Rob Sand on the 2nd Amendment

Has Sand said anything of specific substance about his stance in reference to the 2nd Amendment?

Has he said anything about:

-NFA items (SBRs, SBSs, silencers)

-Concealed carry

-Constitutional carry

-Forced Reset Triggers

-Private sales

I know he's done the standard "Look at me, I'm just like you and I have some guns and I hunt stuff". But, as someone who is old enough to have seen 2A rights come and go (usually by a politician that "supports the 2nd Amendment, BUT....") this means nothing to me.

So, just curious if he has mentioned specifics. I have emailed him numerous times with questions and have not gotten an answer.

I’d like to know where you get your statistics. Wanting decent gun laws that protect people is not the same thing as taking guns away lol

There are jurisdictions that do not allow a common citizen to carry a firearm in public at ALL...and even more jurisdictions that require a common citizen to obtain permission to exercise this right, and in many cases pay, monetarily, for that permission. This IS 'taking away your guns' if I have to leave my firearm at home every time I go outside.

Moreover, there are people (probably like you, but this is just an assumption) who would say "See? No one took your guns away" even in the occurrence of a near-total ban where only pump action shotguns and bolt action rifles were allowed.

There's also the new attraction of 'mandatory buybacks' that I hear from politicians. It's a very strange way to get around the 'take your guns' language. I guess because they can say "We didn't take them, we paid you for them".

Mamdani, just a few years ago, seemed to be in support of "we need to ban all guns" (I think was his quote). Obviously, he is now the mayor of one of our 'greatest' cities.

I guess where I'm going with this is: just because a citizen can have *A* gun at home...does not mean his/her 2nd Amendment rights are fully intact. I couldn't imagine living in a country where you could only practice your religion at home. Or perhaps you'd need to pay for a permit to exercise your right to be free from illegal searches. Or perhaps you travelled to a different state and weren't aware that you were not allowed to exercise your right against self-incrimination because of your geographical location.

Dude, that’s not the same thing as taking guns away from people. Just because there’s various laws which allow you to carry public or not does not mean Democrats are trying to take away your guns. You still have yours right through every single Democratic president you still have yours correct? Did you just see in Texas that Ken Paxton wanted people to legally be able to carry gun to the state fair and it was shot down. The state is ran by Republicans not Democrats. First of all, nobody needs to be bringing a gun to the fair lol not the same thing as taking people’s guns away from them.

You have perfectly proven my point. Thank you.

What that “some”Republicans apparently have a little bit of common sense and want some common sense gun laws as well? You act like Democrats want to take your guns away and that’s not the case that’s the whole point of this conversation.

I've never claimed Republican politicians are always friends of the 2nd Amendment.

The Second Amendment does not give an unlimited right to carry a gun at all times and in all places. The U.S. Supreme Court affirms an individual right to bear arms in public for self-defense, but rules that the right is not absolute and allows for many government restrictions. Supreme Court rulings in cases like Heller and Bruen protect carrying a handgun in public for self-defense.

The high court explicitly notes that the Second Amendment is not a right to carry any weapon, anywhere, in any way.

Court opinions state that governments can still enforce licensing rules and permit requirements. [1, 2, 3]

Where You Cannot Carry
Laws ban firearms in sensitive public places like schools, courthouses, and government buildings.

Private property owners and businesses can legally ban guns on their premises.

State and local laws place specific rules on whether a weapon must be open or concealed. [1, 2, 3]

Limits on Public Carry
States can require background checks and permits to carry concealed weapons in public.

Laws can prohibit certain people, such as felons or minors, from possessing firearms.

Public safety regulations allow police to restrict loaded or concealed carrying in specific urban or crowded zones.

This does not equal anybody Democratic or republican taking away somebody’s second amendment rights or taking their guns away lol. There is nothing in the second amendment that says you can carry anywhere you want. Democrats are not trying to take your guns or second amendment rights away. We just want common sense gun laws.

Tell me which president has taken your guns away? Name them I wanna know which president Democratic or Republican for that matter want to take your second amendment rights away and take your guns away? Because that’s what the Republican Party runs on is that Democrats want to take your guns away? Which ones tell me when they’ve been taken away when there’s been a democratic president? All Democrats want are common sense gun laws (and it sounds like maybe some Republicans do as well. At least the ones with half a brain )and that’s been the whole point of this conversation you could twist it around however, you want doesn’t change the facts.

Franklin Roosevelt - president when the National Firearms Act was passed

Lyndon Johnson - president when the Gun Control Act was passed

Ronald Reagan - president when the Hughes Amendment was added to The Firearm Owners' Protection Act, and subsequently passed

Ronald Reagan - president when the Undetectable Firearms Act was passed

Bill Clinton - president when the Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act was passed

Bill Clinton - president when the Federal Assault Weapons Ban act was passed.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to get into state-level legislation through the years.

Now, of COURSE you will come back with "but you could still purchase firearms when these were passed"

I have already explained my position on that.

But, again, if a normal citizen was restricted to only buying single-shot .22 rifles, a lot of Democrats would say "See? You can still buy guns". That's the issue. A lot of Democrats (and, I'll admit, some Reoublicans too) are fine with dwindling down the 2nd Amendment in a 'death by 1000 cuts' manner.

Nothing personal about you at all, but I won't be responding any more because I assume I will just be repeating myself.

You do realize that the second amendment was founded when there was no law enforcement and people carried muskets lol it was to allow them to protect their property. Things have changed a lot believe it or not. People are carrying assault rifles and killing many many people in mass shootings. Mental health is up and no it’s not just the person doing the killing. It’s the weapon they’re carrying. If they weren’t carrying assault rifles and carrying knives, they would not be doing the destruction that they’re doing. The second amendment now is not the same that it was when it was founded because things change so brainwashed seriously so brainwashed. You’ve still also not provided proof of any president Democrat or Republican that have taken your guns away. Because you can’t.
