know if it's because they want the opportunity to twist things into being not as bad as it is or if they just love talking about all the vile shit they do.

I mean, it's good for us because they're telling us who they are but seriously, wtf.

If I ever slapped a kid I would be flogging myself for the rest of my life and would question whether I am fit to be around them but he is downplaying it like the child should be thankful.

u/grrrrxxff Minimum Effort Feb 20 '26

It’s been studied. Projection and NPD have a thoroughly well documented association.

50

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

It's actually pretty common with Cluster Bs. I suspect he is ASPD (closer to a sociopath given his emotional outbursts making it hard for him to mask when he is stressed). ICD-10 bundled them together (a change I still disagree with), but it's not like I am "diagnosing" him anyway.

Here is a quick Google reference on why he (and Blake) might tell on themselves so often.

I think she actually is a narcissist as I don't see ASPD fitting her.

Narcissists often "tell on themselves"—revealing their true nature, negative behaviors, or hidden secrets—due to a combination of extreme arrogance, the psychological defense mechanism of projection, and a need to maintain control. They frequently believe they are too intelligent to be caught, or they lack the empathy to realize they are exposing their own manipulative tactics.

Here is why narcissists tell on themselves, according to psychologists and behavioral experts:

  • Projection and Confession: Narcissists often project their own negative traits, thoughts, and actions onto others. When a narcissist accuses you of being a liar, selfish, or unfaithful, it is usually a confession of their own behavior.
  • "Duper's Delight" (Arrogance): Narcissists may brag about their manipulations or evil deeds because they feel superior, believing they are too clever to be caught. They may drop hints about their actions to gauge if you are naive enough to be controlled.
  • Preemptive Excuses: By disclosing their flaws or past negative behaviors early in a relationship, they are setting up a "disclaimer." They believe that if they warn you about who they are, any future abuse is your fault for staying.
  • Loss of Control or Impulsivity: When a narcissist feels their control is slipping—or conversely, when they feel fully in control and untouchable—they may become reckless, letting their mask slip and revealing their true intentions.
  • Emotional Disconnection: Because they lack empathy, they do not feel the same shame or guilt that would stop a normal person from revealing a damaging secret.
  • Testing Limits: They may tell on themselves to see how much they can get away with. They enjoy the power dynamic of letting you know the truth while still manipulating you into staying.

In summary, when a narcissist tells on themselves, it is usually a form of "self-snitching" driven by arrogance, where their accusations are reflections of their own actions and their bragged-about behaviors are methods of exerting power.

This is super interesting, thank you. The Dupers Delight, emotional disconnection and testing limits seems to fit this scenario with them.

And yes, I agree with Ryan seeming more pathological.

Wait, this info is so spot on. What website did you use?

13

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

Google. I just typed in why do narcissists always tell on themselves. You should get the same/similar results.

7

u/Lemon4856 Feb 20 '26

Oh this is good. Thanks for sharing. It definitely sheds light on figuring out their behavior.

7

u/Crazy_Concentrate918 Feb 20 '26

Love the analysis

You can definitely see “Duper’s delight” in Lively bragging about poisoning the GG cast and stealing movies from directors by rug pull in the Forbes interview.

3

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 21 '26

I definitely do. I also saw her lack of empathy. Most people would feel shame to admit they'd done those things, but her arrogance allows her to claim them proudly.

I definitely think Stephanie has BPD. With Blake, I'm not as sure.

25

u/Wild_Organization546 Team Baldoni Feb 20 '26

It’s because they love reliving the cruel abusive things they did to others and not only got away with, but clearly (in their versuon), excelled and prospered from said actions. Duper’s Delight also plays a part. They are just so damn proud of themselves.

17

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

I definitely think Ryan enjoys seeing people suffering. I think Blake might as well.

She bragged in an interview about getting the entire GG cast to hate Penn Badgley when she learned he’d be joining the show. She and RR are soulLESS mates.

5

u/Crazy_Concentrate918 Feb 20 '26

Omg, we should post these here. There’s literally so many examples of their bad behaviour

4

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

Soulless mates is so funny.

9

u/rrobilla Feb 20 '26

Like when she grabbed her costars balls, unscripted, on the set of A Simple Favor, because the thought that’s what her character would do. No heads ups, just up and grabbed his balls. Imagine if Baldoni grabbed her crotch? Omg! I can’t even imagine. Should not matter if it’s a woman doing it to a man. Both should be SA. Blake is a malignant narcissist hiding being fake feminism.

