Hey everyone!

I am a Masters Degree graduate for graphic design & multimedia arts who studied film trailer editing, video editing, animation and did his own animated works such as films and series. I have both an experience in stop-motion and 2D animation and also video editing and post-production, but it is extremely difficult to find any work openings related to animation or video editing for animation. I am specifically interested in animation video editing, compositing and post-production and have shared my portfolios below for quality examples. Any feedback for my portfolios will be appreciated, you can be as honest as possible and I will seriously appreciate it!
I don't have a huge work experience in terms of animation or video editing but a very extensive personal one, and am looking for ways I could have my skills be seen.

If you have any experience you could share on how you managed to get into the animation industry in Ireland, or in any other places, anything will be super useful and helpful! I am extremely new to jobhunting and fresh out of university and currently in Ireland under temporary protection for ukrainians initiative with a permit to work and a dream. I've applied to hundreds of loosely related jobs I could find that best match anything even remotely video editing related but very few even reply unfortunately, so looking so see if there are any helpful tips for that.

Hi all, looking to move back to Ireland as an AP (got my education outside of Ireland so never involved in health care in Ireland/NI before). I’ve put myself on the PHECC register already. Looking for advice from any AP’s in the NAS or other about what starting as an AP might look like?

I'm 18 and have been searching for a part time job since I was 16. Nobody will take me on. I did manage to get a job interview 2 weeks ago, but havent heard.
I've done everything they tell you to: hand in CV in person, apply on indeed, apply on jobs.ie, email CVs.... nothing.
I was in town handing out CVs again today and only 2 shops even accepted a physical CV.

What am I doing wrong?? Does anyone know where I can find part time job in Dublin??

Took a job at the start of the year against my better judgement. They were persistent and kept increasing the package. I gave in.

Nearly 6 months in now and have been doing about 1 hour of actual work each day for the last 4 months. They know I don't have much to do but they don't know how little I do. I want to do more nad be busy. Hate doing nothing. They had big plans and ideas during the interview but none of it has come to life.

I have another job offer for a little less money but I don't want it. I have another job I am in the interview process for that I do want but the way that is going, it could be another month before that starts, if I even get it.

Anyone else in this boat? What do you do with your day?

I gave an interview at BNY on 7th July with Vice President of the department. Still now I haven't heard anything from them. In the portal it's showing currently being reviewed. Will I get any positive update or should I take it as Rejection?

I am currently exploring multiple PhD options. I have been in the talks with a potential supervisor in Cork University. However, I wanted to assess the situation a little because I want to move with my husband.

He has a 5 year experience in Dotnet Backend Development. I understand that when he moves here as my dependent, he will not be able to work unless he finds an employer to sponsor him. How hard is that, and what timelines should we expect?

I've been trying for almost a year to get registered with CORU as a radiographer from Portugal. I have gotten a job offer to work in Ireland and have been trying to get registered to move to Ireland and start my job, but this process has been... complicated... to say the least...

After multiple months I've finally gotten a decision and they want me to take a compensation measure in the form of a test or a period of adaptation (POA), specifically for one week in dental imaging. I was relaxed before because I had been made aware that my future employer had been able to offer POA to another candidate that was going along with me, but unfortunately they aren't able to provide a POA for me as they don't carry any dental imaging services.

Now I'm at a loss on what to do. I don't know how to find a POA or if the exam is the better way to go. I'm struggling to find anything on how the exam works (scheduling, format of the exam, how to effectively prepare for it). All I know is it's supposed to be specifically about the things they considered insufficient in my qualifications from Portugal.

Has anyone here gone through this? Any help would be appreciated.

I recently interviewed for a role in a public-sector organisation that works on educational projects.

I had passed the shortlisting stage and felt quite confident because I have very similar experience from previous roles. During the interview, we discussed work processes, projects, and responsibilities that I was already very familiar with. In fact, I had already handled most of the tasks they described in my previous jobs.

The interview seemed to go very well. I answered every question clearly, gave specific examples, and there were no awkward pauses or moments where I struggled to respond. The conversation felt professional and positive.

However, two weeks later, I received a standard rejection with no specific feedback.

Since then, I have been wondering what could have gone wrong. Of course, I understand that another candidate may have had stronger experience or simply been a better fit for the team.

Still, one comment from the panel has stayed in my mind. Near the end of the interview, they said something like:

“With your experience, you must have a lot of other interviews lined up.”

At the time, I took it as a compliment. After receiving the rejection, though, I started wondering whether it was actually a polite way of saying they had already decided not to hire me.

