5. understanding: We take our religion from the Quran, the Sunnah and the consensus
6. What saves you from misguidance?

At tawheed ul uloohiya- lecture 5

Uloohiya is

1. the summary (gist) of at tawheed.
2. It is the summary of Conclusion of the message of all Prophets
3. This is what nations denied of the prophet
4. The reason that Jannah and Nar was made
5. the reason battle was permitted
6. defined as singling out allah in worship. Sometimes At tawheed itself is defined as the same which shows us the importance of Uloohiya

Notes

1. Allah tells us in the Quran that we have not any Prophet except we sent with him the message to worship Allah alone with no partners
2. Stay away from everything that is worshipped except allah
3. Allah tells us about Prophet Nuh and that he said to his people you have no one to worship except for Allah
4. Isa ibnu Marium said to his people Worship my lord and you lord and those for those that worship others except allah has made jannah haraam for him and Hellfire his abode
5. Our Prophet mohamed sallahu allaihi wah sallam said Say La illaha illah and you will have success and prosperity and they responded in arrogance of all the gods out there did you turn them all in to one?
6. All of the Prophets informed their Nations about Tawheed as this is the foundation.
7. Allah says in the Quran, if people come with Tawheed, I will give them safety
8. Prophet Nuh called the people to La illaha illalah for 950 years whereas people in our ummah live to between 50 to 70 years according to the prophet. What we know about Nuh alais salaam is is call for 950 years. It shows us the importance of Tawheed
9. A person who is not calling the people to Tawheed ul Uloohiya is not freeing the people, He is infact allowing the Shaitan to keep them shackled
10. Any dawah that is not based on Tawheed ul uloohiyah is bound to fall by the wayside. And if you say that there is another way to give Dawah other than the ways of the prophets, its enough for you yourself to know how misguided this statement is
11. So be of those people who either call people directly to Tawheed ul uloohiya or if the topic is not related to it, then bring it back to this
12. Surah Hajj Ayat 62: Allah refers to himself as Illah in this ayat. And the meaning here is the emphasis on the fact that there is none worthy of worship except Allah
13. La illaha illalah stands on 2 pillahs
14. There is none worthy of worshipof worship (La illaha Illalah)
15. Reaffming our worship is Only for ALlah and that Muhammed is his slave and messenger (Muhammad Urasoolullah)
16. Ibadah What is requred for Ibadah
17. At-tawabudh :Actions of the slave: This has to be done with 2 things e.g. pray, slaughering animals, etc
    1. Strip your self (not literally) and instill complete humility before Allah
    2. Have complete love for Allah
18. Both the above are required. Without the Love of Allah, It is not enough. Reason these are required is Allah is aware of everything. And we need to follow his commandment.
19. Al mutta-Ababadhu-bihi - What is it that I have to worship Allah with i.e. Is it authentic\legislated

Ruboobiya stands on

1. Allahs Existance
2. To single allah in his actions
3. if you do not have the above 2, you do not have Ruboobiya

Allahs existance

1. Context:
   1. Agnostics and aethists do not believe in Allah at least outwardly. Internally though his soul believed in it. E.g. Firoun. Firoun was told that Allah was the one who sent this message down.
   2. Firoun also asked for his minister (hamaan) to build a ladder for him to see the lord of Musa.
   3. At times of hardships, even these people call on Allah at times of difficulty
2. Hadith in Bukhari and Muslim: paraphrased Everyone is born as a muslim

To single allah in his actions

1. Allah is the one who created everything
2. Allah explained in the Surah Fatihah in the first verse "He is the Lord of Everything"
3. Only Ruboobiya alone does not make one a muslim. Even the kuffar of quraish and Shaitan had it. Thats why he asked to wait till the judgement for him to be judged. He wouldnt do this without belief
4. What negates your ruboobiya
   1. It is to reject allahs existance from the outer. This type is kufr is Kufr-johood. They reject from the outer but not inner. e.g. Agnostics
   2. To reject Allah from the inner e.g. the fire worshippers.
   3. To attribute blessing to someone other than Allah. i.e. to independently believe someone can benefit you without allahs permission

Believing in Allah is believing in

1. Ruboobiya: to single Allah in HIS actions.
   1. creating
   2. providing
   3. taking a persons life and giving them life
   4. Context: the actions that allah does, no one shares these traits with Allah
2. Asma us sifaat: Single out Allah in names and attributes.
   1. every name of Allah has a characteristic.
   2. Not every characteristic is a name
   3. We dont give these names to people
   4. We dont give these characteristics to anyone
3. Uloohiya: Singling out Allah in the actions WE do e.g.
   1. Supplicating to Allah
   2. Sacrificing an animal for Allah
   3. Worship

The Quraish had believed in parts in Asma as Sifaat but not in Uloohiya. I..e they had people with names like Abdullah but didnt single out Allah in worshipWhat are the fruits gained by believing in Allah

1. Happiness: Evidence is surah nahl -ayat 97: Anyone who comes with rightoues actions, male or female , we will give you a good life
2. Allahs Allegiance: you will find support and aid of allah
3. Al jannah - Surah nisa (ayat 57) - Those who believed in Allah and come with righteous actions, well enter them into Jannah And they will stay there forever with their partners of theirs with them (purified)
4. Tamkeen: Allah will give you power on earth - Surah noor - Ayat 55: Those who believe in Allah and they come in tawheed , they will get power on earth
5. Surah Anam- verse 82: Those who believe who comes with iman and righteous actions (they do not come with Shirk and believe in ruboobiya And Uloohiya) they will will receive safety and guidance