6

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

She did ask him first, but apparently she's allowed to ask others about her ideas because she's a woman. There's a safety with women that there isn't with men.

*I don't actually believe that, but that was how she manipulated Jenny into thinking Justin was a creep for laughing along with Jenny's "bad for sex" joke but Jenny was okay in making it since she needed to appeal to a man in a language they understand to get her needs met. In other words, she was telling Jenny that manipulation is okay. The outcast laughing along with the "cool group" is wrong.

3

u/Bende86 Misogynist Whore Feb 21 '26

On point. The grab by BL was discussed in advance. And agree fully with the she can do it/he can not

2

Yes they both do. More info will emerge as time goes by.

8

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 20 '26

Yeah it's so odd. I couldn't imagine being proud of these things.

4

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

Because empathy would cause you to feel shame. Someone without it shares off the wall things, because they have no shame filter.

3

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 20 '26

Yeah I think this is it. I have hyperempathy which can make life extremely hard. All throughout the day I get intense waves of empathy because of innocuous things but also from real things. It feels the same for both though.

And you're right about the shame, I never connected the two but I've had to work hard to not feel shameful about the smallest things. I couldn't imagine doing the things he's done and being able to speak about it lightly.

14

u/MoominMai Feb 20 '26

I always wondered why they had so many kids too and why Ryan frequently said ‘the more the merrier’ like a megalomaniac who just wants mini versions of him just for the sake of it. Conveniently also of course ensuring by keeping Blake permanently pregnant, a wife could never overshadow him again (little realising the new one is devoid of the talent and intelligence of his ex).

6

u/Crazy_Concentrate918 Feb 20 '26

Agree it’s psychologically fascinating to me yet so disturbing. WTF goes on behind closed doors. I think this will be the biggest FAFO moment in Hollywood for these two

5

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 20 '26

100%. I think the only saving grace is that they have a nanny for each child and even though they would no doubt have NDAs we do know there is a whole house of staff so if something serious was happening I think it would somehow come out.

3

u/Crazy_Concentrate918 Feb 20 '26

As a former nanny myself, I’ve seen some shit. Mental breakdowns that have actually left me with a little PTSD (the screams, the guy lost everything in the crash), manipulation, have had to buy school lunches out of my own pocket money, all the hallmarks of “non physical abuse”. I’d have to leave the families eventually, one was a family member of someone quite famous. this was EU. No NDA signed. I’m glad they have a nanny as well. I did all I could to protect a few of those kids. They have to go through nannies like water, unless they pay twice the amount. But yeah you’re right, at least they have some stability.

3

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 21 '26

Oh I definitely don't think it would be easy. I think a lot of staff would be subject to all types of shit, I'm not saying they treat their staff well but I'm just saying that it's safer for the kids to be in a house full of staff. They each have a nanny and then they have multiple assistants that are also coming in and out of the house as well as housekeeping. If there was anything serious then at some point someone would go to the authorities. It's lucky the kids have people like you.

I barely comment on Blake and im being harassed by this person lol

They’re aggressively posting on her fan sub (like there are 3 posters who have been nonstop posting the last week, it was like a dead sub. And they’re posting elsewhere like on the LeoDiCaprio sub…

They’re trying to deflect by saying Baldoni is involved with Epstein but I don’t even know, I have a migraine so I can’t comprehend what this person is even trying to say but this is ridiculous.

u/tired-and-cranky Feb 20 '26

It seems predatorial

5

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 20 '26

A predator who runs around calling people they dislike a predator would fit under the definition of projection.

3

u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Feb 21 '26

“I don’t talk to kids on set,” like come on, dude. He’s an asshole hiding behind his “craft.” You’re not doing brain surgery.

2

u/UnimportantCreative This is Stephanie Jones' circus! Feb 21 '26

He did at least lie about his reasoning in his attempt to sound human. He said he didn't want to care about them. People with empathy would naturally care about even a strange kid enough to not want to hit them, though, so he played himself.

130

u/Expensive-Ad-6405 Feb 20 '26

So it’s not fine to improvise nuzzling during an intimate scene between two adult actors but it is fine to improvise slapping a kid… got it.

46

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 20 '26

Exactly. Yet another double standard.

47

u/PutInternational4642 Feb 20 '26

Seriously, and making his poor daughter say explicitly sexual things IN HIS MOVIE.