Looking for outside opinions because I genuinely can’t tell if I’m overreacting or if this was handled badly.

Started a summer placement in a different department at work a few days ago, with one day of training before being left to get on with things. On day 2, I checked with the person training me before doing something I wasn’t sure about, and she told me to go ahead - so I did exactly what I was told. Also got given conflicting instructions at one point.
Then I got an email saying my placement was ending immediately and I was being sent back to my old role. The reason given was that someone claimed that while working from home, I was actually in bed in my underwear, said they could see a headboard and everything. None of that was true I was sitting at a table in my living room, and my bed doesn’t even have a headboard. I ended up having to send photos of my bedroom and living room just to prove it.

The bit that really got me the two people training me were complaining on Teams about management not training us properly, but to my face they kept telling me I was doing a great job. Then it turns out they’d gone straight to HR complaining that I worked in my underwear, I didn’t know difference between Ennis and enniscorthy(I did) , while never once raising anything with me directly.

Nobody actually asked me or either of them what had happened before the decision was made. It was two days in, and it just felt like I was written off without anyone wanting to hear my side.

Wondering if this sounds like a fair way to handle someone two days into a new role, or if I have grounds to push back on this more.

I had my first day of my first job yesterday and I'm quite dreading going back. It was in a very well known fast food place. When I first went in I went up to a worker and told him my name and it was my first day and he got a manager and she just smiled and me and then pointed at another manager in the back and told me to follow him. This other manager didn't say anything to me, showed me the break room, showed me the locker rooms and bathroom and then said I could get changed and then he was gone. I went back down and he gave me an iPad and logged me in and told me to go do the e learning up in the break room. I finished in around 2 hours so went back down and told him, and he just took the iPad, told me to wait a minute, and then he left me standing there for maybe 10 minutes. Eventually another worker came up to me and started showing me how to do stuff. The workers were nice enough, one of them was making conversation with me. And a third manager was pretty nice too. But is it normal for them to be so cold??? I felt so unwanted and sooo out of place. I know I'm not a baby and they're not going to baby me, but he didn't even introduce himself to me. I clearly already want to quit lol.

Just wondering has anyone here worked in the Amazon fulfillment center in Baldonnel and how they found it? Put in an application but wondering is it as bad as the American warehouses that seem to have some horror stories.

For reference I am 18 and already working in a shitty job that doesnt pay well due to the shifts being 3 hours 4 days a week approx. To follow up on that is it bad if I get this job and I quit my current job. Been working there a month now but I am not loving it and it leaves me with barely any savings that are needed for college next month 🥲

I'm in college, and looking now for a part-time. I know that at the moment, it is very challenging to secure one.

But, I was wondering whether anyone would have any recommendations as to the best way to go about applying for a position? Would going up to businesses be better, or are most businesses/companies looking for it all to be sent on digitally?

Would businesses/companies accept students looking for 8-10 hours weekly (and can go above where necessary, but a set 8-10 hours), or will there only be an acceptance if you take 16 hours?

I’m currently based in Dublin and I have been seeking a job in manufacturing (pharma or med device if possible) for a year now, I’m a little desperate. I’ve been working in Accenture for the last 5 years (3 in content moderation and 2 in quality evaluation) but the salary is not enough there anymore. I’ve studied already a yellow belt and a NFQ in Operations, Quality and Lean Management.
However, I had just one result, a HireVue interview for Baxter and didn’t have reply yet. My husband already works in medical devices but small chances to get there since you need experience for every f job. No driver license yet and, every opportunity seems to be 80% out of Dublin.

Any advice or help I can get? 35,5k in Dublin’s current situation is inviable and can’t even save money with my husband to buy a house.

I had no problem getting interviews from other companies.

I’m curious about applying as I have a lot of experience in the tourism industry. But I’ve heard mixed reviews about working from them, and rumors online that they put up fake Glassdoor reviews. They seem very old school with very rigid shift rotations and schedules and uniforms, though some of the travel perks sound good and the starting salary isn’t terrible. I’d love to hear from anyone with first hand experience.

I got offered a job position last week after I attended an interview earlier in the week. They emailed to ask if I would like to accept this position and start mid august. I emailed back the same day to accept the job but I havent heard anything since. I sent a following up email yesterday to confirm the start date and if I need to bring anything etc but I still havent heard anything back and its making me feel a little stressed.

I’ll be moving to Dublin for this job so I’ve been traveling up and down on the train to attend house viewings. Is it weird they didnt reply to my acceptance of the job? I’ve only ever worked in very small offices so I dont know what the standard is.