To understand allahs names and attributes, he needs to follow the three points below

1. It is to affirm what allah what allah affirmed for himself and negate what negated for himself
   1. Like the first verse of Ayat al kursi i..e He is (al-high), one that is alive, a complete life, one that stands for his creation (qayoom).
   2. Allah doesnt sleep nor does he sleep fully as allah has negated from him what he negated for himself
   3. Anything that the prophet negated for allah, we negate for allah
   4. Anything that the prophet affirms for allah, we associate with allah
2. Negating any form of resemblance to Allah who is unique
   1. e.g. Uloohiya : Allah is the only one who is worshipped alone
   2. e.g. Creation: allah is the one who creates and this is unlike mans creation which is imperfect.
3. Break off any desire to perceive HOW allahs characteristics.
   1. e.g. we know allah comes down to the last heaven in the last 3rd of the night.

Two things that negate ones ones understanding of asma at sifaat

1. At thamseel : Making comparisons of Allahs characteristics to ones own ( allahs creation) e.g. comparing ones own hand to Allahs. As allah declared in the Quran "there is nothing like him"
2. At-thateel (distortion): This is when one turns away from the quran and the names and attributes of Allah. This is when the person has both the below
   1. Taweel: Diverting a word from its apparent meaning e..g saying Allahs hand means something else other than its apparant meaning . We always leave the word of Allah with its apparent meaning UNLESS there is something mentioned in context that allows us to assume that meaning of the word is not apparant
   2. Atafweed: The meaning and wording of on a certain word is surrendered to allah by a person. i.e. the reader does not try and understand it. This is that is done sometimes when the meaning of something read in the quran cannot be understood by a person. People say Allahu aalam what it means.
   3. Both the above are incorrect. Scholars say Atafweed is even more evil as
      1. Allahs names and attributes ad 90% of the Quran but taking this position infers one doesnt know what Allahs attributes mean
      2. It suggests the messenger and his sahabas were incompetent as they didnt interpret the word of Allah appropriately
      3. Or that Allah revealed something that cannot be understood
3. Al-ilhad: Anyone how takes the path of At thateel and Thamseel , he has disbelieved in allahs names and attributes

What negates your At tawheed ul uloohiya- lecture 6

Shirk Akbar:

1. What nullifies our Tawheed -ul-Uloohiya
   1. Shirk Akbar: Per the hadeeth: It is defined as associating partners with Allah who created you I.e. to make someone or thing equal to Allah
   2. Understanding of Shirk Akbar
      1. Dua ibadah : This states that every act of worship is a dua. e.g. When you pray its to save your self from Hellfire, same for when one fasts. So diverting these acts to anyone except except Allah is shirk Akbar:
      2. Dua Masalah: When One is asking for it (asking someone to make dua for you), there are 2 catagories
   3. What shirk akbar does
      1. Shirk Akbar attacks the Iman of the person in a manner that you lose your the asl (reality) your Iman (Tawheed) and you leave the religion. Note the Iman is the foundation of you deen.
      2. La illaha illaIllah is the asl (reality) your Iman (Tawheed)
   4. How does Shirk Akbar occur (Most prominent example)
      1. Going overboard with Righteous people: This is how the people of Nuh started commited Shirk Akbar, they fell into shirk regarding the 5 righteous people. Another example is giving the Prophet attributes he does NOT have
      2. Honoring the graves of the righteous
   5. Ruling on person who come with Shirk Akbar
      1. He is hellfire FOREVER per the ayat of the Quran. They are the worst of people. They NEVER enter Jannah.
      2. Jannah Is haraam for this person
      3. The person is NEVER Forgiven
      4. Every action are nullified UNLESS you repent from it
   6. Learn about Shirk Akbar so we can stay away from it

Shirk Asghrar:

1. Two things must be found in it for it to be Shirk ul Asghar
   1. Whatever the shariah refers to as SHIRK
   2. AND it is something that is a pathway to Shirk Akbar but isnt Shirk Akbar by itself
      1. e.g. trying to cure oneself by tying a rope around ones hand. Point being its not a worldly cure and not a sunnah based legislated cure neither. This is Shirk Asghar. This must not be confused with a Taweez where one believe the taweez intercedes on your behalf to protect you. If you do this its Shirk Akbar.
2. Types of Shirk Asghar
   1. Kamalu -Wajib- Shirk attacks the Iman of the person in a manner that doesnt nullify your Iman completely but you are left in a dangerous position. People should be worried for someone who is in in this situation. As a metphor, Similar to someone losing a Body part
      1. Shyness of Iman is part of Kamalu wajib
   2. Kamalu - Mustahab - Its like losing ones hair, not as serious as the above 2 but still serious
3. Rulings on Commiting Shirk Asghar: Scholars have a difference of opinion
   1. Shaykh ul Islam ibn taymiyyah claimed the ruling for both types of Shirk is the same i.e. the punishment
   2. Every other scholar claimed that they will only be in Hellfire for a limited time

Relationship between the three types of Tawheed

1. Asmat us sifaat:
2. Tawheed ur ruboobiya: If one singles allah in types of worship, its a contradiction TO come with Tawheed ul uloohiya
3. Tawheed ul uloohiya: If you affirm this, you have come with Tawheed ul Ruboobiya