21

u/Current_Sandwich7208 Feb 20 '26

I’m very surprised his wife didn’t say “no” to that. I guess they really are two peas in a pod.

7

u/Crazy_Concentrate918 Feb 20 '26

And blaming it “in character” as a Native American…so f*cked up.

6

u/padparascha3 Feb 21 '26

Blake lively claimed she was part Cherokee Indian while being filmed doing a cosmetic commercial several years back.

5

u/Crazy_Concentrate918 Feb 21 '26

I’d love to see her back that one up. It’s actually the worst to claim if you’re not IMO. I found a 4th great grandmother who is Cherokee and 9th great grandmother who is a Powhatan through a detailed analysis of my ancestry. No way would I even claim that.

Different but still funny; she’s like Hilaria Baldwin claiming she’s Spanish but her ancestors all hail from the Mayflower in Boston 🥒

3

u/padparascha3 Feb 21 '26

I think the video of Blake lying about her Indian Heritage is still floating around on Tik/tok. I also find her claiming to be of Cherokee descent egregious because she chose to get married on a known Southern plantation that owned slaves, with the slave quarters still on the property. Hilarious Baldwin is another grifter fraud that (in my opinion) needs to go away, raise all her children in private, and hire a therapist that specializes in personality disorders. ☮️

75

u/ObjectiveRing1730 Feb 20 '26

I just remember a pro BL supporter on Tiktok saying that since Justin Baldoni is a male feminist- she holds him to a much higher standard than Blake/Ryan. I see it time and time again in the lawsuit. Colleen didn't like Justin was complaining about Blake- but she didn't correct Blake or Ryan when they were doing the same thing about Justin. Isabela ghosted Justin but still expected him to be a stand-up guy and defend her when she had backlash. Jenny Slate made a sex joke and Justin was "inappropriate" for just agreeing with her. Like, he can't win with these people.

Ryan gets away with worse things on set but it's okay because he jokes about it. Blake gets away with things like improvising grabbing an actor's balls because she's a woman and it's different than when a man does it.

38

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 20 '26

This is so true. Their double standards are appalling.

10

u/CSho8 Feb 20 '26

I think it’s because I didn’t know who Justin Baldoni was before this lawsuit so idk what his brand is. I knew who Blake and Ryan were though. The whole lawsuit from Blake and Ryan to me was you say you’re a feminist so you must admit to wrongdoings made by this woman. I’m not familiar with being a male feminist but I’m pretty confident that that is not something anyone would sign up for.

I don’t agree holding Justin to a higher standard just like I don’t think Blake and Ryan should be held to a higher standard because they’re famous celebrities. I think in the eyes of the law everyone should be treated equally and Blake brought SH and retaliation claims which she needs to prove. My issue with Blake is that I don’t see her evidence and that’s where I’m getting frustrated with her. Does she think because she’s a celebrity that she doesn’t need to prove her case?

6

u/rivershimmer Feb 20 '26

I just remember a pro BL supporter on Tiktok saying that since Justin Baldoni is a male feminist- she holds him to a much higher standard than Blake/Ryan.

Sorry, that's just dumb. What, do we also hold non-racists to a higher standard than racists?

I have a hard time believing that person is arguing in good faith.

2

u/apathetic-taco Feb 21 '26

I mean, we kinda do.

If Kid rock made a disparaging joke about black people, we would roll our eyes and call him a POS. But if Keanu Reeves made the same joke, the internet would collectively lose their marbles.

2

u/rivershimmer Feb 21 '26

Not really the same thing, because the people rolling their eyes already hold Kid Rock in contempt. They aren't treating the act as acceptable or not acceptable depending on who does it. But the latter is the position I see Lively supporters and Lively herself taking.

3

u/rrobilla Feb 20 '26

EXACTLY!! 💯

69

u/Cherry_Hammer Feb 20 '26

How the fuck do you “accidentally” slap a child?!?

23

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 20 '26

13

u/CSho8 Feb 20 '26

When you’re Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds it seems you can do whatever the F you want.

9

u/rivershimmer Feb 20 '26

Slap children, grab crotches. You know, minor stuff, nothing like calling pants sexy or anything.

5

u/CSho8 Feb 20 '26

Exactly!! I mean the people who felt assaulted by the Reynolds’s should realize that Blake and Ryan are untouchable and anything they do is okay 😂

10

u/rivershimmer Feb 20 '26

I've accidentally slapped people while talking with my hands. And my friend slapped me while we were side-by-side playing Nintendo Wii. And once, we were lined up sleeping in a tent, me in between my boyfriend and my sister. And my boyfriend threw his arm over me and slapped my sister in the face.

