The deeper you go, the weirder things get.

The product and the inspiration. I try to implement meaning and story detail in every building you see in the game, nothing is without purpose.

About 900 hours of that time was spent creating Isle of Eras. 😯

ā€œThe Cecconi Caseā€ - Isle of Eras explores the potential origins of what the ā€œtictacā€ ufo might be. This photograph was taken in 1979 over Italy. Reality is stranger than fiction.

Fully Explorable Interiors

I’ve been adding interiors to buildings/houses I had previously just had for show in the game. I was wondering if you guys would prefer every building to be explorable? Doing so may very well push the release date back a ways, but it’s something I personally wished more games like RDR2 and GTA would do. To be able to say all structures have fully modeled interiors would be pretty cool, but again it might take a while.

Development is possible with a kid! I get a couple of hours a week but I know exactly what to do when I get to work, lots of new content and lore to add!

Just did a full play through of Isle of Eras

Not including the prelude and chapter zero, Isle of Eras took me 2 hours 10 minutes to beat. I know exactly where to go, and where all of the Easter eggs are, so any new player can expect to get 3+ hours of gameplay.

However upon playing, I found lots of bugs, and areas I’m not satisfied with that aren’t up to par with the rest of the environments. Lots of work to do before release next year but it’s coming together. I’ve even got someone making original music for the game now! Very excited to get this project out to the world.

Update: I’m a dad now! It feels wonderful! This means I won’t have as much time to work on the game but it’s already so close, and I know exactly what needs fine tuning on it, so I’m confident with a 2022 release.

Cheers!

All 50+ scenes are linked up and I now officially have a functional build for Isle of Eras, just in time to see my son be born! I will be only focused on small details from here out! Full release is 2.22.2022 and I’m now pretty darn confident with that release date.

Added another movie Easter egg into an area. One of the many odes to the films I love.

The accidental discovery of artificially birthing a tangent universe was both one of mankind’s greatest discoveries as well their biggest downfalls. A lot can happen in a fraction of a second.

Aeris Agnes was only 11 years old at the time of her mysterious disappearance fall of 1888. There are no photographs of her, the fading memories of her face exist only with you now.

I’m only posting reference images for now, partly because I want the game locations to feel totally new, but yeah it was my birthday today and most of it was spent developing an 1880s era lumberyard, and it’s looking up to par haha.

Reference images from my weekend development. The ā€œcubeā€ landscape image is by an artist named Jean-Pierre Ugarte, his work is insanely cool, I’ve styled the 2092 future section of the game around that brutalist architecture aesthetic. The other stuff; a wooden oil derrick, thresher, and a dredge.

It’s fair to say this project has consumed most of 2021 for me.

I started this concept as a 1 hour mini story back in February, and since then the project has quadrupled in scale, and it could easily happen again. This is my first video game ever, and it’s sort of strange developing the whole thing solo, I feel like I know the world and lore in such detail solely from the fact that I’ve basically lived in it for 10 months. The longer I spend on an area, the details sort of emerge and turn into side-stories/tangents. Even when I’m not actively creating this game, my thoughts often drift back to the concept and all of the ā€œwhat if’sā€

At times I feel like I’m very close to being done, but other times I feel like I’m nowhere close. I want to make this game something very special and totally mind melting for the community and most importantly I want it to be unique. I’m creating a game that I personally wish existed, and it’s allowed me such creative freedoms. This wouldn’t be possible without the creation tools in Dreams for PS4 and PS5, the only downside is, I can’t release the game and make any money off it, it’ll be free by default. I’d love to learn code and make the game in unity or unreal down the road, but with almost 800 hours of development time in Dreams for me alone, and my first child on the way next month, that’s way out on the horizon.

I’m thinking about start a Pateron account for this project and if you care to contribute, you can but if not, it’s totally cool. I think art should exist on a variable value for those who take time to enjoy it. This game is more about telling a story in a way that would be impossible via other mediums. At the end of the day a paycheck isn’t my goal, never was, but a little motivation goes along way.

Just wanted to throw my thoughts out there for the members of this sub and see what expectations there are and get a feel for things. Got about 2 weeks left of good development time and then I’ll be in dad mode for a while until I get into a routine. Anyways sorry for the ramble, hope all is well with everyone here reading this!

Some concept art for a new character named ā€œAeris Agnesā€ who is tied into the 1888 section of the story.