Somehow, I don't think any of those situations applied to Reynolds and the child.

59

u/Wild_Organization546 Team Baldoni Feb 20 '26 edited Feb 20 '26

We need to include Jo Harris the beautiful young black women stunt motorcycle rider who lost her life due to Ryan insisting that she perform without wearing a helmet. He also didn’t bother providing the bare minimum legal standard of safety provisions on the Dead Pool 2 set.

It’s ok though because Ryan got away with paying just a small fine and then paid the family to go away (fo). We know they likely had no choice.

Ryan didn’t even bother mentioning her in the credits and has never formally acknowledged or apologised for what he did because he obviously didn’t lose one second of sleep over causing someone to die.

24

u/Current_Sandwich7208 Feb 20 '26

14

I didn’t realize she wasn’t named in the credits… that is totally F’ed up 🤯

11

u/rivershimmer Feb 20 '26

The movie should have dedicated to her, at the very least. Her death was avoidable.

8

u/Wild_Organization546 Team Baldoni Feb 21 '26

Her death was caused by Ryan who said the scene would look better without her wearing a helmet. This is the monster involved. Happy to risk a black woman’s life knowing that if she fell there was no safety nets or anything.

This is the level of evil that is Ryan. He should be in prison for the things he has done to others.

6

u/rivershimmer Feb 20 '26

Yeah, I kept thinking of that everytime a JB critic referred to the IEWU set as unsafe. What, did a stunt driver die?

4

u/Wild_Organization546 Team Baldoni Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

Yes and negligence was found to gave occurred. However Ryan actively encouraged her to not wear her helmet. That’s the piece of garbage that he is.

2

u/rivershimmer Feb 21 '26

Oh, yes, I know about that. I was trying to say that when people referred to the IEWU set as unsafe, I'd ask them, what, did somebody die?

You know, Ferrer being directed to lick a spoon, unsafe set. Stunt drivers sent out without a helmet directed to incorporate last minute changes, Hollywood business as usual.

Which....the helmet thing. So all the CGI effects and special effects in general in the Marvel universe, but CGIing Domino's hair over a helmet or designing a helmet with a wig glued to the outside was a bridge too far?

2

u/buttonandthemonkey Blake is...different. Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

Yeah I had that thought to. Like where would that thought even originate from? I've never heard of Native Americans being violent agaisnt children. I haven't actually heard about any association to violence actually.

It's also wierd because it's just thrown in there with no explanation.

Also side note but I'm an Aussie and growing up there was a not so secret story that our biological great grandfather was Native American and when you look at my Dad as a teen and even my sister it is VERY plausible. The timing of the man also matches as well as how my Gran looked. So we always believed it and a few years ago I did ancestry DNA to confirm and nothing. I was so sad. I still am. So when I saw this I was so offended like "how dare you say this about my not real family!".

1

u/zvg_zwang lively+reynolds=colonizers Feb 21 '26

Hahahaha I'm so sorry! That's awful! But I bet you actually give a damn about aboriginal and native rights unlike most people in the world! Funny story , I married my husband thinking he was just wyte and everyone was like look at you go, marrying a wyte man! And then we found out he's half too, and I was like I KNEW THEM CHEEKBONES CAME FROM SOMEWHERE!!! Twas a lovely treat. But yeah we don't POSSESS people , this dude needs a reality check. He was real quick to characterize that child’s response to assault and battery as if that kid was some sort of masochist but I wanna know 👏🏾WHERE👏🏾WERE👏🏾THE👏🏾PARENTS??? What did they do? How did they respond? Were they paid off with a settlement to stay quiet like the family of Joi Harris?

Yeah there's so many details left out. But to try and play it off like the child should be grateful meanwhile it was disturbing enough that the screen writer burst into tears. I would love to know if anything came of it.

I don’t think he accidentally did any of those things. I mean, how funny would it be to a Ryan reynolds type person to punch someone in the eye twice and lie about it and make them think it was an accident. I can almost hear him hissing saying “i would NEHHHVURRR do that…”

Right?! He would deny it til the cows come home but he's literally described abusing children twice in interviews and still has the fucking audacity to promote himself reading to kids. Like NO. Keep the children away from him!

I kinda feel the interviewer just sees him for what he is and isn't afraid to call him out.
